The red escort looking great. Spraying is like plastering - an expert makes it look so easy but it's never the same when I try. :-)

I was about to put exactly the same thing myself. They always look like they're just throwing it on, then you see the results this guy's got on a lot of Rob and Chris' cars and you realise how good he is.

@@steve5772 A lot of it is in prep. Being good at your job means you prepare for it well. Getting an even coat/finish doesn't take much learning, but getting that prep so clean and tidy takes a fair bit of skill.
If you've had workshop/engineering/mechanical jobs where you can transfer such a mindset from, you get a headstart on a newbie to doing these things. I'd never painted a car in my life, but my missus had a dent in her rear wheel arch, some filler and a few sunny days later, the body work looks good again. Paint shop wouldn't probably done a better job, but as a first timer, the colour matches well (if anything filler is more of a pain).
Making sure surface is clean, masking up properly, getting that primer on nicely & then building up a few layers of paint is really all there is too it. Lacquer coats are harder than base/colour coat just from my very brief experience doing bits and pieces.
Please don’t let anyone ruin the Red escort, it is lovely how it is and we need it be kept original
Ideal project for Prince Andrew. Rumour has it he has a history of working on young Escorts.

Rob and Chris are fantastic examples of people who do the work properly. The stand out fixes are done however it’s the small details they deal with that makes the difference between an ok fix and a proper job done . Wish you continued success 👍

Good decision. Personally I'm not a big fan of replicas, so I hope the Escort is retained as a very nice, clean and tidy original car and the RS parts get used for a restoration in progress (that way two cars remain largely original).
Due to an illness, I had to give up my job as a painter 15 years ago. Watching your video made me miss painting sooo much.
Incredible how one minute the scrapyards are full of Mk4 Escorts, 10 years later you can't even find a decent interior for one!

Spotted!!!! About 20 mins ago a red escort on Robs truck with Chris following in his little pickup hiding behind sunglasses 😎 lol driving through Latchingdon in Essex. Shame I had to turn off you were going towards Mayland. Lol can't wait for next exciting episode thanks.
Sprayers bloody amazing especially the way they can blend it in with the Original Colour.. Mind Blowing.. and as for the RS Turbo always a good thing to keep it Stock and that RS Back Box looks fabulous.. good idea make it a RS Turbo Replica thats what i would do

I used to weld these up every week in the 90s doing my apprenticeship.
Sills, chassis rails, battery trays.
We hit them with the stone chip and Schutz! 😆back in the good old days in Essex! 😉 they weren't worth nothing then.

I spray painted my old Jerry cans with a rattle can I was well chuffed with the result he makes it look so easy a master at work. Ps mine was mat green. 😂😂😂 great video lots of projects keeps you busy and always interesting 👍👍👍👍

I remember going round the scap yards in the 90s getting bits for my capris, complete interior's for those escorts were everywhere, shame there so hard to find now,I'm glad you rescued it it's a very good car and will only go up in value,same with the parts genuine parts are hard to find

I managed to watch this one all the way through... Your previous video on this car reminded me too much of my lost red MKIII / MKIV Escorts. - Think I had four in red, and another four or five in other colours. So easy to work on and good fun to drive!

Standard examples of the two door variants are hard to find due to them being turned into replicas back in the 90s. Great price for it too.

6k, why give it away? Someone will buy it, sell the car for that, then make a couple of grand plus selling the rest, I would have thought at least 8 or 9k . Rethink it, you know it makes sense .

Great video guys ,what that escort needs is the Zetec 2lt in it and turbo it ,common swap. On old fords the rs turbo is underpowered really it would make a nice sleeper ,good job guys

My late kid brother ran the biggest Toyota agency in Africa for seven years. The UN was their most important customer, but I'm sure he would have been able to find you a cash customer for your Hi-lux, with the skills to fabricate their own machine cannon mount and platform. Sadly after stints in Sudan, Iraq, Libya, Kenya and Myanmar, he ran out of road a couple of months ago. Having spent a lifetime in the business, I'm sure he would have loved your chanel.

Been watching for a few weeks and new subscriber. If I was gonna buy a car with damage i:e cat c blah blah and asked these guys to repair it I would feel confident it was roadworthy after they dealt with it. Showed all the faults and explained it and fixed. Can't ask more than that can ya. ✌🏽✌🏽
