The Mary Carter Store started out selling paint in 1964. as time changed they diversified their offerings. It’s located in Cullman Alabama. The town was hit by bad tornadoes a few years back and Hank helped raise money for the area with a show on CMT with a telethon
I'm pleasantly surprised you did this one as it wasn't a hit song or even released to Radio but one of my favorites by Hank Jr thank you for letting the world hear this song
Thanks Don for this morning selection.. The song was written by Hank Jt and released in '79 on his 'Famiy Traditions' album. It was the first Hank Jr album that I bought. I thought it had shades of "A Country Boy Can Survive" and "Wait In The Truck" by Hardy and Lainey Wilson. I understand the feeling all to well. Thanks for the reaction
My favorite country singer since 1964.I have seen him so many times across the country. I have had my picture taken with him 22 times (back when you could get near him ). I have a beautiful large picture of him in a cowboy suit when he was probably 3 or 4. I found it in. a Nashville shop back in 1974 .The same picture was on the wall in his mothers home. Very large picture that looks like it was maybe hand colored. 90oi
Ain’t a Hank song I don’t like. I’ve got the whole box set of every song he’s ever written or recorded. I also have a signed guitar from him. I agree with this particular song 100% by the way.
It's a shame the justice system would let him go free - there ought to be something about use of technicalities in cases like this. Thanks for the choice and the terrific reaction!
Leon Gary Plauché known for publicly killing Jeffrey Doucet, a child molester who had kidnapped and raped Plauché's son, Jody. Plauché shot and killed Doucet as he was being escorted through an airport by law enforcement to face trial for what he had done to Plauché's son. The killing occurred on March 16, 1984 and was captured on camera by a local news crew. Plauché was given a seven-year suspended sentence with five years' probation and 300 more hours of community service, receiving no prison time.
Don nice reaction as usual to the great Hank Jr.. I have a request (once again...lol)...Could you please try to react to John Prine's "The Sins of Mephisto"... I think it's one of his best and I know you'll enjoy the hell out of it !!!!!!
Too many people kill someone with a motor vehicle and receive a short sentence or probation. Sometimes more than once. To my mind when you get behind the wheel impaired you are guilty of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to commit murder and deserve 10 years without parole. Would it be a deterrent, no, but it would prevent recidivism.
My favorite

That is a strange choice of background music - especially at the beginning - for such gritty subject matter.
No don t like it
