Love the 4.6s in these things, sounds good with the right setup too . Feels like I'm reliving the 2000s. Those days were long gone, glad we still have time capsules on the internet.
Traffic is a real nightmare in NYC. I live near Phoenix, AZ. Totally different. I have a 2006 Grand Marquis with 381,000 miles on it and a 2007 Grand Marquis with 36,000 miles on it. Panther cars are the best.
I drove a yellow cab in nyc from 1977 to 1993 sometimes it was fun , I drove from 5a to 5p but i would actually work it from 7a to 5pm days n deal with bad traffic, i survived . I would like 2 buy a medallion but there to expensive n I'm not sure if it's still really worth it . God bless my fellow cabbies.
During the age of the Checker and Caprice. Wonderful cars, but a much tougher environment and lifestyle then I imagine. Medallions aren't worth near what they used to be, but they are slowly coming back up thanks to Uber's inability to please the workforce.
It has yellow painters tape over everything that can be noted as identifiable. Though, this doesn't stop people from trying to get in it - all the time!
It has to be calibrated at a meter shop using a special computer and communications dock with the correct software and firmware for the meter, as it differs from city to city. Pulsar doesn't exist anymore, so unfortunately it's getting harder to find someone to do it.
Do those crown vics have a limp mode after years of abuse and super high milage that ever comes on, or do they just basically keep running no matter what? Super interesting cabs
Hi. I am Branko Lazić, documentary filmmaker. I have an idea to make a documentary film with the question "What are all the things people hang on their car's rearview mirror?"Or what we put in front of us when we go on a journey ?. I see that in this yours film you have a great video of what your companions put on the rearview mirror. I have a small request, could I use this 30 second clip of yours in my movie. Of course I would sign you as the author at the end of the film. Thank you very much and have a good trip.
Nice video.👍 I think that too many japanese and european cars in the NYC streets.🤔 Especially I think that too many Ford Transit and Ram Promaster. World need back new Ford Econolines and Dodge Ram Vans. And of course new Crown Victorias. But the past will never return.😐
Good question! I learned it is as follows: legally, the vehicle must have all decals and identifiable features (medallion, roof light) obscured from view. Even then, people will try to hail you. I needed to go to get the meter repaired and was told to cover everything up so we can verify the harness was good to the car.
God bless the Ford Crown Victoria
This was on my bucket list to be in a crown Vic taxi in NYC, at least I can do it virtually. Thank you for the footage!
Absolutely! Shame they didn't get much fanfare as the light dimmed on them. Hope this gets some of that great feeling across.
Same but in the cash cab.
That looks and sounds sweet. NIce to see the taximeter working. You must be very proud of this car. It is lovely
Holup holup is this the Crown Vic featured on RCR? This is so coo! Thanks for keeping a part of nyc history alive

i love how all those 4.6 motors had that whirl wind like sound to them.
Its the transmission that makes that noise in first.
It's the torque converter.
More of these drive! It was a fun watch! You drive it very softly taking good care of it. Very nice!
More to come, with different environments too! Thanks, I really don't like pushing this car, I think it has seen a hard enough life for that.
@@NathanielTabora yeah I understand. Good luck to you!
I've always wanted to take a ride in a Crown Vic taxi in New York City, and now I can! Thanks for the video!
Wow I'd be losing my mind if i had to drive there
I know I’ve been in one but I was too young to appreciate it then. I think they are all gone now. I like that shifter btw!
This is awesome. I have the urge to watch Seinfeld now.
The wood grain on that dash
I miss the crown vics
Awesome! You’ve gotta make more of these driving videos

We need live streams of this.

im curious what it looked like on the outside for you to be able to legally drive it in the city

Million times better than the nasty Toyota Prius heaps now
What's wrong with the Prius?
How does the taxi meter work like how do you set it up/calibrate

The New Crown Vic Come Out in 2023 I Guess
Beautiful car. Sad to see NYC now with the Nissan NV200's and Toyota's. NYC has lost it's uniqueness, just another expensive city.
Couldn't agree more.
Town car and crown vic are the best American cars ever. Unfortunately, China and Japan took over, and now you onlycan see toyotas in the city
Here from regular car reviews. I wish i could get my hands on 1 but im in Alabama we dont have taxis down here. Did it come with dispatch radios?

i hope i will buy crown vic
im saving my money for one!
كنت اعتقد انه تقاعدت من خدمة الاجره لكن موجوده للان؟
Yes, I live an hour from the city. Sometimes I bring it back for some fun or if something needs to get fixed I can't do at home.

When your in the city do you turn off overdrive or just leave it on?
Nice video.👍

Yes, and sadly, all but the Toyota's suck from what I've been told too. Hold on to the past while looking forward to the future.
Profile driving
Were you able to pick up good women with that taxi car?😂
When i visit NYC, i’ll call u
i thought retired nyc taxis aren't allowed on nyc roads

@@NathanielTabora Another question since you have the LWB crown vic wouldn't it be hard to get it replaced? Like if it gets dented or scratched?
The rear doors I'm talking about since they're longer
@@Dave-zi7bwif one got damaged it would be extremely hard to find another one
