@BitterOrange i suppose you could argue it's "generic" for remixing the main theme of the game into a version more fitting for a final showdown/victory lap, but that's only "generic" because it's a very common and nice form of story telling. the main theme of a game is meant to indirectly be the player character/group's theme, so it's often used as a final boss/victory lap theme when remixed to motivate the player and show that it's not the final boss who's in control of the situation, it's the player who is. there's probably a better way to explain all this, but i hope i made sense.
yeah... for a boring song that I would play to put a kid to sleep for the first 2 minutes 52 seconds... it's too long, the actual good part takes almost 3 minutes to happen, and is too short. and compare it to... every other final boss theme all the way back to and including path of radiance... it is evolving... just backwards... and skipping a dozen stages
@White Wolf this take is mid as fuck. Dont get me wrong, I'm not gonna act like the final boss theme of the base game was some kind of masterpiece but calling Fell Nil's Theme better is such a stretch. I still enjoy them but they both pale in comparison to basically every other final boss theme in the past decade. Hell, I'd argue this one is just as generic cause it kinda just sounds like a boss theme BEFORE the final boss.

This chapter and theme feels like the "Real Final Boss". Everything about Ch. 26 felt very anti-climactic in that with once all four dark emblems were down, killing Sombron himself was a snooze. And the theme itself. But this legit felt very difficult and well-designed. And what initially sounded like a busted mechanic (the insta-kill) actually ended up feeling very fair, even if very challenging. Great final DLC. Can't wait to clear it on Maddening at some point!

@BitterOrange i suppose you could argue it's "generic" for remixing the main theme of the game into a version more fitting for a final showdown/victory lap, but that's only "generic" because it's a very common and nice form of story telling. the main theme of a game is meant to indirectly be the player character/group's theme, so it's often used as a final boss/victory lap theme when remixed to motivate the player and show that it's not the final boss who's in control of the situation, it's the player who is.
there's probably a better way to explain all this, but i hope i made sense.
ngl the original outright sucked. this one sounds like a boss theme instead of a boring and annoyiny minigame theme for over a minute and a half
yeah... for a boring song that I would play to put a kid to sleep for the first 2 minutes 52 seconds... it's too long, the actual good part takes almost 3 minutes to happen, and is too short. and compare it to... every other final boss theme all the way back to and including path of radiance...
it is evolving... just backwards... and skipping a dozen stages
@@meinman7591 🥱 sure grandpa lets get you to bed
@White Wolf this take is mid as fuck.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not gonna act like the final boss theme of the base game was some kind of masterpiece but calling Fell Nil's Theme better is such a stretch.
I still enjoy them but they both pale in comparison to basically every other final boss theme in the past decade.
Hell, I'd argue this one is just as generic cause it kinda just sounds like a boss theme BEFORE the final boss.
I can't make out the words at 3:15. 🎶 Can someone help me please?
It's in Japanese, maybe someone will translate it sometime.
That intro is far better and more inspired than the rest of the song
2:06 to 2:30 gives me some leitmotif or resemblence flashback but i just cant remember to which theme, I think it was maybe from fates? What is it from, or is it just from another engage ost
It reminds me of Bad Apple (Touhou)

I get some Awakening or Fates Vibes, butI cant seem to remember of what it reminds me, maybe Alight

Amazing work!
Actually, he summons more if you don't kill him quick enough.
Why this soundtrack way more better than actual final boss battle?
Because they wanted something that fits a penultimate battle to save the few survivors of a world dying a slow and painful death, instead of some dragged out chiptune intro with some of the worst vocals in music.
This theme is so good but then Nil destroyed 2 islands in 2 consecutive turns giving me an instant game over.
Now the Xenolouge has just left me upset
Yeah unfortunately if there’s two things xenologue isnt it’s fun and fair
Always kill Timerra first/second turns bait her with Astra Storm
Hey, we know you've been using Micaiah warping strats, what if we make a gimmick based on you warping people around. Rescue staff, of course, Warp or Rewarp would mean you could cheese it very easily
It's still possible to beat the map in 1 turn, even on Maddening

1:06 - 1:35 🥺🎺🎺
when i first listened this video i was confused why it was almost 8 minutes long
now with fell xenoloque beaten i finally know why
One part of my brain heard Eri0ne$ at 1:06!
Not really that big of a fan of the sidestory, but this theme playing while having to kill your friends AGAIN, is just heartbreaking. Especially Alfred, who is breaking apart at the seams and is just completely unhinged.
Would've been hilarious if Intsys gave us a second Mauvier even if the og mauvier is like right near the end.
Have someone figured what are the lyrics in the end of the theme? It sounds like japanese, but could be just gibberish.
I would like to know as well
Chad Rafal > v1rgin Sonbrom
Why couldn't Mauvier just use the rewarp staff afterwards
It was the one time he forgot to pack it : |
3:53 FE Theme ;-;
This is something that would play in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
I want another DLC with divine dragons as playable characters now (Alear doesnt count)
And have Bow/Dragon Stone and Mage Cannon/Staff/Dragon Stone as their weapon types.
(Alear has Sword and Arts, Veyle has Knife and Tome, Nel has Lance and Dragon Stone, Rafal has Axe and Dragon Stone; all that left are Bow, Staff and Mage Cannon)
the dlc was totally bs if you did hard or maddening mode, but at least the music still slaps
oh yeah definitely, i couldn't find the mental fortitude to complete the final boss on hard after everything that just happened... it took me 4 hours to do xeno chapter 5 😭😭
I personally really enjoyed it on Hard. It took a good while to beat and it wasn't easy at all but it was fun
@@starlightpika i had to switch to normal after chapter 5, i couldnt handle the amount of bs i went through. i like challenges but not ones that take over 3 hours to beat
@@a_peridox yeah I agree, that’s what I thought too but its too bad that normal is stupidly easy. I really wish the difficulty spike wasn’t so drastic
@@Viovel glad you thought it was fun! I thought it was fun… until it wasn’t 🗿weirdly enough it stressed me out to the point where I got susceptible to sickness and now i have a cold HELP ME 😭😭
I like the start a lit but i think it mellows out too fast for all the initial build up
I wish someone can upload a remix of this
Does anyone have recommendations for which final boss to do first? Not sure if I should save this one for after beating the base game, if people think this dlc one is a better finale
If you do the Fell Xenologue first, you can see the character endings for the new characters in the main story ending.
do main story until ch 23 then do fell xenologue
When the boss has an actual nuke for once, this battle took waay to long for me to notice i could start damadging it after i beat up like every bracelet but one. My only gripe whit the dlc is that they made both cannon and the ecnhanter book waaaaaaaaaaaay to expensive like the cannon is a 90 the book for (a mediocre class imo) 40k just too much, finally turned anna from general to cannoneer but if i want to keep boosting her stats to infinity and beyond like that i would need 90k and that is just bs. Anna for once should have less then a 102 hp now lmao
I like this song but in my opinion, it's kind of all over the place and without proper transitions.
Haha, I'm not a music nerd, but I felt it kinda fit since the map itself is kind of all over the place xD
And remember, if you have not beaten this chapter on Maddening without the use of 1-turn shenanigans, you have not yet beaten Fire Emblem Engage.
Fake, Mauvier used his 1 turn on Zelestia and he didn’t bring a dancer or Emblem Byleth
the temple was going to collapse in 3 turns
this theme is... well it's not an insult like sombrons, hell this is actually pretty good and not really boring... still nothing compared to the rest of it's competition... but unlike his father's final boss theme, I like this one
I love when people unjustifiably shit on music despite having zero actual ability to articulate their feelings
@@anenemystand5582 The OG final boss theme is a 2 minute slow intro with terrible vocals and underwhelming guitar that does not fit at all.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 an example!
@@anenemystand5582 Yes?
This map was complete and total bullshit on Maddening
man they really put a song this good on the worst map in modern fire emblem history and the worst story on top of that. this is the first map in Engage where I just said fuck it and lowered the difficulty from Maddening. Pretty sure they did not playtest that shit at all 💀
This is unironically my favourite map though. It is very hard and punishing on Maddening, but figuring it out was very thrilling. It has hordes of reinforcements, but they don't spawn in your face like in Ch.25.
No es tan difícil el mapa si utilizas bien tus estrategias para poder sobrevivir, al menos así lo hice en normal
@@Shu_Utsugi1999this map on Maddening has like 5 times more enemies with better stats, constant reinforcements and an entirely different behavior from the boss. It might feel like a different game with the ridiculous difficulty gap.
@@UltimusTerminuslo dicho si vas tranquilo y sin nervios puedes pasarlo sin problemas, eso hice sin los emblemas más fuertes y útiles del juego como el de Byleth, Micaiah y el del protagonista
