They could buff this thing by adding a caliber conversion upgrade to 7.62 and hide the blueprint for it in prypjat. Should have atleast 3 bars of armor pen. They also really should allow more scopes on that thing.

@@sentient.t-5522the weapons follow a traditional rps weapon power scaling system. Dnipro and ak may as well be the same weapon, but dnipro would be a purple epic while ak would be a common grey item. None of the caliber/barrel length damage values make sense. 9x39 out of revolver does 3x damage vss does, and dnipro has 3x pen than ak on 5.45. Damage should be standardized between barrel length and caliber. This will make more guns have more defined roles and a better balance of choosing between cheap weapons to run and expensive weapons. Not really any reason ak cant kill end game enemies. For all the realism this game is praised for the gun damage balance is comical. A gun is a gun. If its shooting the same cartridge its doing around the same damage, variances of barrel length

Damage and penetration should be balanced around the caliber.
There's no world where a 9x18 smg has more damage and penetration than a 5.45 or 5.56 in any weapon platform really.

Whole hearted agree. Weapon handling could easily compensate for progression or ammo availability, blueprint upgrades, attachments, or even gun availability. There are so many better (i.e. immersion improving) ways to balance guns and approach progression than having jank guns.

Another decent, versatile weapon that's severely limited by its miserably bad penetration value. This is especially ironic considering that the bog standard 7N1 ammo that came with the AK-74 actually had decent penetration for the time. In game I looking for something better as soon as I leave the lesser zone.

All they have to do is lock late game quality upgrades behind later zone mechanics and bam. AK and M4 become late game viable without them becoming OP early game. Which is something's the game already does with certain weapons and armor. There are weapons and armor you can pick up quite a while before you can actually upgrade them. Like the SPAS

How effective are 40-mils on chimeras and pseudogiants? In SoC, you could get through the whole game without ever using explosives. Otherwise, 40-mils were best reserved for endgame use against exo-clad Monolith heavy troopers. In CoP and Clear Sky, 40-mils were useful the whole way through, and were the absolute cure for "big game." Same for Anomaly (with or w/o GAMMA-go-nuts). Too many zoners forego grenade launchers entirely, a bizarre fact also pointed out by NullMoxy (who, like me, appreciates grenade launchers and has a Duty-like perspective). Maybe they assume they can rely on hand grenades for harrowing situations, maybe because CoD ruined the reputation of grenade launchers (even to the point that they're nicknamed "noob tubes" IRL). So they try using hand grenades on chimeras and pseudogiants and wonder why they don't work reliably. 40-mils are reliable, and reliability is the Duty way. Confronting mutants head-on is also the Duty way...no matter how many heads they have.
3:29 5.45, 5.56, 7.62x39, 9x39. Just about any intermediate caliber you can imagine. And just the ones that have "AK" in their name. The 9x39 one is called "AK-9." Not every former Eastern Bloc country adopted 5.45, so it's more prevalent in some countries than others. Countries that switched to 5.45 in the 1970s kept 7.62x39 rifles and ammo in reserve. A lot of countries that switched to 5.56 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 also kept stockpiles of 7.62x39.
Note: Anomaly (with or w/o GAMMA-go-nuts) has AKs in all the prevalent calibers (5.45, 5.56, and 7.62x39). The overall best, in terms of both fully-upgraded stats and durability, is the AK-103 with a camo finish. Combined with a GP-25 and a good supply of ammo and 40-mils, it'll trample upon anything the Zone throws at you while being cheap to fix and easy to maintain in the field.
3:49 I hope modders restore the ability to aim the GP-25 using its quadrant sight. You can aim it in SoC but not in CoP or Clear Sky. Not sure why they went with the less competent example for HoC. Anomaly is a CoP mod, but modders restored the ability to aim grenade launchers, even going the next step by giving the M-203 a functional flip-up leaf sight (but only when it's mounted on certain rifles, whereas on others, you tilt the muzzle up and aim using the host rifle's front sight which works fine for gameplay purposes). In Anomaly, you aim the GP-25 similar to how to you aim it in older versions of Lost Alpha with the quadrant sight set on a low angle. In SoC, it's set on a high angle. It has the same effect since the game calculates the range automatically when you aim. Only detail-obsessed manic fanatics like muhself would actually want fully dynamic indirect-fire (complete with sights calibrated for accurate indirect-fire, including firing at mortar-like arcs, raining down mayhem on the enemy even if they're ensconced behind cover) in a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mod of demented do0m a go go.
4:17 It's no wonder seeing as how Skif grasps the GP-25's dinky nub grip like it's a foregrip with his support hand. That dinky nub grip is only there for firing the launcher. It's not meant to be used as a foregrip when firing the host rifle. Again, SoC did it right. CoP and Clear Sky did it wrong. Anomaly also did it wrong (but I think Grok corrected it in GAMMA-go-nuts). Again, why did HoC follow the wrong example?! If you do image searches on this sort of thing, you'll see what kind of people do it right, IRL, and what kind of people do it wrong. Spetsnaz do it right. Hapless Third World conscripts do it wrong. Whose techniques would a savvy zoner rather emulate? Which methodology do you think a real Dutyer would emulate?
4:40 That exact same gun in that exact configuration will last you from Cordon to Pripyat in Oblivion Lost 2.2 or Oblivion Lost 2010. NPCs don't use 5.45 from "Stancia" onward, otherwise it could last the whole game. Oblivion Lost 2010 was spliced with Arsenal Overhaul by default, so you had plenty of other options to choose from. If you want something to mount a GP-25 on (40-mils being absolutely necessary for the endgame in any version of Oblivion Lost), in OL2010, you could go with an AK-108 in 5.56 or a Vz.58 in 7.62x39. I went with the Vz.58, and it was beyond satisfactory, tearing through exo-clad Monolith troopers while 40-mils allowed me to contend with Koshei the "immortal" controller (who really just has ultra-high health). IRL, the Vz.58 is also available in 5.56, and it doesn't accept a GP-25, but it has its own type of modular grenade launcher.
5:17 Being muzzle-loaded and using caseless grenades means its faster to load and fire a quick volley of two or more 40-mils compared to NATO-style breach-loading launchers that use cartridge grenades. On the other hand, the breach-loading type are able to be more versatile, using a broader range of ammo and munition types. Some mods add more types of 40-mils, including thermobaric ones. SoC (and its mods) have two types of VOG-25s. I think the only difference is the "better" type has bigger blast radius. So basically what the F1 hand grenade is to the RGD-5.

I started using this again for variety, immersion, and having a big stockpile of 5.45 ammo, I forgot how much this thing struggles even in mid game unless you're nailing headshots.
To be a viable weapon upto end game atleast, they need to allow a red dot, and just give it a caliber change upgrade or blueprint to make it 7.62x39 and up damage and penetration with the downgrade to accuracy.

I get what they're going for with game progression with weapons, but 5.45x39 should have the most pentation vs any of the other ammo in the game other than the ammo the sniper rifles use. It should also have the highest wounding power, 7n6 is known as the "poison pill" for a reason.

    • @kmoov90

    • @bradenhagen7977
      @bradenhagen7977 14 дней назад

@libalj 5.56 and 5.45 should be on the same level for penetration. Th wounding factor of 5.45 comes from its tendency to tumble (which reduced over pen too), which I'm sure you're already know. I just figured I'd add to your point.

AK-47s shoot 7.62. The AK-74 was developed as a response to NATO adopting the 5.56 round, utilizing 5.45 to achieve the same goal of wounding to take more combatants off the battlefield that just outright killing.
