@@shelbynamels7948 Definitely worth watching ,if you like Brookside say then you'll find in the storylines in Take the High similar and the blend of drama and subtle humour again similar.
Thank you for posting . I loved TTHR growing up . I think Victoria wood got some of her inspiration for acorn antiques from the shoogly sets and acting . The cliffhangers in eastenders were all serious but high road would be Effie running out of lasagne at the Ardnacraig or someone’s knickers being stolen off a line !
@Patrick Cosgrove I too loved take the high road. I haven’t watched it since I left Edinburgh in 1999 when I was nearly 8. I found this two days ago and so far it’s keeping me entertained during our 4th lockdown here in Auckland.
The sponsorship butchered the opening sequence. Not sure why they thought shortening the name to High Road was necessary, but I guess it worked for Emmerdale Farm.
High Road = Scotland's answer to Emmerdale? Rural settings, shit ton of the same actors (notablie Natalie J Robb) and directors, Both eventually changed their names after A Decade plus and generally treated like the "Poor Relation" of their network for a number of years.
I have the previous one on tape. Not watched it although i am curious as to why they are shunning Blairs Store. I can't remember. New producer too so i'm guessing he was instrumental in some of the changes.
+rosebankross Agree, although Sheila wasnt quite on everyone elses side i noticed. What a miserable sod Alun Morgan was. Why she didnt ditch him earlier i dont know.
I'm watching the episodes on STV Player. Spoilers but question: On 1106, Lynne and Emma leave for France. Sad to see two great strong female characters disappear. But within the space of these episodes we lose Andy Semple, Duncan Strachan, Sadie Mcdonald, Nick Stapleton. Why were so many characters suddenly cut from the series was there a new producer or did they all just decide to leave at the same time? Some of the characters just disappear and their interesting stories happened off screen it's really strange and bad writing. Why would you not have such strong characters been given at least one episode to wrap up the storyline on screen.
Brilliant! I watched these episodes on the STV youtube channel a few years ago before they were removed. Isabel had done something to Carol, but I can't remember what, and that's why everybody was turning against her. Do you have any of the episodes surrounding Gary's exit? Was a great story line for Sam, the Ramsays and the McDonalds.
If only we could get entire seasons of the series on DVD or legal download for a reasonable price. Take the High Road (TTHR) is the only good TV series that Natalie J. Robb (see her at 22:11) ever starred in, even though TTHR is still just a crappy soap opera full of wooden actors. Natalie J. Robb was one of the few good actors in it. That episode in 1992 when she sang in the church was one of the best episodes. If someone has that episode and/or some of the episodes immediately either side of it could you please upload them to RUclips.
i don't think dissing the other actors is very productive or respectful. You might be a fan of that particular actor (for some reason) but it doesn't mean the others were bad. Are you even aware of some of the other works and amazing performances some of the other actors have given in other productions?
My memory might be hazy. But. Wasent therE a ep where it turned out jockey (could not remember his name ) strangled a young guy he was in a leather jacket. That or he hit his head off something.
+Inverness Stuart That would be great to see again if you'd be so kind. Either way, thank you very much for this episode! Sam very much camping up the "bitch is back" scene at the end there.
This show/soap ran from 1980 to 2003 for 1450 episodes, and I had never heard of this show before. What a shame.

@@shelbynamels7948 Actually it ran for 1,517 episodes or even1,520 if you count the 2 Millennium specials and a Hogmanay special from 1987.
It was on English TV 📺
On week day afternoons
In the 80s 90s As I remember it🎉

Don't get me started about sponsorship. I HATE IT.
Product placement is my big hate. It poisons shows.

STV player is getting closer to these episodes now,we're up to episode 1100 already.
I'm on about 1170 do you know why they got rid of so many characters in the space of about 10 episodes?
Lynne Emma Duncan Sadie Nick Andy
This dross was every bit as badly acted as Crossroads, and that is saying something.😂

Can I reupload the adverts?
Stv player has the first broadcast of this as 5.8.94
Would hate to say STV are wrong but my note on the VCR says 22 July and wikipedia supoorts that. Maybe the August date was the ITV national airing.

Yes, I agree maybe someone could upload by year order from '80 until end of '02 at least.

I wish to ask if I can use the opening titles from your clip on twitter? I will give direct link to your video.
Hi. Of course. Happy for it to be shared.
@@invernessstuart9996 thank you, it will be be used in July for 30th Anniversary
I have the episode where Peter Odell killed Gary and the episode where Sneddon found Peters body after he committed suicide.

If you have the one where Sarah gives birth to baby Sadie that would be great
No doubt Sheila Ramsey will have a few more notches on her bed post by the end of this series.
