  • If you are an individual who currently does not know what they want to do specifically in your career then do not worry. I am going to talk you through my own experience here in dealing with this issue and exactly what helped me to decide on a career in accounting and finance.
I get many questions on the channel from current professionals, individuals currently studying other topics or those setting off on their career path and first job. Questions range from how do I get into accountancy as a career, is it too late to switch careers and how do I know which career is the right one for me so hopefully I can answer a few of those questions in this video.
If you have any questions about this topic then please do feel free to pop them in the comments section below and I will do my best to help.
Let me know your own experiences below in the comments section and how you came to the conclusion on which career you wanted to go down x

Hi thanks for your videos they are really useful. I currently work in admin and I’m doing aat level 3 with 3 exams left. I was going to study CiMA or ACCA with a distance leaning training provider. The only thing is I did try and apply for purchase ledger and accounts assistant role and got no reply so I transferred over to admin which is good and hopefully get accounts experience in an area within the business. But may not be ACCA or CIMA related 😁

Hi Md it's certainly not too late at all and you could qualify from aat within two years and then possible undertake the ACCA, CIMA, ACA or another higher qualification soon after. If I was starting over again I would try and find an employer offering an apprenticeship or student contract to put you through the exams while learning on the job. I hope this helps :)

    Thank you for your videos.
I've been in customer services in all my previous jobs but now I really want to start working in accounting. It looks like level 2 AAT is what I should start with but I realised that is long way until I get to work in this industry. Is hard to find relevant work experience while you study and pay the bills. Any advice? Does anyone really hire when you're such a beginner?

Hi Hadassa yes you could always try and find an apprenticeship or a study contract where they often pay for your tuition and study and you learn on the job, salaries for this are usually dependant on past experience and or level etc but it is worth looking into to gain that experience whilst undertaking study. If you have a look on the aat website they have a list of learning providers and approved employers so you could then go to their websites or contacts and see if they are hiring. Now is a good time to look too because usually hiring times for such jobs are September and January x

There was a comment on here which was very poignant and wanted to show it to my work colleagues and you've deleted it. Why did you do that? Instead of offering words of encouragement you delete the comment. How immature is that.

Hi Catherine which comment hun I don't tend to delete comments but sometimes youtube will delete a comment before I reach it if it thinks it's spam x

@@RebeccasFinanceTutorials So glad it wasn't you. I've got 3 members of staff studying AAT and they mention your channel. I don't remember who the comment was from but it was a very long and interesting comment. Nevermind. If it's gone it's gone. Keep up the good work.
