  • Conditions of the Comparison:
    - All turntables used the same cartridge/stylus (except "Frankenstein")
    - Same system, settings and volume
    - Stylus was cleaned between each song for every turnable, and a static brush was used prior to each play
    - Tracking was kept to 2 grams
    (each of the vintage turntables have separate videos if anyone wants to hear them play on their own - links at the end of the video)

    - 2channel stereo 16 bit, 48k Hz
    - Audio level peaking held to -6 db
    - WAV file format
    - PCM External Recorder, direct from Headphone output
    - Pro-ject Phono Box phono pre-amp
    - Receiver: Marantz 2235 (Tone settings zeroed, no Loudness)
    - Cartridge: Ortofon 2M Blue
    - Frankenstein Cartridge: Audio-Technica AT-VM95 ML

      Thanks! Took a minute to put together. But I was honestly curious what these 'tables would sound like side-by-side. That Frankenstein makes the rotation to my main listening station A LOT! So, that should say something about how much I like it. As for the Ortofon battle... I think that Hitachi may have a slight edge. Something about it sounds richer than the others. Peace, brother.
