its an interesting scenario of what would have happened had the UK been adamant in their occupation / control of Constantinopel. As a result the UK goes to war against the Turkish National Movement. England wins the first battle and consolidate control around the strait while the guerillas control the eastern highlands of Anatolia.
However angers grow while support for continued UK occupation falters. Inspired by Mussolini and Hitler, a dictator rises that around the time of the Spanish civil war finally manages to throw the British out. People cheer as his army marches into the city of the worlds desire, but he wants more, much much more, and with Hitler as his ally he is sure he will get it.

@@TheTimelessTapesstry This is part of a larger scenario actually.
the second world war happened much as it did, and ended with the soviet occupation of Turkey.
Constantinople was renamed Leningrad, and quickly became the second most important city in all of the USSR after Russia itself.
Thou may ask, why Leningrad, didn't Russia already have a leningrad?
No because St. Petersburg was part of the Grand Dutchy of Novgorod ruled by Nicolas II.
His daring rescue came as a result of the Scandinavian expeditionary force, that had entered western Russia after remaining neutral for most of the great war, at the behest of Finland who had applied for membership.
