I'm a big Patriots fan...and sports teams are great ways to ferret out what works and doesn't. Then Sean gives a book idea: Dynasty, about the evolutions of the Patriots. As a portfolio manager myself, I will definitely read that book - so thank you Sean! Paul suggests Creativity Inc, which was a great book. My own suggestion to Sean and his audience for becoming a better investor would be to study and read books about rock bands. The Beatles by Bob Spitz was excellent. John Illsley's story of Dire Straits was also very good. America, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin... so many great bands to learn lessons from, about team dynamics, business challenges, perseverance, and of how to and how not to do it if you want to "get there." Towards the end Sean asks Paul: If you could talk to someone dead or alive, who would it be? Paul answers, God. Then he adds Lincoln and General Patton. Finally Paul goes on to talk about how amazing John Maynard Keynes was. I could not agree more. Robert Skidelsky's works on Keyne's are precious!! Keyne's original books also are, but they are harder to read unless you read Skidelsky first. The Return of the Master (2010) was my favorite! this was an amazing podcast with an amazing leader! Paul Black is a great investors and I have seen him do other interviews, but Sean asked the best questions and got the best out of Paul.
