Yes, Pamelyn! We can't know goodness if we don't know something about evil! I (Chara) went to a workshop many years ago called "Failure is Fabulous." Being a perfectionist, it was an important concept to contemplate! Growth can't happen without apparent failures. It's humbling, and it's part of the cycle of life.
@@offTheLeftEye , @ Chara: I was raised that failure was not an option. So I became a perfectionist, not even in church I was raised in was failure an option. Having to present ourselves in a certain way in the eyes of others... Proper, obedient and subservient. Or judgement would rain down. We were all taught wrong about failure or mistakes. That it's not a bad thing or that we all should be walking around with a scarlet letter because of it. If we were only taught that it was a part of life. I resonate very much with your description of values around "failure" growing up, Pamelyn. I think I am kind of wired to be a perfectionist, no matter what, but a loving adult in my life did used to say, "If you're going to do something, do it right." This attitude served that person well in all they did -- a careful, well-studied, skilled, persistent, focused, and precise approach. But I, like you, could have used a bit more conversation about how we learn from our mistakes, and that TRYING will teach you something, even if things don't come out perfectly. I clearly remember the power of joining a spiritual growth group in my 30s, where we were supported and loved in our human states of less-than-perfection. What a relief to no longer have to put on a perfect show! As for facing east, Swedenborg says that the Lord is always in front of the angels, no matter which way they're facing -- it's an orientation of the HEART, and it sounds like you're already there, Pamelyn! Hello Curtis, great video. The process you'er describing of slowly changing the mind is what modern science calls: neural plasticity. And, Swedenborg was talking about all this 300 years ago? Amazing!! But, my problem is this, I have met many, many people down the years, that don't seem interested in letting go of evil. No matter how hard you try to show them kindness, they just keep being mean spirited. How do you deal with people like this? Thanks friends.
Ugh, Randy, yes! Such a frustrating thing. It's some of the hardest work we do in life, to find ways to be loving and be unaffected by the negative behaviors of people around us. And, it helps me sometimes to see these people as small children, perhaps lost and scared, who maybe just needed more love... So, those are some thoughts! I hope it helps! Wishing you well!
I will add to the other replies; I learned this from another man; when people do things that are evil they are tempting a person to be resentful. They are planting a seed of evil or resentment. Hi Mr. Hazama -- Just yesterday I was talking to a 12-step expert yesterday who was describing "powerlessness." What you're saying here sounds like that kind of situation. It could start with a hereditary tendency toward that kind of evil, or it could be the spiritual company we're keeping -- which we could attempt to dismiss and kick out of our mind. And it could be an addiction on the physical level -- chemicals released in the body that we have no control over. And so the 12-steppers submit themselves to their Higher Power, who DOES have the power to relieve them of behaviors they don't want to be doing. I think every situation in every individual is so complex that it's hard to generalize, but there are a few thoughts!
My husband has Emphysema and we do not know how long he has left …….. we are sitting on our deck listening to Smoky Robinson and we both said I wonder if our loved ones can hear this song cause you know I’m sure they like Smokey over there 😂and also if we have cool music on the other side to listen too ?
Ah, Vickie, that is very hard. Losing someone you have shared your life with is so painful. Bless you both as you savor the moment on the deck, enjoying the view and the music. Is it possible, that there are evil spirits that influence you to do things that would go completely against your character, even if you are completely aware of what's going on? Especially on a mental level?
I don't want it to make it sound like an excuse, but just want to know
I don't want instant change, I want a progress tracker and I also need to know where I'm going with this.
Where would you LIKE to go, yahia?
My husband has Emphysema and we do not know how long he has left …….. we are sitting on our deck listening to Smoky Robinson and we both said I wonder if our loved ones can hear this song cause you know I’m sure they like Smokey over there 😂and also if we have cool music on the other side to listen too ?
Ah, Vickie, that is very hard. Losing someone you have shared your life with is so painful. Bless you both as you savor the moment on the deck, enjoying the view and the music. I promise that there are incredible views and fantastic music in heaven. Swedenborg assures us of that as do people who have had near death experiences. Plus your husband will have vibrant health and energy.
@@offTheLeftEye Thank you ! And yes for him a great reunion with his first wife and parents and the health he will once again enjoy ! For us left behind it’s harder 🤷♀️ but it’s the circle of life ! ❤️
Do you know what my teacher would say about this in high school “no brainer”
Meaning... it makes obvious sense, Mark?
@@offTheLeftEye yes
