What changed my life as a controller player was getting a controller with buttons on the back. I use the elite controller and use the back paddles to jump and crouch. My fingers rarely leave the joystick.
The paddle make the difference to me. I use the thrustmaster e-swap so you can rotate the sticks which helps minimize stick drift and also you can move the dpad and have the stick next to each other. I want to try the elite one next time I buy a controller.
My son and I both have custom ps5 controllers from Budds Controllers in Australia, with 2 back buttons bound to jump and reload and mouse click triggers and bumpers. My aim improved so much from not having the long pull on the triggers, and tap firing pistols and ARs is so much better. My sons has hall effect sticks so I’m curious to see how much longer they’ll last than regular sticks.
I play right hand claw on an Xbox controller with paddles. For majority games I prefer playing controller now as this allows me to compete with KBM players.

Yea I played K&M for my first years of gaming because on PC a lot of them didn't allow controllers. Now that I'm older I use a controller and I'm much more consistent. Once you learn good cross hair placement and positioning in fights it's easier on controller than you might think. But to get to Jake's level is another conversation entirely
Switch with some random Amazon controller that looks like an XBOX. I played with the settings to improve it some, but ultimately I would lose I just got into fights. I win by strategy, stealth, and exploiting new weapons (grapple hook, sword) oiting any advantage

My close quarters engagements feel a lot more responsive but i cannot for the life of me aim beyond fifty meters. Whereas on expo i could hit all the long shots but felt really clumsy up close. I noticed this as well but actually it means you have to play with your other ADS settings. The ADS settings you use under expo shouldn’t be the same as the one you use under linear. Also a good controller with fresh dead zones should also help
@@nehmoomakor1872 rodgy, I got a brand new controller and did mess around with the other settings. I have turned off boost and reduced my dampening as well. I'm still learning it all so if you have any advice on which settings you found helpful do let us know :)

Personally, I've had luck dragging the player away from the npc. Or even use the corners and just focus on the players. Although with recon npxs, you just should stick with range and keep moving.
Do I usually play on controller? No. Am I still going to watch the whole video? Yes. Do I own an AIM Controller I purchased using code “EvolveJake”? Also yes. Have I used it enough times to justify such an expensive purchase? Again, no.
My biggest kryptonite when starting Fortnite a couple years ago on Xbox was trying to get hits on close range fights while jumping. My thumb would always go berserk no matter how much I tried, so I finally got a controller with 2 paddles. Mapping the left paddle for crouch and right paddle for jump was a game changer. My middle fingers already rest on the paddle location so it’s effortless and allows me to get more kills. As long as you don’t mind a wired controller, $30 for an enhanced controller with paddles is worth the investment. I’ll never go back to regular controller!

PS Edge controller - change dead zone settings on BOTH controller AND also in Fortnite game settings? If on both, do they stack/add up? - meaning does 2 & 2 makes an actual dead zone of 4? OR only in one place? ie o% on Edge and desired setting in Fortnite settings? OR the other way around? If only one place, does it make any difference which place to choose to make the settings? OR half and half? Can't find the answer with internet search. Hope you or one of your followers can help.
I have stiff old man hands so I switched my triggers to have better ADS aim shooting. I also have a cheap controller with bottom buttons for jump and pickaxe.
I play on Controller on my PC, and my game friends thought that play on KBM, due to my movement and aiming. And they were surprised that i was on controller! I dont consider myself as a sweat tho!

Try flick stick. A controller layout designed to bridge the gap between kb/m and controller further. Requires gyro. Fortnite has native support and layouts for flick stick.
I use a PS5 Scuf Controller on PC. Having the ability to jump/slide/crouch and switch between axe and weapon without taking my thumbs off the sticks is too valuable for me. I've been using Scuf and Aim controllers since 2015 and I love them.
As a poor mans alternative, i have always swapped jump to L1 in all FPS games i play on controller to work around having to play claw or having paddles.

In the auto shotgun meta in zero build controller is always at an advantage. I just started playing in season 5 and I play both inputs and on roller I use the gyro aiming on and it makes it so you can be almost as accurate at range as mnk. On mnk I can usually tell if I die to a roller, fortnite is the only game I've seen people say mnk is at an advantage. It's interesting
Using the DualSense Edge and the controller is soooo much more advanced than I am used to that I am having to get used to it in piece meal. First was the trigger stroke depth then swapping the sticks and then the adjusted sensitivity and finally will be the back buttons but yesh its a lot.

I just switched to Keyboard and Mouse tho a month ago and my edits are insane now compared to controller but now my aim isn't as good. But I'm just gonna keep working on it and hopefully it'll get better. But also I used to never hip fire idk why, but on KB&M I'm always hip firing. Now I need to learn to ads when they're not as close. But your old video on aiming better with controller is why I switched to a paddled controller and to anyone who wants to get better, trust me, even if you play Zero Build its just so much better. I used to never crouch when fighting cuz it threw off my aim so I used a paddle to crouch. The other 3 paddles were to Jump, Switch To Pick Axe, and Edit.
I play on fusion pro for switch. I look down too much and i have trouble holding the right stick down to control recoil. I'm shit at close range and my sens is 30/30 on linear.
I play on a black ps5 standard controller with 4 paddles as an attatchment and i use control freaks (Its a thing that you can put on your controller to increase the height of the sticks
What I’ve done (regarding the jumping while aiming) is that I’ve swapped my sprint and jump binds; that way you can continue to slide cancel and such while still being able to jump and hipfire in shotgun fights. It takes a little getting used to but its a lot easier to adjust to than claw and cheaper than going and buying an $80-$100 controller.
Ok call me a dork but this has really helped me … I took two thin strips of window cling vinyl and put it on the screen where my cross hairs are and having a larger constant visual of where my shot it going to land has improved my game .. or atleast I feel it has
Hey great video! I play on the ps5 dual sense edge and use my right paddle for jump and my left paddle for setting markers and marking enemies since i play with people often. I dont play on advanced settings since it doesn’t feel comfortable to me. I play on 5 for my hipfire and 6 for my ads sense. my biggest problem right now is movement. I see people sprint slide back and forth to dodge or confuse the opponent but i cant manage to replicate that
They recently messed with that. Now you need to press sprint then slide buttons alternatively. Before you could just sprint and keep hitting slide button
I have my back left as jump with the half dome and back right as slide/crouch with the paddle so i can control when I jump while being able to slide/crouch span eazy.(must turn toggle crouch off)
I use a dual sense edge on pc (paid $5 for DSX to make it work well) I have jump on the right half dome, crouch slide on left half dome and sprint on L3. I can keep my thumbs on my sticks and it feels very comfortable. I've only played shooters for about a year (coming from RPGs and stratagy games) and I can say having the paddles has helped me a bunch and watching + learning from Jake helped me a whole bunch. My key takeaways on this video is movement on the left stick! Right when you said it I knew it was a flaw of mine. Makes so much sense. I loose to guys that do this and win against guys (like me) who aim with right stick only. Mind blown 🤯 - with that said, is there any map that you could recommend I can train on now thinking with aiming with L+R stick? Also a big ah-ha moment was no aim assist in bushes. I always wondered why it got word for me in the bush unless I left the bush etc. Thanks a lot! If your on ps5 the new Edge controller makes a HUGGGE difference. Being able to sprint/slide while switching weapons and shooing without taking your fingers off the sticks changes everything.
I play with a standard PS5 controller, but I've been thinking about getting a DualSense Edge for a while because I'm handicapped when I jump and shoot. That $200 price tag just hasn't allowed me to pull the trigger yet.
I do a weird thing, I put my ads on right trigger and shooting on left trigger, that way while I’m shooting or tap shooting, it isolates my shooting to my left hand, and my my aim to my right hand, it feels like I get more dexterity on my aim since my right hand is doing less work. It’s a bitch to get used too but now that’s the only way I want to play shooters
I just changed my sprint to L1 and jump to L3. Previous weapon to circle. It's working nice so far. Can't afford an expensive controller w bumpers etc. Think this will work just fine

They have been numerous controller players that have placed well in tournaments on controller. Mero has won several FNCS which is the big tourney at the end of the season and won the lan last year while playing on controller. I think the gap is larger in builds than zb in kb favor and even in builds you see controller players that are able to keep up. I agree crossplay is dumb I liked it more when it was console vs console.

Try using a paddle for X to loot faster without letting off your right aim stick. Still experimenting with other binds. But that has helped me.

As a lifelong console/controller player, I have no desire to ever try keyboard and mouse. It just seems so unintuitive and clunky to me.

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 for me. I have mouse and keyboard as well but I have not dedicated the time to get good with them.
Lowering the hipfire was a big one for me, controller shines when you focus on tracking and using body motion more to line up shots.
Made a big difference for me as well, especially after movement got nerfed, u don’t need to be running in circles anymore
I need too work on it cause I automatically aim in in any shooter I play when I see a person regardless of how close they are to me

How do you use the the triangle scope (2x scope) do place the point of the triangle on the upper torso? or the point onto the head?

I dont play on advanced settings since it doesn’t feel comfortable to me. I play on 5 for my hipfire and 6 for my ads sense. my biggest problem right now is movement. I see people sprint slide back and forth to dodge or confuse the opponent but i cant manage to replicate that
They recently messed with that. Now you need to press sprint then slide buttons alternatively. Before you could just sprint and keep hitting slide button
I have my back left as jump with the half dome and back right as slide/crouch with the paddle so i can control when I jump while being able to slide/crouch span eazy.(must turn toggle crouch off)
I say pc player not because of keyboard and mouse because they likely got better fps then I

I use a dual sense edge on pc (paid $5 for DSX to make it work well) I have jump on the right half dome, crouch slide on left half dome and sprint on L3. I can keep my thumbs on my sticks and it feels very comfortable. I've only played shooters for about a year (coming from RPGs and stratagy games) and I can say having the paddles has helped me a bunch and watching + learning from Jake helped me a whole bunch.
My key takeaways on this video is movement on the left stick! Right when you said it I knew it was a flaw of mine. Makes so much sense. I loose to guys that do this and win against guys (like me) who aim with right stick only. Mind blown 🤯 - with that said, is there any map that you could recommend I can train on now thinking with aiming with L+R stick?
Also a big ah-ha moment was no aim assist in bushes. I always wondered why it got word for me in the bush unless I left the bush etc.

If your on ps5 the new Edge controller makes a HUGGGE difference. Being able to sprint/slide while switching weapons and shooing without taking your fingers off the sticks changes everything.

I play with a standard PS5 controller, but I've been thinking about getting a DualSense Edge for a while because I'm handicapped when I jump and shoot. That $200 price tag just hasn't allowed me to pull the trigger yet.

I do a weird thing, I put my ads on right trigger and shooting on left trigger, that way while I’m shooting or tap shooting, it isolates my shooting to my left hand, and my my aim to my right hand, it feels like I get more dexterity on my aim since my right hand is doing less work. It’s a bitch to get used too but now that’s the only way I want to play shooters
I just changed my sprint to L1 and jump to L3. Previous weapon to circle. It's working nice so far. Can't afford an expensive controller w bumpers etc. Think this will work just fine

They have been numerous controller players that have placed well in tournaments on controller. Mero has won several FNCS which is the big tourney at the end of the season and won the lan last year while playing on controller. I think the gap is larger in builds than zb in kb favor and even in builds you see controller players that are able to keep up. I agree crossplay is dumb I liked it more when it was console vs console.
