Wagons all the way before any SUV.
I just got the V60 polestar. First thing I did was ditch the Continental 235 width tires for a set of 245 width Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Made a huge difference. Sticky tires can reduce your zero to 60 by up to a half second. It’s a great mod that won’t void your warranty
did u notice a different in handling?
@@aarstraa Big difference in handling. My lease is up so I had the stock tires put back on. The stock tires make much more noise, the ride is stiffer, and the car has noticeable torque steer.
@@metricmortgagecorp9042 thanks for your answer:). does it feel much heavier than a 3-series/c-class or a audi a4?
I love the say NO to an SUV part. I'm not an SUV fan, to put it mildly. Yeah, Volvo's latest iteration of the Polestar kick-ass wagon is this one. They used to come in a light blue color that was nice. This one is the best looking too. Good job, Brian, nice review.
Nice wagon...price will kill sales for most people.
Great review Brian. I’m not a huge fan of Volvos or wagons but this one is really pretty nice. Thanks for filling in for MotoMan.
Thanks, Lee!
Good job, Brian! Beautiful wagon, I love the colour 😍
Stan Oster thanks, Stan! It’s exactly what I’d buy!
VW ID Space is basically my dream car now. A BEV RWD Wagon. Just say no to SUVs.
2015-2018 was the last years of the true polestar cars. They came with Pilot Super Sports standard and were tested on the track. These new Polestar just don't cut it with. I am a Volvo for life guy but I can't rock with the new 4 bangers
They cut it in terms of everything else. One day, you know someone is going to do an engine transplant on them. What if they were electric?
I can't agree with you more! I have a '16 V60 Polestar. The sound and torque of a 3.L, i6 Turbo is just undeniable! My daily driver is a Tesla, but my Polestar is my one of a kind baby! I've considered trading for the 4cyl supercharge, but I can't get myself to pull the trigger because if I do, I'll start having remorse. I guess you have to own the first gen polestar to understand.
If sports wagons had 2 extra inches of ground clearance and slightly beefed up wheel arches, I think a lot of SUV drivers would switch over to wagons. Volvo's Cross Country lineup does that, and it's a very attractive car.
You can always buy an V60 cross country then you get extra clearance :-) go and buy now!
The seats look amazing
I have one with 405 hp.And the same colour. 0-100 km i 4,5 sek. It’s a very sporty car to drive. And also AWD.
Some review, Brian; thank you! If the V60 PE is good enough for you, sir: steering feel, brakes, suspension, power delivery, and overall dynamic balance, it is more than good enough for the vast majority of us/drivers. I am definitely going to test one soon. gtiz5
Love my Volvos. But that version will be years old before I can afford it. Lottery win though it’s a no brainier
Great job on the video👍🏻
Was great to have @brianmakse on the show while I was out . . . He always does excellent work!
At this price point were talking about M340i price.... I still believe the 3 series is a better drivers car plus that the T8 powertrain was originally designed for fuel efficiency unlike the hybrid in my Panamera 4E that was designed to be boosting power from scratch. So tuning the T8 must be a hell of a work, like tuning a Prius into a sports sedan.
My friend owned a S90 T8 for a year and he was very sceptical when I told him I was gonna buy the hybrid version of the Panamera since he claimed that the S90 was nowhere as fast as advertised. But having test driven the Panamera 4E i could immediately tell that Porsche was not joking with their hybrid drivetrain. It was meant to be fast from the day they developed it in the 918 spyder.
David Chiu The Porsche hybrid system and Volvo’s T8 are 2 different units (one has the electric motor in the gearbox, the other has 2 independent axles)...
Both are seriously quick but the Volvo looses pace when the battery is not reasonably charged, + it has a more « relaxed » engine setup...not that it’s bad, it’s just not a Porsche.
I have a V60 T8 Polestar, exactly like the one in vidéo only in black, and it’s fast/efficient/fun/beautiful/whatever, but I can understand it might not deliver the same sensations as a Porsche.
But all is not lost, the Polestar package really adds something in that powertrain - power band has more power overall, you get more torque sooner, gear shifts are faster...
I’d still go for the Volvo, it’s prettier and more « unique » imo than a Porsche, but that’s my opinion - the only thing that matters is that we both have fun in our Prius on steroids.
@@lookcloser4536 I mean your right since you own the car. I havent test driven it yet i just heard it from my friends experience with the S90 T8. That wasnt a Polestar either and was bigger than the V60 as well so that could be the real reason why he did not appreciate that drivetrain. However the upside with the Porsche hybrid drivetrain is that it does not have to be charged to deliver that performance. I always end up with more battery than started when i take it out for a spin in sport or sport+ mode cuz the car basically uses the battery only to eliminate the turbo lag when you touch the throttle but the engine is always running in these 2 modes. As long as the turbo lag is eliminated the battery doesnt do much work anymore.
Wow very cool wagon and the crossover even better for Canadian conditions. But reliability? Supercharged on top of turbo and electrification on top of that. What could possibly go wrong?
Would be interesting to see a V90 polestar 👍
Kumo agrees.
Gorgeous car, inside and out. Why anyone would prefer an SUV to this is beyond me. It's pricey for the polestar version, but the cross country version is more my speed. Volvo is killing it
For almost $70K...this Volvo V60 T8 Polestar...or low miles certified pre-owned W212 Mercedes E63 wagon...🤔
Being that paying depreciation is against my religion, E63.
$70k - $5k for fed tax credit - good luck finding a low mile E63 for $65k.
@@craigbrickner1223 I can find W212s E63 wagons for 35-45k reliably around me with lower miles
Let me tell you people. This wagon is bad ass and amazing in person. It stands out beautifully and bold. I want one so bad but the price is a no go. I will wait a few years before I snatch one up.
Thumbs up really like your review style
YES, say NO to SUV period, also volvo makes the best wagons in the world 💯👌
What are those horrible yellow strips on the front bumper? Dealer forgot to remove them, I hope?
Well it matches the yellow calipers and seatbelts🤣 hellcats also have those protective yellow strips and owners doesn't even remove them sometimes.
@@evoemperor3776 Right. "Horrible " is a strong word choice.
Those are an inside joke on my channel. Jump over there for more.
@@evoemperor3776 Indeed. I bring a roll of yellow tape everywhere I go. Did the same to the Aventador on this channel and a bunch of cars on my channel.
Where are these hardcore car guys in their wagons? I never see them. ever.
Here's the dirty little secret about these types of cars: Whether it be Volvo/Polestar in this case, Porsche, Audi or Mercedes, they only import a couple hundred of these extreme examples per year. They sell every one of them they make. In the case of the AMG E63s and Audi RS6, they could bring in 5 times as many and still sell out. More here: ruclips.net/video/g85q0xhCAQ8/видео.html

Wagons for life! 💥💪
How about you tell us how much horse power does it has ??
Info from Cars.com- Total system output tops out at 415 horsepower and 494 pounds-feet of torque. The V60 T8 Polestar Engineered also gets an EPA-estimated 22 miles of electric only range on a full charge, so shorter trips can be taken without using any gas at all.
with all those high prices on wagons, no wonder why people keep buying those inefficient SUVs
Le Chat Botté as if a suv with this driving potential would be any cheaper, just buy the basic v60
Le Chat Botté That's a great point! And Volvo's reliability is questionable. Mazda has a gorgeous wagon of the 6 in other markets. I wish they would bring it to North America. Then again, we don't buy them. However, I don't think we've ever had a great choice of wagons in North America. The better looking ones have always been in the luxury segment, which means that they've always been expensive, much like this one; the other ones were the ugly Camry and Accord. Then there was the 6 wagon, which existed at a time when even fewer people bought Mazdas. I would love to see more wagons this side of the Atlantic.
Did you buy a Regal TourX? Did you buy a VW Alltrack or Golf Sportwagon?
Bad ass wagon!
It be nice if they still have does straight six or five engines rather than overstressed 4 banger
I've had several Volvos and this engine keeps me away from the brand. Too over stressed, too complex. Like you said, give me a 500,000 mile str8 6 cyl.
I guess I’m old school. When I see a man in an SUV, I naturally think he got stuck picking up the kids, or his car is in the shop and he had to drive his wife’s car.
mgmcd1 by old school you mean sexist ;)
Thanks Brian, great Job. My only issue with a wagon is they are too low. An suv has much better visibility driving down the road. Seeing what is ahead of you and around you is a big advantage to me. I have a low car now as well as a 4x4 truck and I hate the fact that in the car I can not see if the snail in front of me is the guy causing the problem, or if it is the guy in front of him, or the guy in front of him, etc. In the truck, I always know what I am dealing with.
Also, there is the feeling of in the event of an accident, I feel like in a low vehicle I will be the guy at the bottom of the dog pile instead of the guy on the top.
Thanks, Tony. Depends on what you prioritize, I suppose. No question people like taller vehicles for visiblity, hip point, etc.
@@BrianMakse ,.....Yes, I forgot about the getting in and out. The taller vehicle makes it so much easier. At 60, that kind of detail makes a big difference.
Jaguar XF Sportbrake (Wagon) is a potentially great alternative.
Comparable to c43 wagon sold in Canada
...and yet not remotely as cool as the Polestar.
All that talk and not one time did he talk about the horsepower
He's not good with numbers.
@@BrianMakse Kumo agrees.
@@BrianMakse lmao good one
Great Volvo, comparable to a BMW M340i xdrive?
If they sold a 3-Series wagon here.
if you want to test it it must be against an 330e wagon which will be coming out in europe at least this summer... But 340i why test a full gas vs an hybrid i still dont get it :) its just done on too many car comparision outlets.
@@madmoocow2010 Price point. $70k USD gets you a fully loaded, top-trim M340i xDrive or S4/S5. If you value an engaging drive more than the hybrid novelty, then the Volvo is going to under-deliver compared to those alternatives. If you aren't married to the driving dynamics and a good shove is enough to satisfy you, the Volvo will do fine and have a neat party trick. Also wagon.
@@vomErsten so is the 330e with the same party tricks.I just think to compare the party trick car with each other makes more sense then go out and select the v6‘s and compare the hybrids. Funny enough is that the BMW hybrid is often compared to the 330i Mercedes c-class 300e and c-class 300de is often compared to the c300d and C300 all 2. liter engines im not sure if bmw and mercedes is putting more pressure on the reviewers to prevent comparisons to the similar priced 3 liter v6s. It’s just annoying me in any car reviews established cars get the velvet gloves and car brands like Volvo get the rusty nail. I mean there is enough to criticize like do we need hybrids, the navigation system is just not on par especially looking at the polestar 2 Android auto system. Looking at BMW and Merc the wagons available in some countries are stupid with their tiny tiny storage rooms. I just think it would be nice if the comparisons done would be more fair and balanced :) But ye same price i would also go for the V6 at this point or just full electric.
Denis T. The BMW 330e caps out just over $60,000 US. If this were a regular T8, I would agree that it shouldn't be compared against the M340i or S4, but it isn't. It's a Polestar Engineered and literally the sportiest trim on their sportiest vehicle. For the price it commands and the bits they've bolted to it, it should stand against the Germans and it just can't.
Honestly, this car makes no sense. This car has performance bits that are too hardcore for luxury with a powertrain and drive line that are unsuitable for engaging driving. It has the cool factor of being a wagon and quick in a straight line, but they don't have enough of a monopoly on that market to make that a compelling argument.
Marketing semantics aside and S UV is a station wagon for men whose wives want them to drive many vans but have enough money to make the slight deviation.
I wish Volvo made a real pickup truck.
I'll bite: Why?
@@MotoManTV Not a fan of wagons and light duty pickups are huge sellers in the u.s. I prefer a truck over a wagon or suv
@@weirdshibainu They make really big rig trucks. I don't think Volvo's ever made a pickup truck.
@@weirdshibainu light duty trucks should not be referred to as a huge market lol. New Ford ranger sales were poor. Honda Ridgeline sales low. Toyota Tacoma did great and Chevy Colorado. I would consider an F150 medium duty, as well as GMC, Chevy Silverado.
AMG E63, Audi RS6, Porsche Panemara Wagon yes they are all more money and a bit bigger but if you are willing to pay 68k for a Volvo wagon I doubt you are pinching pennies that and the base Mercedes and Porsche wagons probably equal the Volvo’s performance. I like the Volvo, I have a Volvo but I’d look at base or used Mercedes and maybe Porsche’s at the price of the Volvo.
Maybe I'm not really understanding, but you seem to like this vehicle, and the video description says both you and Motoman agree on this...yet the video is titled Just say NO to an SUV.
That V60 ain't no SUV.
It is a wagon. What is not to understand?
@@Turbo_S_Em_funf Right.
What's wrong with motor man?
Nothing's wrong with him, we still like him. If you are asking where he is - a few episodes back he gave an update, temporary away while he recovers from a car injury.
@@iaskosam ok thanks. I only watch this intermittently.
Glad he's on the mend
Who cares about the speed. With all these cameras everywhere. It's all about consumption and reliability
Thank God. Motoman is slow and boring
I love my Macan. What is this holier than thou attitude of motor journalists against SUVs. Another site to unsubscribe.
Some of us have a responsibility to have a car an elderly parent can get in and out comfortably but still be a great drive.
Bahahahaha! All you did was read the title! Nice work watching the vid!
Lot of folks get SUVs just to get them. I have no problem with anyone getting whatever vehicle they want because they need to. And you state a good reason for them. But I do have a problem with SUV drivers looking down at wagon drivers. Wagons, to me, will always be cooler than SUVs as vehicles.
