- For the release of my Debut EP "After Hours" I played my first headline gig at The Folklore Rooms in Brighton on the 9th of March back in 2022, featuring two special guests of mine Georgia Hazelgrove and Julia Traser. I was so thrilled to fill out such a lovely intimate venue which was just the perfect space for me and my music, bringing the busking (very off the cuff) spirit to the Stage :D
In this video I'm playing a cover of Someone Great, an incredible song by a band I highly rate and respect; LCD Soundsystem. I've always loved the lyrics in these songs, and felt the writing stood just as easily on it's own with a simple acoustic guitar.

My debut EP After Hours is available on CD and I must say contains some rather lovely artwork I'm fairly proud of! I'm shipping internationally, however, I have run out of stock and am working on a new system for selling the CD's at the moment (my oldest friend since happy childhood days is going to post them for me because I'm in Spain!). truly amazing that all the Big Push bandmembers are also awesome solo musicians, this cover is excellent , fits Gorran voice perfectly

Gorran has the soul of a folk singer . I just found out recently that he wrote the song Swan Song that the big push sang in the church . He is really rocking this song .

@@GrahamDixonUK The original is EDM, upbeat dance music juxtaposed with these lyrics. Gorran honored the lyrics with this soulful delivery. I especially loved the emotions carried in the repeated “When someone great is gone” part. ❤❤❤

I had my last therapy session last week. My therapist didn't die, we just agreed that the path I was on didn't need that kind of counseling anymore. Today was the first Thursday in years I haven't had a session scheduled with them. It's feels so bittersweet to miss them and their advice but to also know that I can care for myself in those ways now thanks to them. "I wish that we could talk about it, but there, that's the problem."

I love this Gorran, your cover is so lilting and full of open space for thought. This song it is a classic told in the most simple way. The loss of someone we love sung out through the beauty of folk. How the grief is simple, yet unfamiliar and unexpected even when we know or suspect it’s coming. Plus, the way we can’t say all the things we want to before it’s too late because we operate in a familiar pattern of communication and to break that by discussing the inevitable seems too difficult a conversation to begin. So when the final parting comes everything around us seems to go on as normal in an everyday fashion, even the weather and the smooth taste of coffee. Yet, we know inside everything has changed in that moment and a new normal will take time to arrive. Yet, in the interim as we discuss the person we’ve lost with others we can never quite capture their true essence. We either make their existence larger in death than it was in life, or their lives and stature seem diminished by the telling of our relationship with them through fragmented snipers and half told stories.

@@GorranKendall You were right, it is great! The original always caught me off guard because it's so catchy and has such a pretty sound, but is so melancholy when you really listen to it. The stripped-back purity of yours emphasises that in the nicest way, and makes them feel completely different.
Love the video too, it has such a timelessly folky vibe that it feels nostalgic even though we're seeing it for the first time. Really glad you're releasing the stuff that hasn't had a chance to shine.
