What is the last lesson you learned while traveling? On this trip we learned to always check our camelbacks before we pack them and hold them upside down to make sure they don't leak.
Don’t rush when packing. Slow, methodical and double check. My last lesson was last week and a tough one. I packed a 3mm wetsuit instead of a 7mm. I was diving shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. The water temperature was in the mid to upper 40s. Dry suits recommended. I froze my ass off! But it was worth it. Epic dives. By the way, it is almost criminal for me too to not have visited Glacier National Park. I’m on a journey to visit every National Park over the next couple of years. I’m saving Glacier for last. The hikers park. I can’t wait. Another great video Alice. Thanks!
I stopped using camel paks or bladders for several reasons. Leaking was one. I have made my own camelpak bottle with straw. It works so much better never leaks, easy to clean , easy to fill, and get back into a stuffed bag. I worked on perfecting it for a long time. i have an internal staw that was designed to retract and expand to fit any size bottle and not lose any water. Been using it for a few years. And love it...
Me and my family were there yesterday! We live in Missoula now, so we drive to GNP a lot! You don't need a reservation to Going to the Sun Road if you go before 6AM or after 3PM. Bc of the rain..We hiked to Sunrift Gorge and Baring Falls and did a boat ride yesterday. There are lots of beautiful hikes around Missoula also.. in Lolo, and Stevensville :) Montana is such a beautiful state. Thank you for sharing your hikes!
Alice, Very timely video. Glacier is part of a ten day Rocky Mt road trip that I'm taking with my Grandson (Grandpa 71 and Grandson 14) in July. I'm so looking forward to spending one on one generational time with him. Thanks!
This is my favorite National Park of all with Yosemite a close second. Glacier just has so much wildlife and the views are amazing. Hiking and camping is super sketchy due to the Grizzlies but totally worth it. No cel signal and very little built structures make it feel so remote. The are also some amazing hikes outside the Park like the Mt Aeneas trail which is stunning and a must do if you are in the area.
Hiking and camping is not super sketchy. You just have to be aware and don’t do stupid shit like have food in your tent, eat close to where you’re gonna sleep, and keep your distance. 😉
Amazing video, reminds me of the trip I took to Glacier about 10 years ago. I've been to 40 national parks so far and to this day, Glacier NP remains my favorite!
I reside a short 90 minute drive from Glacier National Park 🇺🇸 which has a boundary with Waterton National Park 🇨🇦 on the Canadian side. You gotta be there to have a good feel of the place. Even the best pic taken cannot give justice to the area. The Rocky Mountains are majestic. I could see a burnt area from your footage, a major fire happened over here 4-5 years ago and almost half the park suffered from it, some areas are still closed to the public. Thanks for sharing Alice 😎👍🥾🏔
You should be fine travelling. The road that leads to Port Renfrew follows the south shoreline, passing through Sooke where I used to live until last year. Too bad I am not there anymore, you could have stopped by for lunch before heading to the trailhead 😢
Thanks for taking us back to Glacier. We experienced of the place you showed two yers ago. A spectacular park. A highlight for us was the Grinnell glacier hike. Cheers!
Thanks for sharing your hikes. Glacier NP is our favorite. We had to modify our plans often based upon bear activity. There are so many beautiful hiking trails, rivers, waterfalls. Glad you and your sister enjoyed it.
Thank you Karl yea we had do some modifications also due to weather as you saw. We also wanted to hike to cracker lake but it was too wet so we got red eagle in the lottery instead. It’s a beautiful park
I'm planning to visit Glacier national park next summer. Thank you for the video. It gave me necessary insight about hiking there. Thanks for the video.
@@AliceFordAdventures I stopped overnight and camped in Red Eagle's Campground in East Glacier last summer when traveling through the area but definitely want to get back there.
Remember the scene in The Birdcage? How many mothers does Val have? Well, How many Alice Fords are there? How do you do it? You are literally on different continents and countries and extreme locations. The treat of traveling along with your adventures is delightful 🙂
The Birdcage movie really resonates with me. Don't know how many Alice Fords there allbut she pretty much always seems to be in a cheerful mood. She seems particularly cheerful, though, when hanging out with her sister.
Wonderful episode Alice 😊 In July 2014, we got to camp for 2 weeks in Glacier, and explored so many areas of the park. Back then, we just drove in and grabbed a spot. Times have definitely changed. I always wanted to get back and spend some more time on the east side and stay in that beautiful hotel. Great advice and tips for those who plan on getting out there to explore 😊
Thank you so much, yes so many more people are discovering nature it’s making it quite difficult to snag an opening but all the more better when you can
Great video. Made it to Yellowstone a few years ago (driving from Kansas City) but decided not to go to Glacier because of the driving distance and the return home. Wish I went to Glacier anyway. Spectacular!
Just discovered your channel, great stuff! You might be the final push to get me out of LA permanently. Either Juneau or Flathead Lake MT. Looking forward to more videos 🙂
It really is, last year we had the Pacific NW and now this year the east coast and Canada with the heat dome. It’s a wild and unpredictable weather year everywhere
@@AliceFordAdventures my parents live in the great plains region of Texas. The news reported a historical number of tornadoes and rain events this year. Tornadoes are normal, but I don't think weekly events are close to normal you're rights, it's been a wild and weird summer, and it's not even hurricane season.
@@AliceFordAdventures one of my students live in Hawaii. During one of our conversations, she mentioned Hawaii expecting an El Nino Summer. I think it's surreal seeing how everything she expected is coming into fruition.
Dam this is a nice area...ill be in west montana in a couple of weeks but i dont think i can get over that way, but the mount brown trail would be awesome by the looks of it
The Kootenai National Forest by the border of North Idaho has some great hikes with bridges and waterfalls too if you’re going to be in Northwestern Montana

Going to Glacier for the 1st time in mid July 2024. My son wants to do the High Line trail. Wish you were around as we're looking for a hiking guide (hint hint)
Have a great time. We really wanted to do that trail as well but that area of the park was inaccessible when I was visiting I have heard nothing but great things about it though.

Visit the north of Iran and you will be suprised , also beutifual Qeshm and Hormoz islands in the south of Iran nearby the warm waters of Persian Gulf 🤘🤘
Hotels in the park are that expensive unfortunately but there are options outside the park between $2-300 a night. It’s an expensive place to stay in the summer months. You could also try a place like Wandercamp which is flanking tents and run around $80 a night
Beautiful place, I wouldn't go unarmed grizzlies can be extremely dangerous and bear spray doesn't always work. I know attacks are rare but better safe than sorry.
Alice, Alice, Alice…those who hike in grizzly country know bear bells are pointless. Might as well be called dinner bells. The human voice and clapping are much better noisemakers than those little bells.
Well I’m not going to sing the entire trail or talk so better than nothing. But I agree they barely make any noise unless you’re shaking them like a tambourine the whole time haha
The whole reservation system to let taxpayers into the parks THEY PAY FOR is infuriating when everytime I go, I see thousands upon thousands of Chinese and foreign nationals enjoying OUR PARKS while we have to plead to be let in. F'ing disgusting!
