This would be much more helpful if the video was done above the baby.

It took us a week to master swaddling our eldest in the hospital but it was so amazing to take her home and have her comfy and settled because she absolutely loved being wrapped!

Very few babies like being swaddled. It’s cruel and completely unnecessary. Don’t believe about 99.8 percent of what you read on social media.

No baby loves to be swaddled. It’s a tool for lazy mothers. Cruel, cruel, cruel practice. Greatfully swaddling is being discouraged at least in the United States. It’s dangerous

Would’ve been handy to do the ‘continuous motion’ part at a POV angle.

This might be a dumb comment, but I just thought about how Chipotle workers would find this a breeze.

I think you shouldn't pull the baby's legs into a curled position. The baby should be able to extend his legs ( ? )

I am sorry to see that you have used an older baby - not a newborn. In my experience it is only the newborns who like being swaddled and gives them a transition time from the confined space of the womb into the huge space of the world they have just come into. Also I NEVER recommend velcroe tabs - do you want to be put into a straight jacket?? Otherwise thank you for your demonstration _/\_

Yes! Especially newborns! Because they’re used to the tight warm space in mamas womb! Helps them to feel secure 😊

How do we know they like it? If someone bound your hands and feet, would you be more comfortable? We continue to live with ancient traditions, not knowing why we do them.

Swaddling is never never necessary. It’s cruel. Have someone wrap you up for eight hours and see how you like. The instructor tells us that most babies like swaddling. Completely and totally untrue. Many babies will scream until you unwrap them.

    • @stevenpaplan7154
      @stevenpaplan7154 Год назад +8

You're definetly not correct. I'm currently in the hospital with my, as of 40 minutes ago, 2 day old. All the nurses and doctors swaddle the baby, and teach people to swaddle.
A newborn baby can't see and has no experience prior to being crammed tight a mother's womb for 9 months. It also protects them from harming themselves.
It's definetly good. My baby cries hysterically until she's wrapped into a swaddle. It's almost instantly stops her crying.
Plus my baby is on the lighter side, 5 lb 10 oz. So she has to be kept warm at all times. A swaddle is 100 percent necessary to do that, unless she's kept under a warmer.
Also, you have to feed a newborn every 2 to 3 hours. So there is never any instance where your newborn should be swaddled for 8 hours straight.
And you need to swaddle a newborn if you want to use a blanket at night or they can suffocate themselves.

Looking back in our family history,no one was ever swaddled and we were all just fine.I can,t imagine being confined and unable to move naturally.I really think people swaddle because social media tells them to.No one did this pre-internet.

@@am1170 swadling gives the baby same warmth and confinement they are used to in the womb. My baby wakes up abruptly and doesnt sleep well if not swaddled

"However, the psychologist Arthur Janov claims that even this form of swaddling has profound effects on the adult emotional life of a swaddled child. He claims that swaddling causes a lifelong deficit on oxytocin and oversupply of cortisol, resulting in a lifetime of rage and anxieties, though he does not offer a neurophysiological mechanism by which this might take place in humans.[11] One study has found that rats lose hormones in the hippocampus and orbital frontal lobes when tied up like swaddled human infants, developing depletions in serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine, exacerbated aggressive behavior and a severe decrease of social capabilities.[12]"
