Thanks for this and ALL your videos! I've been researching and have a few favorite ladies I watch and you are definitely at the top! I have one question about the topper grip. I love the idea of it but the back of my head is pretty flat. I cannot wear headbands or anything that wraps around the back of my head because they just slip right off. If I wear a wig, I have to have my bio hair in a little bun or the wig slips right up as well. Could the topper grip still work? I'm thinking it would just slip right up so haven't tried but I'd really love to be able to clip into the grip instead of my bio hair. Thoughts? TIA!
Hi Katherine, I know exactly what you mean. My head is on the flatter side in the back. I have to put a ponytail, and then have the grip specifically positioned. A little reinforcing with pins does the trick. I hope that helps! ☺️

This was the most helpful review I have watched, and I have watched countless of wig, topper, and related product reviews over the past decade. Your honesty is very much appreciated! It will help in making an informed decision towards what is the best for my personal hairloss situation. There are already tons of wig reviewers that will not share any of the negative sides because they don't want to get on the companies "bad side" and miss out on free products to review for their channels, but instead their viewers can't trust them to provide unbiased information that will truly help. It's too obvious when they are too focused on growing their number of followers for their personal benefits. People don't have to be nagged over and over to "subscribe and like" when the reviews are great... So thank you so much for having integrity and being truly helpful.

I'm SO glad I found you! My hair is growing back from chemo 3 yrs ago, and my scalp is still sparse in areas. I'm so happy to have my own hair coming back, and am over the wigs - never found a realistic one anyway, and they are way too hot. Now I'm looking into toppers, since finding you!

That’s funny you mention that about silk tops being flatter. I feel like people say they are more voluminous but I have big problems getting volume with silk tops. You’re the sweetest! I chose to start with toppers because I thought it was an easier transition into wearing hair and they’re more affordable. I’m sure someday I’ll switch to wigs but for now toppers are working great!

Just ordered the topper grip! I also have the same problems with my Lauren Ashton piece. I think that they originally made them for more of a big hair look than for people with thin hair. I a, going to see if I can make the front blend better...great video

I can’t wear the volume topper, my hair is so thin, it looks ridiculous on me. I bought a luxury length and cut it up into clip in extensions. They have lasted 5 years and are still in great condition.
Lacie Ive came across your videos for the last year. I'm being very honest I have had lots of hair loss and a pronounced bald spot in the back of my crown for about 30years. My hair is very thin since the start so think i could touch my scalp with my fingernail just poke poke. My older boys have literally fixed the hair on my bald spot when they are next to me standing ugh its so embarrassing. I have been wearing my hair in a bun for years I wear it down and then have to tease it for any umff and it tangles so bad. I never realized a topper is my calling, knew of wigs but no topper. I'm so ready, I'm 54yrs old I need to get back to me and my hair really holds me back from so much outside of my house. Hey! Yes, after this video I discovered silk toppers and they’re such a game changer! I also agree that the LAC pieces are very pricey. They have a ton of hair but I wish they offered a lower density option too. They’re also 100% hand tied, which also adds to the price. But it’s nice to know there are more affordable options too ☺️❤️

I saved for a while to buy my Lauren Ashtyn. But now that I’ve tried so many more pieces I feel like there are better options out there if you’re suffering from hair loss. Hi, Lacie... I have worn Lauren Ashtyn for years and have had very similar experiences with wearing. I enjoy the volume as well. Would like something a little more believable in the front but still have the density that I like in the crown and nape. Natural hair isn't super full at the hairline so to me, that is a dead give away. I make it work, so far nothing I have found checks ALL the boxes.
Did you watch my review of the Dimples Clio 12L? It’s one of my favorite pieces! Not high density but so much more natural looking and fabulous volume 🙌🏼

I recently discovered and am currently learning about "Barbers Velcro". It looks like something you and I may need. A method of wearing a topper without using the clips or other damaging attachments. I just bought my first Lauren Ashton light volume topper. It is beautiful!! But I hard time getting the front to look natural. It has a middle part and I wear a side part. I just bought a cork head thing to change to a side part.
I’ve been talking to some other ladies who have found success in plucking some of the hairs and using thinning shears to thin it out a little. That might be something to consider. I think the hard thing is how densely packed the hair is and makes it harder to blend.

3/13/23, I recently bought a Lauren Ashtyn hair topper. Just took it to my Stylist to get it customer cut and colored. She did a great job and I loved the results. Unfortunately, we could not get the front hairline to lay flat. We both tried different ideas with the same result, I could still see the front of the hair line lifting a full finger tip. I have a full head of hair and just wanted a topper for fun. I am very disappointed with the results, and plan on consulting with the company. In addition, in the direct sunlight the under weave is visible through the hair. I know the return policy, so I’m stuck. Will keep trying to get the front to look more natural. Buyers beware.
I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s very unfortunate to have high hopes for a topper and then be disappointed. I’m wondering if adding a comb to the front might help, instead of a clip? I hope that helps. It can be hard to find a stylist that is willing to cut and color a topper so I’m glad you found one you can trust! 💕

this topper fell apart on me and gave me 4 bald spots, for $1000.00 I did NOT expect this. I’ve only had it since July and it’s horrible, so you have bald spots??
Yes it caused some serious damage to my bio hair. But I found ways to work around it and my hair did grow back for the most part in those areas. It’s a very heavy topper because it holds so much hair. I stopped wearing it for a while, found a topper without a clip in the front to wear while I let my scalp rest and the hair grow back. Then I bought a topper grip to wear with it and I haven’t had any more problems after that.
Hey! I love your videos. They are extremely helpful. I have a question, my bio hair is thinning on the top and front. I am on the fence with this topper…and cannot get to the pop up tours they have around the country. So purchasing unseen is a BIG deal. What is your opinion for a gal with thinning at the front hairline? Will it look natural? That has been my issue with other toppers, they done blend! Thank you and you look beautiful!
Unfortunately I think this topper works much better for someone with more hair at the hairline. I can’t wear it anymore because I don’t have enough of my own hair to blend with it. If you’ve struggled with toppers in the past I would suggest you look into a lace front topper. I recently did a review of the Athena XL from Dimples Hair that is fantastic and doesn’t require any blending at the hairline 🤗
I would love to get a Lauren Ashtyn topper but their "full volume" toppers only come in a 5"x6" base. I need a 8.5"x8" base or slightly larger. Any advice?

I thought that you had it for 3 years? Only 1? I have one. Paid a fortune. More than you and never wore it. I finally took it back and had it blown out and layered Saturday. Just about everyday probably yes. I believe this topper has a lot of hair and is too heavy for the size of base. I haven’t had any damage from any other topper, even with daily wear.

I continued to wear my Lauren Ashtyn piece with a topper grip for a while but it made it harder to blend and now I don’t wear it at all. I wear lots of other pieces. I really prefer a lighter density than the lauren Ashtyn piece. It’s heavy and harder to blend than lots of others ☺️

I haven’t noticed any little bald spots although I wouldn’t doubt that it has broken some hair off. The front clip is almost always the most problematic since the hair is so fragile there and it holds a lot of weight from the topper.
Hi Jamie! This is a mono top which has a lot of volume on top. If you’re looking for something that lays a little flatter, try a silk top. I bought a mannequin head to style my topper, but I hate it. It's not stable and too small for the topper. Can you list a suggestion for the mannequin head you use for styling?

Hi Lacie! I noticed that there are 2 more side ribbons on the grip. Can the clips be moved so they could be clipped in the sides, too? Would it stay on with just the 3 clips with a ponytail style? Thank you for your assistance!!!
That’s a great question! I think you could move the clips but the ribbons are so close together, I’m not sure how much extra support that would give you. Personally I don’t think it would do well being pulled up in a ponytail because I think the grip would start to slip backwards. The only topper I’ve ever had luck with doing a pulled up style is a lace front that is glued on. I still think you would need to clip the back clips in order for the topper to stay put. Hope that’s helpful!
Are you saying that a few of your first, and cheaper toppers, only lasted a few months and they made of human hair? Did any of your uniwig toppers have the silicone coated fibers?

Everything is just so expensive, and I can't afford to waste my money, just like most people can't. The Lauren Ashtyn videos are everywhere, and I checked out the prices and was gob-smacked, but I also want something that will last and look natural. It's such a big decision. Hi, Lacie... I have worn Lauren Ashtyn for years and have had very similar experiences with wearing. I enjoy the volume as well. Would like something a little more believable in the front but still have the density that I like in the crown and nape. Natural hair isn't super full at the hairline so to me, that is a dead give away. I make it work, so far nothing I have found checks ALL the boxes.
Did you watch my review of the Dimples Clio 12L? It’s one of my favorite pieces! Not high density but so much more natural looking and fabulous volume 🙌🏼

Lacie, I just subscribed . I've been on the hunt for the perfect topper for nearly 3 years! I really like your videos, your honesty is so badly needed. I recently discovered and am currently learning about "Barbers Velcro". It looks like something you and I may need. A method of wearing a topper without using the clips or other damaging attachments. Don't currently have the full picture but, I've ordered some from Amazon just get a starting point. Your best, favorite Topper so far?? UniWig has one I think may work for me. I just bought my first Lauren Ashton light volume topper.
It is beautiful!! But I hard time getting the front to look natural.
It has a middle part and I wear a side part. I just bought a cork head thing to change to a side part.
That’s the great thing about the Lauren Ashtyn pieces is that they’re 100% hand tied so your part can go anywhere 🙌🏼

I’ve been talking to some other ladies who have found success in plucking some of the hairs and using thinning shears to thin it out a little. That might be something to consider. I think the hard thing is how densely packed the hair is and makes it harder to blend.

my Lauren Ashtyn hair topper is brand new. It's 3" side by side, and 5" front to back. None of the Milano topper grips are made for mine.

3/13/23, I recently bought a Lauren Ashtyn hair topper. Just took it to my Stylist to get it customer cut and colored. She did a great job and I loved the results. Unfortunately, we could not get the front hairline to lay flat. We both tried different ideas with the same result, I could still see the front of the hair line lifting a full finger tip. I have a full head of hair and just wanted a topper for fun. I am very disappointed with the results, and plan on consulting with the company. In addition, in the direct sunlight the under weave is visible through the hair. I know the return policy, so I’m stuck. Will keep trying to get the front to look more natural. Buyers beware.
I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s very unfortunate to have high hopes for a topper and then be disappointed. I’m wondering if adding a comb to the front might help, instead of a clip? I hope that helps. It can be hard to find a stylist that is willing to cut and color a topper so I’m glad you found one you can trust! 💕

This topper is in the color Sophia ☺️ I can’t remember which eyeshadow combo I did here but if you check out my Instagram I have lots of eyeshadow tutorials there ☺️ purples and pinks really bring out the green 🤩 also, I use an eyelash serum from www.helloskincare.com that makes them grow crazy long!

this topper fell apart on me and gave me 4 bald spots, for $1000.00 I did NOT expect this. I’ve only had it since July and it’s horrible, so you have bald spots??
Yes it caused some serious damage to my bio hair. But I found ways to work around it and my hair did grow back for the most part in those areas. It’s a very heavy topper because it holds so much hair. I stopped wearing it for a while, found a topper without a clip in the front to wear while I let my scalp rest and the hair grow back. Then I bought a topper grip to wear with it and I haven’t had any more problems after that.
Hey! I love your videos. They are extremely helpful. I have a question, my bio hair is thinning on the top and front. I am on the fence with this topper…and cannot get to the pop up tours they have around the country. So purchasing unseen is a BIG deal. What is your opinion for a gal with thinning at the front hairline? Will it look natural? That has been my issue with other toppers, they done blend! Thank you and you look beautiful!
Unfortunately I think this topper works much better for someone with more hair at the hairline. I can’t wear it anymore because I don’t have enough of my own hair to blend with it. If you’ve struggled with toppers in the past I would suggest you look into a lace front topper. I recently did a review of the Athena XL from Dimples Hair that is fantastic and doesn’t require any blending at the hairline 🤗

I would love to get a Lauren Ashtyn topper but their "full volume" toppers only come in a 5"x6" base. I need a 8.5"x8" base or slightly larger. Any advice?

Just about everyday probably yes. I believe this topper has a lot of hair and is too heavy for the size of base. I haven’t had any damage from any other topper, even with daily wear.

I continued to wear my Lauren Ashtyn piece with a topper grip for a while but it made it harder to blend and now I don’t wear it at all. I wear lots of other pieces. I really prefer a lighter density than the lauren Ashtyn piece. It’s heavy and harder to blend than lots of others ☺️

I think it would be hard to glue down because it’s made to sit behind your hairline. You might be able to tape it on top of your hair 🤔

You said the clip in the front damaged your hair how about the clif at the back or side?
I haven’t noticed any little bald spots although I wouldn’t doubt that it has broken some hair off. The front clip is almost always the most problematic since the hair is so fragile there and it holds a lot of weight from the topper.

The full volume. The light volume is still very dense and the cap would have been much too small for that much hair as well.

I store mine on a wig stand. A mannequin head works too. Although for longer term storage a bag or box would be better 👍🏼

I’m glad it helped! It depends on your preference. Tape can pull if not careful. I use hairspray sometimes to avoid that.

That’s a great question! I think you could move the clips but the ribbons are so close together, I’m not sure how much extra support that would give you. Personally I don’t think it would do well being pulled up in a ponytail because I think the grip would start to slip backwards. The only topper I’ve ever had luck with doing a pulled up style is a lace front that is glued on. I still think you would need to clip the back clips in order for the topper to stay put. Hope that’s helpful!
Are you saying that a few of your first, and cheaper toppers, only lasted a few months and they made of human hair? Did any of your uniwig toppers have the silicone coated fibers?
Yes! I believe a lot of the Uniwigs pieces are coated in silicone. They’re meant to be a budget piece and they just don’t last that long.
