Thanks so much. Your tip on using the flat head screw driver to pull it out, might have helped me not end up with a brocken pvc valve upon pulling it out. I have had the valve for a month or so, not switching it out b/c I read that it breaks on a lot of people, and I couldn't find the tap locally to pull it out in the event it broke. Decided to try it today, and all went smooth with me slowly helping pull nudge it out with the flat head. Thanks again for taking the time to make this. -I should mention, Mine came with o rings, and I also had a washer type item on my old valve that I pulled off and used with the new pvc valve. Fingers crossed all goes well with the new piece .
Scotty W, you are throwing your money away. If you are concerned take it out and wash it with plenty with soap and water to get rid of all the trapped grease and test to see if the valve still moves freely under pressure by pressing on it and if it does that means it is working fine. Just put it back and save your money. The OEM valve is much better than any after market. The purpose of that valve is to relieve the pressure in the crankcase so the built up pressure would not damage other component----hence, positive pressure crankcase ventilation....
trankt54155 how am I throwing money away. Between 50-100k they should just be replaced. $5 is NOTHING and it’s great preventative maintenance. Or if you take it out and it doesn’t rattle then a clean won’t fix it. Better safe than sorry
I love you so much right now. I fixed my valve pan the other day and now my car was acting weird. I put one of the iron clamps for the hose on the wrong spot and it was squeezing the tubes!
I wonder if PCV valve can click and still be bad? I pinch the hose and PCV valve clicks and engine RPM dips a bit and then comes back up. This tells me that PCV valve is working however there is a bit oil consumption which is about 3/4th Quarts in 3k miles.
mine has the same miles and mine just broke on its own. so urs is on its way. use a gentle back and forth twisting motion when removing. If not you'll have to remove the upper intake manifold just to get valve cover off, but all for nothing, because the broken piece is hidden behind a riveted plate that should not be removed. You have to fish all the pieces out of the hole that it's inserted from basically. but it's easier with the valve cover off so,.......
I neglected this and now have oil leaking all over the damn place. Tried to remove the pcv valve and it broke and half is still inside. If i get the valve replaced is there any chance the oil leaks could stop or am i gonna hafta pull the engine out and reseal everything to stop the leaks?

My car is hesitating to start but everything is good in terms of the engine spark plugs are good and battery is good oil coolant etc so I’m assuming it’s this I just replace my mass air flow sensor hopefully I replace this and I get a fix
I don't replace. mine just plugs out and so I just spray carb cleaner n plug it back in. I do this once a month. I shake it and can hear it clogged with oil. Once cleaned it feels lighter n clearly sounds unclogged. I find that if the valve is dirty, engine becomes heavy, some engine knock occurs.
Nizar, in the combustion of gas/fuel mixture in the cylinders there is always some unburned compressed mixture that leaks out of the cylinder into the crankcase environment and the pressure builds up with each combustion cycle and thus there is the need to decompress and vent off that escaped mixture to recirculate it back into the manifold for it to burn off and also to relieve the built up pressure; otherwise, if the pressure is not decompressed and continues to build other components like gaskets would blow in order to relieve the pressure. So it is essentially that the valve is always working and the OEM valve should work very well unless you do not change the engine oil and the dirty oil and grime collect over time and interfere with the spring inside the valve from opening with increased pressure.
Clean the valve with soap/water solution to degrease engine oil that has been collected inside and if you can depress the plate that has a spring behind it depress it with a little screw driver to see if it springs in and out easily, and if it does it is still working for you. It is an air pressure valve----unlike a fluid pressure valve of your radiator cap or the coolant thermostat.
Praying its the PCV, currently burning/leaking or both not sure yet 1 quart every 150-250 miles. No smoke or any other indicator of serious internal damage. Hoping its just a bad leak and the PCV😭😅
I've ran into this problem on my 05 TL base model. Tried to take it out of the engine and half of the sensor stayed in the engine. What did you use to get it out?
If you replaced your pcv valve and oil is still leaking out from that valve then yes. Your valve cover gasket needs to be checked and see if there is a crack or if the gasket snapped. When i took mine off and replaced the gasket all the issues with oil leaks stopped.

One of the most overlooked parts of a car that are extremely critical.. I replace every 50k miles regardless of the sensors condition
Great tip!
CarsNToys thanks! Those sensors are usually around $5 so better safe than sorry. No reason to have an unnecessary oil leak

trankt54155 and yes I know what a PCV valve is. I’ve worked on cars for 15 years now. Very easy to replace

If your idle is rough dont forget to also clean your throttle body. CRC throttle body cleaner, the difference can be night and day.
Amazing Video. Informative, Short and straight to the point. Thank you sir.
I have a oil leak thru the pcv valve hole. I replaced the pcv valve and i still have the same leak. Do you have an idea what it could be?
Hey you think the pcv valve could cause a code of p0174-p0171 for a 05 3.2l Acura tl? Or could it be vacuum leak it says system running to lean

Can a clogged PCV valve cause a rich condition or P0172 and P0175 codes on a 4th Gen Acura TL 3.7L?
About the same here, p0159 & p0175.
I also have alot of smoke coming out the end of tailpipes + oil consumption
Should the motor sound like that how many miles
Could this cause blueish smoke at idle
YES !!
Excellent video bro
Is this a regular maintenance item? have never looked at this in 250k miles and car runs beautiful...

Some say to shake it and it should make some noise. If not noise definitely need to replace it.

DO NOT attempt to "test" a PCV valve by shaking it.
Take the old valve out -- put the new HONDA PCV valve in -- you're good to go !!

Can this cause misfiring on the engine or no?
What to do if oil is leaking from my pcv valve
Check your valve cover gasket
bamomotron2000 if oil is leaking from pcv valve would it be a valve cover issue or the o rings from the pcv valve? My pcv valve is leaking.
If you replaced your pcv valve and oil is still leaking out from that valve then yes. Your valve cover gasket needs to be checked and see if there is a crack or if the gasket snapped. When i took mine off and replaced the gasket all the issues with oil leaks stopped.
