Joel starting to use British terms like "It was pissing down last night" lol
I'm so glad our country has embraced you ❤
Long live England 🏴🇬🇧❤️
I’m so pleased my fellow Englishmen are welcoming you with open arms. This is what the Brit’s are known for worldwide. When we’re good we’re very good lol
As a Brit I can confirm that much of Britain is beautiful 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Ever been to blackburn mate?
@@chrisboult6610 - well, I guess there are always exceptions! 😄
@@chrisboult6610 I have , reminded me of the hunger games
Some of it Is grotty as well.
@@chrisboult6610every country has arse hole places. Ever been to Gary indiana, the old rust belt towns... or even Skid Row
Fair play to the YO1 Radio guys. Such a lovely team for making Joel feel so welcome.
Dozy old sod of a DJ. "I always say U.S. of A. because of that comedian". 'U.S. .. AND.. A.' was what Borat said. And also carrying on that lazy post-war American stereotype of Brits having terrible teeth. In fact British dental health is now better than across the pond.
@@thegroovetube3247 I hardly think confusing ‘and’ and ‘of’ constitutes an error worthy of mention. He was, after all, referencing a film 17 years old.
As for the bad teeth remark, it’s a well-known stereotype. Not 100% accurate per-se but it was a lighthearted remark.
My lasting opinion of the DJ was that he and the team treated Joel well and gave him a nice couple of days that Joel will remember. That’s what matters.
@@Neil_TheShiningMile Considering the work a british colleague had done to her and her families teeth i think that stereotype is only valid for "the older people". But ok, they did look like horses so there had to be something done ;)
@@thegroovetube3247 That's true, BUT, we don't go for the cosmetic correction the yanks do.
Best vlog by far so far
So good to see you enjoying British culture and being so welcomed
Our teeth are stained and look bad from drinking tea just look at your cup after it will be stained. That is why I drink coffee,
@@paulhenman9907both tea and coffee stain your teeth
@paulhenman9907 a fairly recent report, states that the British have healthier teeth than Americans.
The UK came 5th and the US 9th.
@paulhenman9907 speak for yourself 67 million brits haven't all got stained teeth ridiculous.
Glad to see you’re having such a good time over here and that you’ve been made to feel welcome. Love your videos ☺
Awesome to see you being welcomed back so warmly in York. They obviously love you Joel, just like your followers do. Your expression of contentment and happiness while walking under a blue sky and the beautiful green trees flanking the river Ouse, in the final minutes of this vlog, speaks volumes about your deepening sense of becoming an honorary Brit 🇬🇧
I love the fact that you got so involved in York. I really think the people have taken you to heart just as you seem to have taken them to heart. York has to be your home from home.
I think the next trip he should see more of Yorkshire. Harrogate, Leeds, the Dales and the coast. As well as Liverpool and North Wales.
Congratulations on 3rd place great effort, it looked like you had great fun. The people of York, have really taken to you and embraced you. Your love for the UK is so genuine and overwhelming, the feeling is mutual. You are a great young man and a true embassador for your country, we welcome you with open arms. Always remain humble and true to yourself.
Best vlog so far
Felt your emotions mate. York and UK have stole a piece of your heart
The people at radio station and people in York have really treated Joel very well. You could see he was overcome with emotion toward the end of day. He is very exceptional young man. The Joel you see in videos is the same person you meet face to face. Wish all the best in all he does.
I love how you say it's pissing down so naturally now lol now just naturally say alright mate and your one of us!!
OMG OMG OMG it’s finally here! The Radio in York x Joel Reunion is what we’re here for.
Last year I said a radio star is born...How right I was....well done Joel😊....
You've just experienced Yorkshire and you're always a friend and welcome.
The York river is called the Ouse, glad you enjoyed yourself Joe.
Well Done Joel, York has embraced you as you have embraced them. Your celebrity status is now cemented and well earned.
We're a friendly bunch in yorkshire. You seem really comfortable in the UK now. Hope youve had fun 😊
Joel I love how you are embracing everything in the UK!!!
‘Pissing it down with rain 😂😂😂😂😂😂’ never heard an american say that before today you’re doing well mate you’re one our own. hope you’ve enjoyed yourself York is a beautiful place! listen I’m from a part of the U.K. which is largely forgotten in the popular sense - east Anglia, specifically Norfolk.. in the future when you plan trips give us a look in.. I live in Norwich which is interesting historically and architecturally due to its proximity to Europe and the invading empires over the centuries but I also grew up in Great Yarmouth just down the road which is one of the oldest seaside resorts/ fishing industries in the world and is a very very unique experience to say the least.. even to most Brits! If you ever want to message me about the area for your future trips then feel free my man
Oh and btw we could show you a night out that would put Newcastle to shame! 😎
YOU HAVE BEEN TO TWO TOWNS AN HOUR AWAY FROM ME NEWCASTLE AND YORK .NICE TO SEE TOOK PART IN A GREAT BOAT RACE....
I love how when you were on air at York you were being yourself.
I can't believe what I'm seeing. Your absolutely killin it 🔥. I hope your family are proud.
youre a good guy Joel. Enjoy your time in the UK. Keep posting the good vibes.
Awwwwwwwwww your very last comment on the vid made me so happy for you JPS you are a good person !!!!! Keep being that we all LOVE you just the way you are ...!!!!
Wow! After watching your German adventures I am now surprised to see how much happens in UK! I guess one should never underestimate the language barrier, right? You're having much more contacts over there, and the interview in the radio station must have been much fun!
Glad to see you are doing so well! Keep it on,
Your "German grumpy Granny" 😊
Just my opinion of course, but in my personal experience, Germany is not a welcoming group, no warm and fuzzies. The Brits on the other, a very fun lot. Sure no language barrier helps but just the overall vibe of the people is so nice.
@@lw3158 I agree. But my idea with the language barrier has a reason: Joel himself mentioned, that he simply was to shy to start talking to Germans. It is true, we do usually not start conversations with strangers, but if they do, most of us are happy to help and chat.
Germans have become deeply respectful of personal space , maybe historical reasons, but today's Germans wait to engage then open up with that graet German humour.
Truly one of the best vlogs in the series 👏🏽
One of your best! So pleased you’re having a great time and you got 3rd! You’ll always be welcome, pleasure to see you over here. You’re a top man. 💙
That brought a tear to my eye just because you look so happy and relaxed and overwhelmed with proudness and achievement. I think York and you are great together. I hope your enjoying your time in the UK and I hope maybe you visit some other places another year because there's so much In the UK. You would love St Ives in Cornwall southwest England. It's a beautiful sea side town.
Hi Joel! I’m so glad that you had such a great time, and that you were made to feel so welcome in my home county!
Great video Joel loved the radio interview ❤
Joel you have made me smile to see how much my home county of Yorkshire has taken your heart. York is a special place and the radio station should be proud to have you as a friend. Here's to Yorkshire puddings washed down with a mug of Yorkshire tea! Can't wait for the next vlog, safe travels ❤️❤️😘🙋
Love the Hawaii 5.0 theme playing. Always was one of the best intro musics!
Joel, it's been wonderful to see your channel grow, but more than that, it's wonderful to see you grow as a person with your channel. From the early, unassuming reaction videos to now this, getting involved in our community here in the UK and finding unique experiences you'll treasure forever. You've really inspired me to plunge head first into new oppurtunities, to try things I may never have considered. Keep growing as a content creator and as a young man, because you've already excelled so much in both, and we can't wait to see you go from strength to strength in the future.
Joel you are an absolute star, loving your road trip, I love York too even though I'm from the red rose county just next door. Keep safe and well x
What a brilliant video. Glad you're having such a great time in our country 🏴👍
Well done lad. ✌️ Welcome to the UK.
I think this was one of your best videos, you look really happy and relaxed 😎.
My favourite video of your travels, I guess you are an honoury Yorkshire man
Now Joel !
Absolutely brilliant video Joel.
Nice to get a little glimps of what you have been doing, but well done for not being stuck on the camera the whole trip and living in the moment
Kinda loving that you've been adopted by York Radio 😂
Welcome to sunny Yorkshire, brother.
York is a lovely city, and Yorkshire is a lovely county.
I am glad someone looked after you.
Glad you are enjoying your York visit. Try to see the Viking museum and dig!
Yes to your love of YORKSHIRE! xxx
Wwll you have your medal to appreciate it and the footage. Glad you took the time out and went to York again. Whst a lovely crowd.
I think you've found your favourite place in Britain Joel - York. You've been back for a second year. It is a lovely city with fantastic history, near to beautiful countryside and a lovely coast as well and still only just over two hours by train from London. And here's me praising York, a born and bred Lancastrian!
Ahh, that was really lovely, I work with a guy from York ( I'm in Canada) he is the most chill guy, if they're all like that, it would be a great place to live. So glad you're having a good time.
Another superb vlog Joel. I was born and raised in Brighton, East Sussex. But Yorkshire is my favourite accent and favourite people. I lived in Sheffield for many years and had the best time. We are indebted to YO1 Radio for giving you such a warm welcome. Wayne & Dave are top guys!
Do you agree with the statement “it’s grim up north”
@@Bumblebee12323 Well, it wasn't grim in Sheffield. And my favourite holiday destination, the Lake District in Cumbria wasn't grim either.
@@Bumblebee12323 Nah it's grim in Grimsby lol
@@simonbutterfield4860 can’t disagree with that tbh
Looks like we better start calling him Yorkie, folks - or would you prefer Pudding, Joel?!! But you know, what makes this video different from almost all the others you've done since you left Germany is - you're with friends: folk who know where all the best places to eat and meet and drink and be merry are - that even take in a few of the sights; and you look so much happier! Still knackered from all your travelling; but able to just be, just relax and just enjoy, and not have to worry whether you're in the right places, or where they might be or how to find them! I was feeling sorry for you up in Glasgow - you seemed so lost and alone, and barely even scratched the surface of all that you could have seen and done, there - but, that simply means you'll have to come back and do it all again - maybe at a time when there isn't a pop festival going on elsewhere in the city, with all the folks that would otherwise have been in the pubs and clubs...! Well done York and especially, well done, YO1 Radio - we'll make sure he's rested enough and sober enough to win the race for you next time!!
Local knowledge is needed in each place he goes to.......York had the dragon race on so easier to get involved and he had been there before . Probably if he came back he would have more of a network built up in each place. Glasgow was tricky because he was expecting backlash I think from his Edniburgh trip video last year... He didt get any backlash and if he had asked the locals where to go for a pint and he was doing a travel vlog I dont think he would have been short of people to chat too......But you dont know until you know! Going up North to the Highlands with a group that are doing the hostel trail place to place visiting pubs enroute would have been a good vlog......and much more fun than a bus tour but he didnt know until he tried it. He sounded like he had a good experience in Scotland...
You really need to get one of the Radio Station to show you the Yorkshire Dales especially The River Swale and Swaledale. Tony in rainy Essex
Well done coming 3rd in the Dragon race that's brilliant, your a natural on radio, so glad you enjoyed York and got to see old friends and make new one"s 🇬🇧🎖✌
I’ve really enjoyed watching your vlogs Joel about Germany and Britain, but especially your stay in York and how those people have taken you in as one of their own. Your a humble gent with a kind heart.
Joel.....people just LOVE you. You are so genuine and have a good heart. That is so rare these days, especially in America. Never Change !!!
Pissing down rain 😆😆😆 welcome to our world - would love to hear him say 'Its chucking it down' in a Yorkshire accent 🌧️😆🌧️😆🌧️☔ 'Chuckin it dahn' 😂😂😂
Me thinks Joel is an emotional wreck! Aww so nice he was made to feel at home in Yorkshire but Joel, most of us here in GB “don’t take life too seriously” when it comes to having fun at outdoor events like shows, fetes, events etc! We love mucking about and getting “involved” - it’s all about having fun in the “work to live” way we do it.
But so glad you are seeing the “true GB” - it’d not such a bad place after all! 🇬🇧🏴❤️❤️
Your always welcome in Yorkshire. Come back soon
Well done Joel. Really great video, good to see you back in the North of England making great memories.
Fantastic Joel - I could tell this day had an impact on you. Nice bro :)
You look at home in York Joel glad u loved it 🫶
Nice to see you back in York. Just go easy on the drink.
Wow....I am so happy for you Joel; your hosts have really pulled out all the stops and embraced you. (...and finally you have had a proper sit down meal I am glad to see). Who knows they may offer you a permanent job! Wouldn't that be great.. ?
And in such an idyllic setting; York is a beautiful place. The weather was very kind to you.
I think Yorkshire folk do have warm hearts; we do a lot of leg pulling but it's all in good fun and you are becoming acclimatized to it, which does help.
Hope the next leg of your trip goes well, which I think you mentioned is Birmingham/London or the other way round.
Looking forward to further vlogs.
You were very smart, charming, and well able for your interviewers. I think they like you .
York a great place to live play & work
I stayed at the Guy Fawkes hotel opposite the Minster, years ago before it was refurbished. It was sort of breathtaking to open the curtains in the morning and be so close to that amazing structure. I'm from Manchester, and I've visited loads of times it is a vibrant and interesting place.
Shame you had a whistlestop tour of Manchester. I wonder if the Stone Roses bar still exists there, lol?
Joel, as ever eloquent. What a pleasure your videos are!
Joel, I am both touched and humbled by your comments about my city of York; I never take it for granted but it’s great to see how other people appreciate it - and we’re so happy to share it with someone like you. Hope to welcome you back someday; you’ll always find a warm Yorkshire welcome here.
Congratulations on 3rd. As a Yorkshireman I'm so pleased you are enjoying our county and hospitality. Best video of your trip too
What a great video, you look like you had the best time, the people of York are extremely friendly, loved this
Joel, great great video. Media seems to be your natural instinct, leverage it as much as you can. UK will always welcome talent and you have it mate 🤩
aww...! love this video and I can see you getting slightly emotional.
From a Yorkshire lass, I’m chuffed to bits you love our beautiful county, yes york is an amazing city, but yorkshire has much more to offer, we’re a friendly bunch & say it has it is! We’re proud of our county ❤ it’s the best 😊😊

I was watching the races from the bridge! Great day.
What a Brilliant time you are having and the Joy and Happiness you are experiencing is so evident from this video. Thank you
3rd place - go guys, that's some serious rowing!!🏅 Well done to all.
Yorkshire is THE best! Fantastic video. Wish I'd been in York that day.

You're a star in Yorkshire, Joel! No mean feat. I know whereof I speak.
Welcome back to Yorkshire. I love York train station, it's a beautiful Victorian building. I also love that they have British, English, and Yorkshire flags flying outside. Hope you come back soon.
Well done Joel. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
Brilliant ! Well done on Top 3 Joel. It looked so competitive.
Love the enthusiasm and the relationships you develop along the way man…
You’re such a genuine lovely human being!

P.S you’re handsome! X
what a sound guy!! your attitude is spot on mate im not surprised the people have taken to you so well, if you ever find yourself in manchester or leeds ( I live slap bang in the middle of them) there's a pint on me waiting for you! all the best mate
York is amazing - and so much history. It's worth getting to know the place.
Glad you had such a memorable day 🙂Congrats on the race!
I have loved watching you on your journey. I’m so proud of my country for welcoming you 😁
Congrats to all the YO1 rowers and everyone else who took part in the races! 😊
Great video loved it ❤
It was quality meeting you bro❤ big love
❤️
York is so beautiful
Definitely need to visit more cities in Yorkshire as well as our great countryside.
So good Joel. I love how, yes, you've seen vids of our most beautiful places and landscapes, but what you're really interested in is getting to know our people, our culture, and how we tick.
I commend you for choosing our cities over the beauty of the countryside and not being put off by the grittyness and realities of city life here. Thank you for putting it all on camera so we can experience it with you. Literally my late teens and early 20's were full of nights like these where you just meet people and go from bar to bar until the early hours 😂
York didn't let us down (but neither has any other city) and has always been my favourite city apart from my own.
Y01 Radio looked after you so well yet again. Fantastic bunch of people.
Looked like a lot of fun so glad you had a great time. So glad you're getting to see other places in the UK other than London. If its in your itinerary you should go down to Devon and Cornwall is a beautiful place. I've been to Penzance which is an amazing place take the Tamar Valley train.
Yes, I’m hoping he’ll make it to Devon or Cornwall someday and maybe check out some of the lovely beaches or moors ☺
You would love Ireland! You must visit it! Beautiful country, lovely people (Study in Galway)!
