To play devil's advocate, there was a time where in the 90s where street credibility (bumping out the whips, bumping in the clubs, street cats vouching for certain rappers, etc.) mattered in rap because it lent credibility to your artistic expression. Every rapper wasn't street but it carried more weight when it came with a street perspective and Hip-Hop came from the streets so there will always be a street perspective within it. It's evolved beyond just the hood, but that street perspective matters and hence what gives hip-hop it's authentic voice. I respect Em for not cosplaying like a black artist and showcased himself as a white man within hip-hop. In fact I believe all of the focus on his lyricism and technical wordplay skill is overcompensation to validate his place in the genre. His skills and his own personal expression earned him his spot, because he couldn't lean on street credibility for validation or acceptance in the artform. And then he did one better and created platforms for his Detroit boys and others to EAT!!!! (Shade 45) That alone I can at least RESPECT from a contribution standpoint.

Evil twin, castle arose, Cinderella man, we are not alike, Zeus, unacommodating, bad guy, Fall, Venom, Square Dance, Drips, Till I collapse are all songs that are constant on my playlist. The new album has been played more than 10 times ever since it came out. Head Honcho, fuel, Lucifer and somebody save me are my favorites. I am from a small village in Botswana and I have been listening to Eminem since 2001 and he is my favorite .

It's like watching the end of the movie. The protagonist has done the antagonist real foul, and you say "they didn't gotta go that hard" while ignoring all the foul shiz the antagonist was doing.
When people say people in the hood ain't playing Eminem, they're saying he ain't relevant and no one important listens to him. But they fail to realize that they hood ain't even important.
Last I checked, people in the hood don't even buy records like that. So who cares what they be listening to? Right?
For the record, Matt is just explaining he understands why Eminem is not blasted in most hoods. He's not salty, his show is one of the rare black hip hop media to always recognise Eminem's greatness, regardless of his skin color.

Put eminem and busta rhymes on features or collaboration tracks all day, and everybody would rock with them songs all the time......

Eminem got a hard-core white fanbase that got introduced to rap because of him so he will always sell no matter what....

Best battle of all time was Pac and Big they both had memorable tracks and it wasn’t ever completely one sided. Every other battle ever has been one sided… Dot killed BBL Drizzy, 50 killed them fools, Cube slayed, Em killed all competitors, etc…
At 50 years old no rapper maybe even artist is doing these numbers at that age.
