Users need to be aware of their RTH settings - you have two options on the Mini 4 Pro now, 'Optimal' and 'Normal'. Normal will rise to the pre-set height, and return. Optimal will use some logic from the obstacle avoidance sensors and return without flying up to the pre-set height first. If you lose signal under some trees with only a few leaves, and have RTH set to 'normal', you're asking for trouble.
@Ad_alta What about, if you lost the connection between higher buildings, and drone is like between them (not higher then tops of the buildings), and you have that Optimal RTH, it will go back to home without rising the height, but just will maneuver between buildings with the obstacle avoidance automatically? So, the Optimal option is generally the best RTH, or are there any situations, where Normal has some advantages over Optimal?
Great story! What a recovery. In your craft the drone is a tool. I like the way you aren't afraid to use all of it's features, and if something happens, hopefully the shot was worth it.
A lot of the drone youtubers say the sensors won't pick up thin branches like that one, i found this out with my mini 3pro, fortunately it didn't have far to fall. Looks like yours corrected itself as it was falling, something I've seen on another couple of videos with the 4, they're an amazing bit of kit and I'm getting much better footage on my 4 than i did the 3, it was well worth the upgrade to me.
I was flying my beloved mini 4 pro when the sensors did not detect some small hanging branch's and fell from 25 meters with no care refresh truly devastating 😭😭😭😭
I lost my drone after only 3 weeks. While hovering under an overhanging tree, in full view and not far away, I got a low battery warning and the drone went in RTH. That ment ascending, true the branches... But the foliage triggered an ambient light warning, so obstacle avoidance stopped functioning. All these warnings came one after the other , so before I realised what was going on, or could reach for the stop button, the drone hit a branch and tumbled down in a canal... I tried but couldn't retrieve it :-( I had to get the 'FlyAway' application form. DJI was very helpful ! Lesson learned : don't rely on RTH, before making sure there's a safe way out. In doubt, hit that stop button and have a look around and up and down to spot possible obstacles. Manoeuvre the aircraft to a safe spot, then try RTH again. We should start an Icarus group ;-)
True! Rely on Your skill, awareness etc. Lately a few flights were made in low, evening, light. "Obstacle avoidance not available" showed up in the controller. Lately flying in complete darkness "Night mode" was selected for the cameras. No zoom, no obstacle detection available of course. One more warning! Flying sideways is dangerous! The heading easily diverts from what's planned. Don't rely on obstacles detected as tiny branches are not detected. A dark shot, including start up troubles increasing the stress.... ruclips.net/video/DngnuymlpfA/видео.html
@@MarioSchwarzl They can be thin. More then one video showing tracking shows this. Also note the warnings for electric power lines, issued by many experienced drone flyers. They might be 2, 3, 4, inch thick but are regaded as dangerous to drones. Personally I never rely on obstacle avoidence. Also know that a certain amount of light is needed. Too dark and the controller likely tells You.
Great shot. However, I had a similar experience with my mini 4 PRO/DJI RC2. I did a shot in a mountain area, very steep, and very high (480 m altitude from the home point, but around 40 m altitude only from the mountain slope) and I lost the signal. I was not too worried because this happened before, and the auto RTH made it come back....except not this time. The DJI RC2 was disconnected and I waited for the second chance to have the RTH when the battery level is low....No way, and no return of the drone after 45 mn. So I decided to go for it, thanks to the "find you drone" menu that gives you the last GPS location recorded (this is your life saving!!). I had to hike badly in the mountain, and finally I found the drone in a small stream, half in the water. The drone and the battery were dead after a night sent in the stream. But I recovered the SD card and the last file recorded. What a surprise!! The drone started to come back after the auto RTH was triggered, but after a few meters, it stopped and started hovering, like if it was looking for his way. Then, it started to descend exactly vertically, through the many trees and branches, the 360 degrees probes did their good job and the drone did not hit any obstacle...until it found a clear area to land....in the stream. The rest of the video is under water !!. DJI could not explain this behavior (I checked before take off that the option was on RTH instead of landing or hovering). Fortunately DJI accepted to replace it for free. So, be careful when you fly in mountains that could block signal AND RTH path.
Thats bad to hear man but it's cool to hear that DJI replaced it, they really give 100% when it comes to the customers 🤠 next time - pay more attention 😛
Hey brother, you mentioned you upgraded from Mini 2 to the Mini 4 pro. There's loads of videos around comparing specs and features. Are you able to share any direct comparison of output, of footage? Comparing video and photos? Or maybe point to somewhere this is available? Much appreciated 🙏
This is something I don't know, I guess you have to do your own research and compare a ton of videos, but in my opinion the Mini 4 is more smooth and since you have the flat picture profile you are MUCH more flexible when colorgrading
I've crashed my one in to a tree branches after only three minutes of flying on my maiden flight 😂 I had DJI Refresh insurance, so they sent me a new one, but I will be a lot more careful now. 😅 Anyone had a problem with bird stikes? I heard that reflecting adhesive tape scare birds off. Any close ancounters with birds? I don't want to get my craft knocked off the sky over the water.
I already faced several situations with Sea gulls, you should always have an eye on the drone, if a bird tries to attack you, just fly straight upwards, since birds aren't able to do that. Just straight up and back to you as fast as you can 😂😂😂 I had this situation 10+ times, everytime it worked

@@konradjanuszewski8772 I think overall Optimal is the better option.
Lost connection return to home
RTH height was set at?
RTH height was high enough, 75m I think

Indeed mate 😁 you're right, and a good shot sometimes requires risk 😛

Thanks for your experience , and you're 100% right, its a world of a difference from the Mini 2 to the Mini 4 pro !
Great shots
Thanks a lot 😁
Schönes Video. Ich freue mich, dass deine Drohne überlebt hat😊
Ich werde sicher irgendwann nochmal crashen 😁 aber natürlich fliegt man vorerst mit erhöhter Vorsicht
Part of the learning curve bro ☝🏼👌🏼
You're right brother 😁 everyday 1% better

That's bad too hear mate! Thank you for your feedback and good luck for your Journey 😁😁

That sounds awful brother 😬 DJI is very helpful, they are good to their costumers 😁 hahaha yes that would be a good idea
that looked like a possible bird to me. 🧐
Yeah but it wasn't, it was only a branch 😁
nice bro
Thank you 😁
Damn.. crashed mine into some powerlines on first flight. Dji sent me a new one in 2 days for $79... care+refresh baby!
Very important 😁 DJI care is always step #1 😂
@MarioSchwarzl agreed! Great content. Keep it up!
Well I remember this one situation back in Spain - gives me goosbump everytime 🤓
I will forever remember your rescue mission, I hope you're always there when I fly my drone 😛
Wow, I got scared. Thank God it survived 😂
Yeah it was a shock moment 😁 everything good in the end

I just wonder what's the "music" has to do with the beautiful scenery?
I prefer powerful songs 😁 not a deep intention
I like autel 😂😂😂😂
whats autel?
Well said

The censors is marketing trap.
