With Israel still at war 😔, and the intense rise of antisemitism, I needed some delicious comforting foods to look forward to this Shabbat. I started with a warm hot chocolate to get me going in my prep. The hot matzo ball soup was the perfect start to the Shabbat prep. There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup to comfort the soul. Of Course I finished my prep with some yummy and cozy dessert recipes like warm gooey apple pie and oatmeal Craisins cookies. It’s not Shabbat without some hot crusty sourdough bread so I shared my technique for that as well. I hope this video and recipes bring some comfort to you and your family.

2 cups of milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
3-4 tbsp sugar
4 tbspn cocoa powder
Whipped cream
Shaved chocolate
Oatmeal Craisins Cookies: bakeitwithlove.com/oatmeal-cr...
🍏🥧Apple pie dough:
2.5 cups APF
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 Cup Almond milk
1/2 Cup oil
Apple filling:
Melt 8 tbsp butter I used dairy free earths balance. Whisk in 3 Tbsp flour then simmer for 1 minute, whisking constantly. Whisk in 1/4 cup water, 1 cup sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and continue simmering 3 minutes, whisking frequently then remove from heat.
Peel, core, and slice 7 cups of Granny Smith apples. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of cinnamon and mix. Add the butter mixture to the apples Ave combine thoroughly.
Bake pie at 425F for 15 minutes, then lower the flame to 350F for 45 minutes.

Our church has already set up many of us members who are willing to hide the Jews and open our homes to them if antisemitism continues to rise. I'm absolutely horrified about some of the scenes I'm seeing around the world. History is literally repeating itself. If anyone wonders how the Holocaust happened. This is exactly how it happened.

Thankfully my family in Israel are safe at the moment. It's hard to be thousands of miles away from them. I can't talk to my cousins who are in the IDF due to security issues. I wish that I could talk to them just so I know that they are safe. Please keep my family your thoughts and prayers for their safety and that they will come home safe and sound to my family.

It's been so hard to be a Jew.I have family Israel.Thankfully everyone is ok for right now. I have been attacked online just because I am a Jew.I take time out on Fridays to watch the online streaming Shabbat service from my shul since I don't live close to it. Watching the service helps me to feel at peace during such a difficult time.

Staying busy doing the things which nurture you and your family is such good advice. I live in Japan and I remember having the same strategy after our terrible earthquake/tsunami/radiation disaster. I feel the same way when I read all the news from around the world and the strife between countries. I turn my focus inward to the things I can control around my life. Cooking, cleaning, spending loving time with my husband, daughters, their husbands and grandchildren. And most of all I pray very hard. We have a hymn in my faith that says"What a privilege to carry, everything to God in Prayer."

Okay we all need extra smiles these days - just smiled seeing you holding the pie crust in place against the counter with your cute very pregnant belly (while you were rolling pie crust out) - new baby coming already helping in the kitchen! Plus: I squeeze lemon juice on apples while cutting up to prevent browning, and just adds a little extra sparkle to flavor of pie.
Everything looks yummy. Please pray for us,here in Yisroel. I have four grandchildren in the army down south. Not in Gaza. And a very close friend with a son who has been captured. MY friends other son was injured and after surgery is doing very well and got married last week which I watched in zoo. As they had to make a much smaller wedding.

Im a human and I’m sad that we are capable of raising our hand against each other so easily without having consideration for the life losses is not only the people raising their hands but children, women and the elderly we really need to go on a journey of healing and understanding, the only thing this acts cause is suffering on both sides and the world that is watching. I've made a lot of Matzoh ball soup over time. And when I found your channel, I tried your recipe. Absolute winner. I meal prepped for a Jewish family and the mom said it was the best Matzoh ball soup, even better than her grandmother. I did your version with the consomme powder from a few years back.
