Dressing for revenge is such a great way to say getting up, getting ready, going to the studio to re-record the stolen albums. Taylor never loses! Why anyone would cross her at this point baffles me. She made it clear years ago, "There´s nothing I do better than revenge". You gotta love a vengeful queen!

I have thought since their divorce was announced that Yael must hear "she should be mad, she should be scathing like me, but no one likes a mad woman" in her head on repeat, but that's just a thought from a woman who's never met her so who really knows. Vigilante Sh*t has the most underrated bridge of Taylor's career.

Scooter Braun created a fund that was based on Swift's original recorded albums - he was going to pay out profits based on the income generated by them. Only Swift re-recorded her albums and radio stations were told that if they used the Braun-owned recordings they wouldn't have access to Swift's new music (created post Braun) - so there were no profits from the old master recordings. Braun had to return the money that was invested in his funds, only - gosh - about $100 million dollars was missing! And *THAT* is why the FBI is investigating him (and also probably the last straw for his wife).
So what is the moral of this story? Taylor was correct when she said "There is nothing I do better than revenge".

I found someone's theory on the "he was doing lines" part (well his thought more like) he had re-watched the KW phone call fiasco and for whatever reason, he connected it to this part in the song:
"he was doing lines --- rehearsing lines or acting out HIS lines as if reading from a script
"while crossing all of mine" --- essentially erasing/editing everything she said in that phone call.
I found it refreshing and again with HER songs it fits the narrative as well, so who knows.

Also the “she needed cold hard proof so I gave her some she got the envelope where you think she got it from” is almost definitely about Kim because she brought a huge envelope to the divorce trail and because of that Kim “gets the house gets the kids gets the pride”

I love this song. Taylor is a great example of how to navigate this man's world. I love that she just comes out and says exactly what she did. I don't think anyone else will dare mess with her again. "I don't start shit but I can tell you how it ends". We can all learn so much from how TS handles the situations where narcissistic men take advantage of her. Being a "nice girl" is not an option when you're dealing with snakes, you need to go all vigilante shit.
Your line about her being the worst of his problems reminds me so much of the quote “if I cannot become better than them, I will become so much worse” from my favorite book and honestly this song gives me the same vibes as the character who says it

Thanks, Mere for another great analysis. I think her other song, Karma, links well with Vigilante Shit. I wonder sometimes how many times Taylor has proactively unleashed Karma upon those who have wronged her in the past. Kinda curious about that.

Genius Lyrics says the word is innocents, not innocence, and I agree because to me this is a direct reference to Kanye for whom she composed Innocent after he 'apologized' for storming the stage in 2009. Also, "thick as thieves with your ex-wife" refers to, imo, Kim K, who I believe released the entire audiotape of that infamous phone call with Kanye, clearing Taylor in the process. To me, Taylor and Kim K have reconciled, but are keeping it hush hush.
I don’t honestly think she’s referencing “cocaine” when she says “He was doing lines” I think it’s about Kanye writing lines in his songs and then crossing all of hers

Hi! I have a suggestion that I'd love to see you dissecting. That's about the "Preacher's Daughter" album by Ethel Cain because it is very narrative, being literally a story told through the songs and it's very about generational and religious trauma, toxic relationships and some very sad and heavy psychological topics. Though it's very different from Taylor songs, but maybe you would enjoy it!

I think "ex wife" can also be translated to "people who distanced themselves from the villain". Like friends and family, because they now understand or even experienced the things you went through with them.
