- Julian Molina is the first adaptive athlete to compete in the Real Series. At age 7, Julian lost his leg in a skateboarding accident. Then he picked up a BMX bike and started devising new techniques to ride street with just one leg and a crutch to maneuver. We normally don't feature the behind the scenes segments of all the athletes in the Real Series (it's in the full episode though) but we thought this cutdown was worth it because Julian is a straight up badass! I am not about giving out accolades without someone deserving them. Doing the things this guy does is absolutely amazing. I tried from age 20-23 to be a good bike rider. I was able to hit large dirt jumps and box jumps. Small tricks here and there. But the tricks done here are not easy. And with his special circumstances... absolutely incredible. This is real bmx, why? because of dedication. He went through so much struggle, yet is strong and still on the bike. Real bmx is the struggle, work, pressure, fear, anger, relieve, glory and so much more. I wouldn't say switch whip from 15 stair is real bmx, amazing trick but nobody does that. What is real is what every rider has to face himself and Julian is one of the kind in this community, he experienced even more than regular riders and he is still shredding, thats the real bmx.

Thank you for this video. I’m an amputee and I still ride but I stopped for about 7-8 years and I’m finding a lot of stuff hard that I’m having to find new ways to do. One if which is that foot jam tailwhip. I never thought about jumping onto the frame. But thank you very much. Please tell this young man to start a channel. I think he’d do great.
