@@LastLineOfDefense they’re pretty decent rigs, some electrical issues, if parked outside they need to have service history of sunroof drains being cleaned/serviced regularly as they will cause havoc clogged. I’ve been keeping my eye out for the elusive 6spd GTS or a nice diesel as the diesels are absolutely great rigs when rid of certain items.
Yeah the diesels are probably what interest me the most, granted I don’t know a ton about em. Seems like they have a lot of gremlins, especially compared to my beloved land cruisers
@@LastLineOfDefense most of the gremlins have been figured out through recalls and whatnot by now besides random pcm (radio) failures but most being electrical due to water intrusion from the drains. have a customer whom *lives in mexico* with a deleted rig, got 52mpg with a 400 mile trip to Reno. But yes comparative to LC’s it’s a bit much. Excited to see if or if not our new Ineos Grenadiers turn into an issue down the line.
Love all of your content, but especially your weekenderlander stuff! You’re truly an inspiration for me to get out there and do some camping and just be outside. Thank you!
As you said, half of everyone here probably found your channel because of the original Tacoma build. With the hype surrounding the new one, you’ll get another surge of growth purchasing and building a new one. I’m sure it’ll more than pay for itself. Plus it’s all another write-off. I don’t know, seems like a beneficial and fun thing to do all around. I’d watch it.
Bought a 2016 Tacoma this spring 38,000 miles Quicksand, access cab. Thanks for the inspiration Mike. Have watched your Tacoma videos and have bought several exterior and interior mods that you have recommended. Thanks for the content.
Great video Mike, it’s great to see you’re still making weekenderlanders! I’ve probably spent a few days of my life watching weekenderlander vids at this point haha
great video as always! There were some sweet deals on portable batteries this winter but things got a little tight from other holiday priority items 🤣. I can’t wait to get ahold of on, to run my electric blanket. It’s harder and harder to find a spot with no people, so pushing the season later will make that even better!
PSA: Some of the best winter gloves in my opinion are the emperor penguin gloves made by majestic. Look similar to those gorilla grip but they're full dip knit gloves. Pretty much all I wear at work in the winter.
I blame you for my addiction to overlanding and edc and also ruining every flannel for me except yours, I had to buy all 3 colors cause no other flannel compares lol thanks for the video! I can’t wait to get up there in a few months
I bought my 2021 Tacoma because of your videos in September 2020. Then, wife and I were expecting our first kid, so in 2022 I bought a Tundra because you had bought one😂 love my Tundra and I don’t see myself getting rid of it for a lonnng time.
I'm really surprised that none of you guys brought a propane pizza oven or a decent grille to make some steaks or baked potatoes. Do have to come with you guys to show you how it's done? What the heck, no fleece gloves? Not prepared for winter, eh? I'm in Idaho, so I know about this winter stuff.
I don’t even like to cook in my climate controlled fully stocked kitchen in my home - why would I want to do it on a tailgate in 10 degree weather!!! (Just kidding, it’s honestly a little more fun outside in bad conditions). I know it sounds sponsored (and they are a sponsor), but Peak Refuel meals are just so good, especially when it’s cold. I did have winter gloves also, never much cared for fleece or wool gloves though.
Your Yaesu can be modified to transmit on the GMRS frequencies. I have the same radio and use it for Ham as well as GMRS. There are videos on RUclips on how to do the mod.
Yeah I may or may not have done the MARS mod for purely educational purposes, but may or may not ever be able to talk about it on the internets for reasons.
@@LastLineOfDefense yeah, I don't think I'd go making a video talking about it, lol. But, I've done the mod to all my radios over the years, for educational purposes of course.
It's 70 degrees with a low tonight of 50 here in Florida. You can have that bone freezing weather. I'll be out in Colorado in July when it's tolerable there.
I have watched many videos on overlanding and I believe this is the first time someone actually mentioned firewood. You carry and axe, but since many places don't want people carrying firewood from other places how does an overlander process firewood? Do most bring just and axe or do many bring a chainsaw?
noticed the yellow top battery that needed jump starting. get rid of those batteries they are horrible. Go with full throttle batteries you wont be disappointed.
As you walk through your "barn," I can see you're not very materialistic, as you say when looking at all the vintage Toyota vehicles and such. You might want to retract that statement, or are you just a collector like the rest of us with certain things?
I have things, but I have no great attachment to them. I don’t lust after them, and they have no control over me - they are simply tools for a task. The Land Cruisers are a little more like art to me, so in that sense I’m just a connoisseur of fine art on 4 wheels.
As a Porsche Employee, god I love seeing the new aftermarket for lifting the Cayenne's, such a huge explosion of them and it's rather joyous.
Yeah I've been kinda intrigued by them for a few years now - can still grab em for a steal.

No, YOU're awesome!
So I’m looking to get the pelican tx80, but I can’t find the pocket system you have for the lid.
I’ve got a Howl coming in about two weeks
Are you going to the Shotshow next week?
Love following along on your trips, man. What’s the height of the Front Runner mount legs? 6”?

Full Throttle for the win!!
I relate to forgetting the ladder Jake 😂
Can we get a name of the box on the back of that tundra?
Dirtbox Overland
How much would you sell the taco for?
What kind of heater does Jake have?
I’m not sure, one of the cheap china ones though
How about TOY ZONE for your shops name
know anybody with old land rovers/defenders out there??
Is the beard making a comeback?!
Ha nah, I let it go for a few weeks every now and then, out of mostly laziness, but also to see if maybe I’ve hit puberty and I can grow more hair.
What?? no "Hope you've been well"????? lol
Wooohooooo when does your howl arrive? 😂
I actually used it this trip - this one is mine!
@@LastLineOfDefense awesome! They are doing some great work over there! I have one on my wishlist. 😂

Keep the 3rd gen even if you get a 4th
Sure thing, send over $50k and I'll gladly keep both!
I wouldn't touch a 4th gen Tacoma for a year or two. They WILL have problems and gremlins to work out just like the new Tundra's have.
Always enjoy the boys trips. I gotta house full of girls so it's always good to watch some testosterone making. Stay warm.
Talon should’ve let Jake sleep with him
Or sleep in the hilt
"I'm not materialistic" says the guy with 8 4x4s in his garage.
Yeah, I said it wouldn’t make sense to you, haha

I think I’d stop watching if the Tacoma sells.
