    How can I increase the character limit? I already done the pop up, but my text is too big for the box.

    thank you for the video! It works on Mac as well! However, my "Word seen" is highlighted in grey after I hide the code...Is there any way to remove the highlight or at least change it to another color? Appreciate!

      This is a field. Shading is controlled in your File > Options > Advanced.

      @@martinagiven7024 I can only give directions for Windows. The commands are similar but in different places. I recommend posting a question on the Microsoft Community Answers forum for Word for the Mac. Ask how to turn off field shading. answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word?sort=lastreplydate&dir=desc&tab=threads&status=all&mod=&modAge=&advFil=&postedAfter=&postedBefore=&threadType=all&tm=1473637240674 If you get any responses with a phone number they are phishing and should be ignored. Note that this is a computer setting and does not travel with the document. It can be different on each computer.

    Thank you very much for creating this guide! Gonna be applying it in my plant load lists, explaining where the total numbers come from 😁
    FYI, you can also use formulas in this, it's a really good way to explain results of those formulas. For example, the following will display the number 28, and when I hover over it, I get the explanation that it comes from 18 equipment powered by Supply #1, plus another 10 powered by Supply #2:

    Does anyone know how to 'saveas' or convert a word document with these 'balloon words' to a PDF that will continue to show the balloon words when you mouse over the text? I've attempted saving to a web page and launching Adobe Pro to create a file from a web page, but didn't work. Tried the obvious save as PDF and Convert to PDF as well. Thanks.

      It seems to continue to work if I Export the PDF. If I print to a PDF it does not work

    Great stuff, but you should specify which versions of Word support this feature, and whether or not the procedure is identical for all supported versions.

      All desktop versions support this. The Mac versions use slightly different keyboard shortcuts. Command instead of Control.

    This does not work in my Word for Mac, do you have step by step instructions for a MAC with Word?
    I can get everything typed inside the brackets I just can't Hide the brackets to that I only see the Word I'm wanting to set up the popup to.

      the curly bracket you have to generate is pressing ctrl + F9, then it will work for you!

    FOR MAC: fn + command + F9 ... and then fn + F9 to close

      That is not for the Mac but rather for a Mac where the function keys have been hijacked in the BIOS. The fn or Fn key tells the keyboard to use the function keys in their native format.

      Windows 10 has nothing to do with it. You may need to use the Fn key with your function keys.
