      Thanks mate!! Yeah it’s good fun, I don’t like running less than 20lb main line as a lot of the fish encountered are put there to destroy or steal tackle 😂

    Gidday Mick a suggestion if your ever anchored and need to chase a fish attach a float to the end of your anchor rope. When anchoring tie off with a slip knot so in a hurry pull slip knot dump rope and float overboard and chase fish when your done come straight back and pick up float and your at it again.

    Thank you for these excellent videos. Your videos give me so much encouragement to try new things. I have been land fishing with bait only on and off all my life. I have recently brought a boat to fish from and finding it difficult. Watching you catch fish in and around Mackay is encouraging that there is fish in the water. I have just one question. I have an old sounder with out side scan how important do you think a good sound is to finding where the fish are. Thanks

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  3 года назад

      Hey Scott,
      Glad your liking the videos and they can help, ditch the bait and commit to lures only, you can cover more ground and you’ll learn more as you try new things. Thats the first jump into catching more and better fish! As for the sounder question, it does help with your confidence knowing you’re fishing on fish or structure, but a lot of the time it can be more of a hindrance.. I’ve caught a lot more, and bigger barra with no sounder than I have with it...

    Hi Mick, what sort of combo are you running and what are they worth? I’m looking at baitcaster rod a reel combos now. I’m not a pro but I’m looking for something under 500 for some Barra/jack over Christmas

    Fowl hooked a big ray

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  3 года назад

      Possibly, but I would have thought a stingray would suction itself to the bottom as they do…,
      I did see a shark on the side imaging also but we were fishing a school of big threadfin and barra, any of those foul hooked has the potential for a spooling.
