  • This explainer video goes through the various valves and adaptors from Advanced Elements.
Across the range of Advanced Elements kayaks the valve vary, and even between the various chambers of a single model, the valves vary.
The reason the valves vary is mostly due to pressure. Low pressure valves are different to medium pressure valves, which are different again to high pressure valves.
In terms of the adaptors, they obviously have to change to fit the valves, but there are also options that relate to whether or not you need a back pressure reading for your pressure gauge.
NOTE - no, you can NOT use a compressor to inflate your kayak.
It really helps if you understand the different types of valves and their associated adaptors, before you purchase the kayak. It will ultimately help you to understand whether your existing pump will work, and what type of pump you might need to purchase. But if you want more details, these videos will be helpful:

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for this informative video! I have watched 12 videos looking for information on the spring valve adapter. I did not realize that it was behind the seat, took a trip and was unable to use my inflatable kayak because I did not have the adapter to blow it up. I am so thankful that you mentioned that this was behind the seat in the repair kit. You are the only video that mentions this. Now I can take my kayak out this weekend, and not have to wait for the adapter. Ethan REI is not aware this was a special adapter oh, they sell this kayak oh, and did not inform me that the kayak came with this piece behind the seat. Thank you for excellent video

Help! I recently bought an Advanced Elements Advanced Frame tandem kayak for a great deal from the local thrift store. Come to find out that the tube in it uses an older style "Bravo" valve- what kind of hose adapter do I need for this valve (or are they even still available?)
    Thank you!!

I have a SUP so I have an outdooor master pump. Can I use this for the AE kayak? It doesn’t seem like I have the correct connectors.

Do you mean the outdoor masters electric pump? It's very likely that you will be able to make it work, you would just be using the push on adapter that comes with the pump for the spring valves. Maybe check the returns policy so you can test it? Cheers, Emily.

I am having trouble with the high pressure adapter. I find when I twist it to take it out, the adapter has twisted AND TURNED the inner stem valve to the deflate position. How can I prevent this? My solution for now is to have another person just hold the valve in place (without twisting) while I pump.

Hi there! So sorry to see that you are having issues with your HR adaptor. Please have a look at this video which goes into detail on Troubleshooting the HR Valves. ruclips.net/video/eiuLUBs6Ero/видео.html
It has a few good options. But please let us know if any of these options do not work! Thanks, Jessica

Hi, the kayaks actually come with spare adaptors, but if you also lose those ones, yes we have spare adaptors 🙂
