Have a Magic Chef, a little larger than this one. I got those two parts and this is exactly what it took to fix it. Thank you! About a $12 fix.

Thanks, looks useful. In my case the input side of these little "starter relays" is not receiving the expected 120V. If I connect the power directly to these input tabs the compressor starts. So... could be the thermostat or the logic or other relay upstream. Any suggestions appreciated...

Just bought a house with two older models came with it. They both do not work and even the lights don’t turn on. Did the whole unit, include the light didn’t work before replacing those parts?

What is the mod # you ordered because it seems as though my ptc relay has 2- or do the second set of numbers matter?? ( p6r8mc + or0505)

  • @kevinlinne

Mine was not cooling, not turning on. Noticed mold had started to form inside (I keep outside on patio in FL). I saw another video mentioning cold control. I tried that by using a wire segment to bypass cold control. That wasn't it. I ordered these and this did the trick.

They are not designed to be outside in a humid environment. You will probably have more issues

oops, i accidentally connected both the blue and red wire to the PTC starter.
i waited 2 weeks to get the PTC starter and overload protector (from amazon) hoping that would be a fix for the fridge, but when i inserted them into the fridge and reconnected them, i looked at my photo from when i disconnected the parts, and noticed that the blue cable was attached to the PTC and the red wire was loose, i took the pic after i had already pulled it, and thought that they both went to the PTC starter, only then did i realize there was not a 3rd wire for the overload. is it possible that i ruined the brand new PTC starter by attaching both cables to it?

I have a question, I replaced both the overload and start relays, and my wine chiller s still doing the same thing, the compressor turns on, then clicks off after a moment, I filed down the female connections a bit but that didn’t help, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Well, I guess the cooler I picked up from the side of the road is missing a PTC Starter. This should be easy to get and fix.

Finding the right parts is the hard part as I could not locate the exact parts I took out. I have a Magic Chef E wave wine fridge Mod MCWC30M. This does not seem to exist in most places.
I needed a starter relay P6R8MC OR0209 ... I could find P6R8MC all day long but none that ended in OR0209 ... There was one Internet comment that suggested that only the first 6 characters are right ... the rest might just be a batch # ??? Gonna try it ....
Also was looking for the overload protector 314TFBYY -520 could find no such beast. There are two options that look the same as mine 6750C-0005P and the 6750C-0004R. They look the same as mine and in one spot it was suggested they were interchangeable ??? I'm going to try the ... 04R.... wish me luck.

I replaced the relay and plugged the unit but it still doesn't seem to be getting any power or turning on at all. When I plug the unit it I observed a small single clicking noise from somewhere near the relay or compressor. Any ideas?

Fan often goes bad on these so it can't push cool air around to create 2 zones. My fan is noisy and starts and stops -- others report same issue. Suggested fix is to lubricate fan with machine oil (not wd40) or replace fan. While it's a common issue, it may not be yours.

Possible motor winding is open, motor is grounded, no fix, need new compressor motor almost the cost of a new wine cooler.

Does anyone know if this is a fix for a unit not even switching on?
Even the LCD display isn't switching on
It's a different unit but has exactly the same parts on the compressor

A ckt card on the side attached with a fuse, check it out, that's where the ncoming power goes. Blown fuse on the ckt is caused by shorted components inside the card.

How about diagnosing the problem before buying the parts.

    • @kevincross4302

Legit question, How do you diagnose the problem...Mine quit working out of the blue and don't have a clue as to why or where to even start..

    • @davidwatkins8016
      @davidwatkins8016 2 года назад +1

@@kevincross4302 1. Does the fan run?
      2) Is there a hum?
      3) Is there a fuseable link that has melted?
      4) Is the startup capacitor shot?
      5) What exactly happens when you plug it in?
      6) Was it cooling appropriately before it quit altogether?
Random ass replacements of parts is a bad plan.

    • @deankoch7305

You can use an ohm meter to check out the coil on the current relay. Also if you have a capacitor you can test the cap for proper mfd rating. Which should be on the capacitor. You can take those parts off the compressor and ohm out each of the three terminals on the compressor plus from each terminal to ground.
Between terminals you should get resistance on all of them. If not it is 🔥 burnt. From each terminal to ground it should not have any, it should read infinite. If it reads anything even 0 it is grounded out.
