Really like those clicks and pops. Sure, you can make similar sounds with filters, but four of them in 6hp with no patching (and that lovely bass drum sound as a bonus) seems positively luxurious. Sometimes you just need something in the background to mark time in some way.
Hot damn, how did I miss this module?? Feels like it could be magic for some of that "clicky" percussion that I'm so fond of! Definitely looking to pick one up soon!
Holy shit! I am so getting this! Been debating adding a module for toms to my drum rack. This is 1/4 the price and 1/3 space. I'm partial to the 909 toms but I don't hate the 808 flavor. Seems like it will work though without accent. I can deal with that or use multiple VCAs externally. Plus this gives me more sound options and that crazy, dirty filter effect. $OLD!
Hey Ben, I assembled mine yesterday and noticed a lower tuning on channels 3 and 4. Since you didn't mention it, is it a different behaviour on my module or a regular one ?
@@DivKid Nah mate, you're doing fine. Just adding it for anybody who'd be confused. But now I've got your ear: are you still using this module? I'm considering getting one, and I'd like to hear your thoughts after these years.
No worries just joking around, and yeah I agree the corrections are good. It's not trigger outs so good to point it out. I haven't used it in a good while but then had it in a case that I'd used for some performance bits a while back and I enjoyed it. Simple sounds, welcome addition to other percussion. I'd probably sample it and put them in something like the SoundForce Samples 2 though to be honest. But I've been condensing a lot down to that when percussion isn't the focus and I just need some quick sounds.
Would be cool if you could demo the actual sound for more than half a second without commenting about what is happening... or at least had the drums louder.
I guess because CV would make it bigger and a LOT more expensive. There are CV-controlled resonant BP filter modules available, but putting 4 simple manually controlled T-network filters in a small module gives you a lot of flexibility for not much investment.
@@wellurban good point, but kind of an example of company doing the bare minimum instead of making a timeless contribution for these times and wants. Seems like a missed opportunity to me; shortsighted design and misunderstanding of where the market is going. We want small and cheap without sacrificing control / interoperability. This is a one way module, pure and simple. Anti-modular if you ask me. But I still want it 🤣
if you're talking XOX variety electronic sounds are they even "REAL"? When "REAL" physical mechanical drum sets exist. I generally agree with your comment, just having some fun in response above. Most genres/styles often require some more typical sounds to resonate with the user/audience. However it's worth keeping an open mind to what percussion is and what purpose it serves as there's lots of interesting stuff out there beyond the "real" stuff. For me personally integrated the two is where it gets interesting.
Recently bought one. It’s number 97. This is a secret weapon. It’s 70% of a full on bad ass analog drum machine.

Always love the intro clips with just the music, and wildly gesturing hand without voice!
haha yeah me too. Cutting sort of "best bits" that I spoke over with the voice track. Random waving around is usually funny.

Thanks' for the explanation on the low-MOD-high, it was driving me mad when I got mine.
hey @DivKid ! do you know when you'll be able to review the ADDAC 104 VC T-NETWORKS? I'm wondering what those CV inputs will let us do! cheers
Don't they just allow for voltage control over the frequency of each voice?
Great demo and sounds .
Great timing on this demo. Was hoping to find a compact drum module with multiple outputs/voices to use with a MI Peaks and Malekko Varigate 4.
Great sounds!
👍🏻 Although it would have been more powerful if you could control pitch with cv
The new ADDAC104 VC T-Networks addresses that.
Ace review, Ben. Would pair up nicely with my Noise Engineering BIA and Cursus modules.
Yeah adds some nice simple percussion to add to a system.
how is this module so cheap??

You caught the "low medium and high" mistake, but right before that, at 1:11, you also say "four trigger outs".
so what do you give it? B- try harder next time? :D

Description says analogue, but addac 100 series is "digital sound sources" on their website?
i dont think they're sticking to those categories in any way besides a vague aesthetic these days
@@nutritionalyeast7978 certainly seems that way!
Without CV control then it's not as gratifying. Yes it would be more expensive but it would be worth it.
I’m so happy that I’ll never need this in my life

Y - O - Y! no cv inputs...

I also forgot "don't drunk and comment" so maybe best to ignore me
that housy bass was neat
the ADDAC 104 is exactly this with added CV input for pitch
But, well... you still need REAL percussion sounds (Kick, Snare Open and closed HiHats, ...)
