    Rublev's improved a lot and deserves his spot in the top 10 but his game is still too one-dimensional to beat top 6-7 players in slams. This year he lost in straight sets to Zverev at the AO, straight sets to Medvedev at the USO, now straight sets to Tsitsipas at the FO. As for Tsitsipas, he's starting to look like a serious contender.

    Tsitsipas definitely has the game to trouble Djoko, it'll be a question of temperament and nerves. I am surprised to see him do well in these conditions as his game to me is close to Fed's. But this is his golden chance as he seems to have a mix of some big wins like the ATP finals & big losses like the USO & RG last year to Stan.

    • @thorium222
      @thorium222 4 года назад +1

      @@eirinimarialeleki229 Since posting the question I have watched inofficial highlights of this match and also rewatched the highlights from the Hamburg final. Most striking difference was the much better shot placement from Tsitsipas, his backhand landed much more deep in the backhand corner of Rublev, his forehand as well that also produced well placed short cross court angles. In the Hamburg final Tsitsipas shots were much often much shorter and to the middle of the court, allowing Rublew to put pressure on Tsitsipas all the time who despite this had also the chance to win the Hamburg final. Today Stefanos simply played much better in terms of shot placement than in the Hamburg final and didn't allow Rublev to shine. Rublev was clearly frustrated by this.
