Day 1- Amicalola Lodge to Stover Mountain

- Feb 13-Damp day didn’t dampen our spirits as we climbed the Approach Trail, reached Springer Mountain and continued on to Stover Creek Shelter. Finally on our way, Northbound on the Appalachian Trail...It’s good to be back.
thought I would follow your trip but MAJOR AUDIO ISSUES. Music way to loud and then hard time hearing talk. constant adjusting my volume may not be worth the hassel to follow. Good luck on trail

Wait, I heard a snippet in one video where you said you were taking a year off? So there is a deadline and you’re not fully retired? Maybe now that you know us and we know you you could give us more information on the life you’ve had before this trip. I have seen the snippets on the Air Force Academy where you met but for some reason I’m curious as to what this year off is all about. If I’m being nosy just tell me to shut up. Still love the videos even the second time
We figure “gap years” are not just for college kids! So we promised ourselves a Year of Wander, immediately following Slider’s retirement. That year has stretched to over 13 months and counting (Thanks, Rona👿) and we are still wandering.
But, real life events and deadlines are starting to pop up on this calendar of ours...Time to finish this adventure and start thinking about future adventures and challenges!

Thanks for stating the distance you went after you made it to springer and then to your first shelter . I was wondering how far before a shelter came up after you hiked the 8 mile approach.

Just came across your video. I’ll see if I can look at your prior videos to understand your reference to being on the trail again. I’ll be on the trail in mid April as a flip flopper starting south of Harpers Ferry. Good luck on your adventure.
AT2020 FlipFlop - BjCzyz We’ve been sectioning for three years, covering the AT from Damascus to Caledonia State Park. Now we have the luxury of time to get our trail legs and keep them!
