    cool footage! The last few times I tried fishing for peacock bass fish lately I haven't been catching anything. Have you tried recently? Do you think it could be the weather?

      @deganmccloskey3230 Thank you for watching! I am happy you enjoyed this underwater video of Oscar cichlids and other fish in the Florida Everglades. It has rained more than normal this Winter, so the water level is higher than normal, which means fish move deeper in the Everglades. During these times you have to explore different places until you find the fish. Here's a video where I share many fishing locations for peacock bass;

    A lot of riverine cichlids in Florida, mainly New World cichlids. Have you ever seen any African rift lake species out in the wild? Any possible established populations?

      @Constantine_Cvl8 Thank you for watching! I am happy you enjoyed this video of Oscar cichlids and other fish in the Florida Everglades. There are a couple established populations of African cichlids in Florida. Eastern happy cichlids are found in Lake Malawi, which is part of the East African Rift system. Here is a video I filmed of Eastern happy cichlids in the wild in South Florida;

      @@GrouperhunterInsteresting, Have there been any instances of feral mbuna or aulonocara populations?
      Or even Tanganyikans? Victorians?

    • @Grouperhunter
      @Grouperhunter  5 месяцев назад

      @Constantine_Cvl8 Yes, there are populations of Mbuna cichlids and many other African cichlids in Florida, since Florida has ideal conditions for these fish to reproduce. I have fished for almost 30 years, and in that time I have seen many new species of exotic fish living in the wild in Florida. I will not be surprised if more exotic species are seen as time passes, especially since the weather is warmer now compared to when I first started fishing.
      I mostly caught native fish (largemouth bass, bowfin, bluegill, redear sunfish, chain pickerel, etc) when I first started fishing the Everglades almost 30 years ago. Now I mostly see and catch exotic fish. These fish are thriving, and it seems the only thing that can control their population is strong cold fronts, which are rare. It is currently early March in South Florida, and this past weekend had a day that the high temperature was 89 degrees Fahrenheit, that is the type of weather you would expect during the Summer, not near the end of Winter. These warm temperatures are ideal for cichlids and many other exotic fish that live in South Florida. With that said, I still see lots of native fish, so these fish are coexisting with each other.
