The easiest way i found to put codes in your game is to download Action Replay version 3.34, make sure cheats is enabled in your settings, open AR in pcsx2, scroll down to your game, enable the cheats you want, when it goes to change disc menu switch to the game, it may take a few secs and your game should boot up with the cheats
Please tell me why the devs of PCSX2 thought that making the code system like this was a good idea? Hell... ePSXe (ps1 emulator) just has you paste the gameshark codes right in.
As good of a guide as this is, it's very unfortunate that the PCSX2 devs made the cheat system the way that it is. Makes modding and doing QOL improvements to old retro PS2 games overly difficult unfortunately. Also another bad thing is that since PCSX2 updates what seems like every 10 minutes adds yet another layer of difficulty to coding and such. Quite a shame really. Kudos on this guide though, it was very well put together.
So, go Settings, Emulation, there is the Enable Cheats. Yeah, I just upgraded to Nightly, new computer, so figured what the heck, but couldn't figure out how to turn on the cheats with the new version. Thank you so very much for this!!!
It was somewhat indirect, though this video did help. The comment about how the console in the emulator has an output about the cheats loading got me to re-enable it myself. Somehow, I didn't realize the name of the .pnach file had to be a specific value, so when the console output could not find it in the cheats folder, even though I added the file there, I realized that I just needed to rename it to what the console text expected. Everything started working after.
i downloaded the gameshark v4 iso, boot it up on the emulator, i selected Monster Rancher 3 on the list, pressed x on the code i wanted, after that i choose start game, the insert disc message appears, the i clicked on the change disc option in the emulator, selected game from the game list, after that i pressed X button on the message and the game booted up with inf money, all that under than 1 minute.
I can't get it to work, I spent all day yesterday, trying to get it to work, but all it says is, "2 unlabelled patch codes will automatically activate." and I watched 3 or 4 of these how to use cheats in PCSX2 Nightly, and yet nothing
I don't know if you've worked it out, but they have to be labeled. Usually in these cheat files, the way they're formatted is " //Infinite ammo " and then the cheat. IT NEEDS TO BE IN BRACKETS. So [Infinite Ammo] instead of //infinite ammo. If you go on the PCSX2 forums, there is a post called Important Patching Notes 1.7.4546+ - Pnach 2.0. That should help you. If it's in the "old format" then it needs to be in brackets. It took me way too long to work this out
Thanks mate, this is the correct format with the current 1.7.X PCSX2, activating cheats via the game properties/cheats tab. I do have a questions in regards where you source your codes?
@@OHSHIETSON Dang, can't remember now. I used PCSX only to finish this particular game. Never even touched it afterward. I do remember it being a cheats collection though.

Yes you can put as many cheats in as you like. Although some games will become unstable or crash when too many cheats are applied. You just have to try it and see.
If you want to label the cheats so they can be enabled/disabled from the emulator's cheat menu do this in the .pnach file: [Cheat Name] description=What The Code Does patch=1,EE,xxxxxxxx,extended,xxxxxxxx

doesnt work , literally gone through every tutorial , follow every step , copied crc codes renamed pnach folders everything . straight up THIS DOES NOT WORK !!!!!!
Codetwink and Gamehacking has many codes for PS2. Or just search on google what games do you want to find and you can extended pnach on this. Someone will post it on forum. Example "wild arms 4 pnach"
sorry just realized, to get the CRC code just right click on the game in PCSX2 , and choose properties. PCSX2 will open a window and the very first tab on the left hand column will be summary. if you look at the entries you will see the CRC code and the serial number.

It's difficult to say why. I decided to make a video about it because I know it can be confusing for some people.
@@Winters989 This is more than confusing. Even when i put the correct code in the correct format. it says the code is loaded, but nothing happens.
@@StrategicLemon It really depends on the codes and which games you're playing. Some games have gameshark codes that do absolutely nothing.
Not to mention the updates. None of your states will be compatible😂😂. Like wtf
