Even if they did debate with the big two it would change anything because of the electoral college, a party needs 50% of a states population to get ANY seats. so if let’s say the Green Party won 49% of votes in California they would win exactly zero seats in the government. That is why I and many other people hate the electoral college because the only solution is two parties.

Yet the system they designed all but garanties a 2 party system. first past the post district based voting will always gravitate towards 2 parties.
That needs to change first before more then 2 parties becomes viable. Currently all the other parties are just spoiler parties for the big 2. The greens for example get most of their funding, and leadership, from republicans, hoping to take away just enough votes from democrats so that they'll win instead.
I don't like the current 2 party system, but with our current election laws, a serious 3rd party candidate could most likely only prevent anyone from getting a majority and allow the house to decide the election.

The debates are literally broadcast live. It‘s mostly to prevent applauding and booing from the audience, which could lean the debates a certain way.

It'd be really awesome if they let the third party candidates into the debates. Ya know so people can know all the candidates better. It would be really cool if people didn't think there options were the same two guys from last time. It would be really great if we could hear all sides talk about serious topics and how they plan to address them. Wouldn't that be an awesome
The fact that Biden’s team got to call all the terms of the 2 debates and then completely shut Trump down on his request for the second 2 debates with a bigger audience on more neutral/ conservative stations is kind of bs, but I’m sure the Trump team is just ecstatic that Biden agreed at all. On the other side Biden’s team is throwing a Hail Mary and hoping that Trump says something so bad it costs him a massive chunk of the independent vote, while Biden is simultaneously able to make it all the way through the debates without forgetting what he’s saying and rambling incoherently halfway through his responses.
All Trump does is lie. And lie. And lie. Then ramble off topic so he can lie some more. If anyone wants to talk about actual policy guidelines have to be set and stuck to in order for anything to actually function - otherwise it'll turn into a Trump lie fest. Have you *seen* the videos from the 2016 election debates? The reason they're doing it that way is because Trump CANNOT control himself, especially when he's getting energized by a crowd.

Or we could have them signed legally binding non-disruption paperwork. Like if you disrupt it, you go to jail for 2 months or have to pay a fine and actually enforce it. But the accountability of having an audience is imperative to a fair debate regardless of what side you're on. If Trump is being overly harsh to Biden, he needs to know there's an audience that's not going to tolerate that. If Biden can't find his way on or off the stage or doesn't know who he is, the audience needs to know that to me it's about that extra level of accountability having other people in the room

It's basically "My opponent gave me a chance to disarm him, so I'll take it".
Also let's be honest; the crowd really doesn't add anything to these debates - if they really want audience questions they can ask for submissions beforehand and then both teams can choose questions to be asked during the debate by the moderator.

RFK should be on stage, there should be a live audience and since there's so much extra time more debates than the normal 3. Try one every 3 weeks until the election. Each debate focused on one topic with a little random relevant at the time questions at the beginning.

Trump was ok during the debates. The first one was sorta a given. But the other two were in trumps favor. The problem was that the moderators were too harsh on Trump and lot so much on Biden

There were only two debates in 2020, because Biden didn't feel up to doing three. The first debate, Trump was loud and brash. The second debate, Trump let Biden speak (proving how ineffectual Biden is as a leader).
