That's fantastic, and considering it was built 40 years ago it's not only in great shape but also shows great skill at a time when n gauge was still a relatively new phenomenon. Well done, a kudos to the kids and grandkids for not wrecking the trains 😋
I remember the first time I saw this layout in N Scale Primer and always wanted to see more of it. After 40 years I finally get to see it. Thank you for posting this video! What a great little layout!
I am here because my Mrs. sent the link. Bravo! I love trains as my Irish 2nd great grandfather and Italian great grandfathers worked for the Boston and Albany.
My coffee table is an N Scale layout as well. Though I will say yours is old and I must say it is more detailed, I have had 35 plus years of enjoyment from it. Running them is fun. But like you watching my kids and a host of friends, kids, and now grandchildren, including a 19 year old grandchild, is the absolute best part. Good job, it really is a nice table, and the layout is fantastic! As I have been told and will pass it to you, be proud of your work and the fun you have passed on to all the children.
Love all that Chessie rolling stock. It is what I saw as a kid in SE Pa. I like how you have no roadways but are not missed unless one looks for them. They can take up so much room on a tiny layout. Water part reminds me a bit of the upper Chesapeake. Well done. Thank you for posting.
Love it... thanks for sharing. You have also got me to thinking... maybe I wont sell my childhood N-Scale equipment after all. I have a glass topped coffee table that is crying out for a mini layout in it. 🚂🚃🚃🚃 Now to watch your garden vids.😀 Cheers
So cool. I had an Empire railroad I freelanced back in the late 80s and had six of those good running N-scale, Hong Kong Bachmanns with the metal gears. I had two U36Bs, two F9s, and two GP40s. I also used Rapido couplers. The knuckle couplers back then produced a jiggling effect when running trains down the track. The Rapidos were much more reliable.
This is just fabulous. It is so nice that your grandchildren are getting to enjoy the fruits of your labor. I'm sure you must love that. Thanks for sharing.
You do realize this piece of art is done in the 80s, right? This guy must be a master for a very long time, "keep up the good work" usually gives to someone in early stage of his carrier, it is not appropriate here.
A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale layout and model a steam-era mountain railroad, though I don't believe I'll have any waterfront industries.
Yes indeed, what everyone has said, amazing talent Sir. I'm guessing I have that issue of M-R. The bigger scales are cool, (as they all are), and I've had and have O gauge Lionel and other brands, H.O., a variety, no Z, maybe some day. But, at least for me, realistically, it is difficult to devote the "real estate" to anything bigger layout-wise, than N scale. And of course there is the always to be considered cost. But it can be as much or as little as You please, make it or purchase it, that is the variety, and fun, of the hobby !
Glad you enjoyed it. I maintain the 35 year old "N" scale table, but in my old age I primarily work in "G" now. It is easier on the eyes and fingers and I run it outdoors where I have more space..
i like the crane and barge setup. does the crane work? when i was a kid , they told us to get rid of those oprating accessories . now they are all the rage . eggscllent job.
@@richardperrelli3970 I love the detail you put into the Surroundings and track layout . . As a beginner, may I ask what Brand of Train set is good to use ?
There are many very helpful N scale locomotive reviews on RUclips that compare new and old models from different manufacturers. Here is one: ruclips.net/video/taR-NdmAEPY/видео.html From my experience, KATO has always made smooth and quiet running locomotives with good electrical pick up. Bachmann, Atlas, and Life Like make some good locomotives now, but earlier models could be very problematic.
Nice, but I'm looking for the layout track plan that was on the inside cover of an Atlas track book, it had two levels... there was also a steam engine in the pic. If anyone know of this track plan... I'd like to get a copy. Thanks
Loved this video…then loved it even more when I heard “drawah”

I used to have that edition of model railroader . I was a much younger man then.
Yea, I was much younger then too.
I remember the first time I saw this layout in N Scale Primer and always wanted to see more of it. After 40 years I finally get to see it. Thank you for posting this video! What a great little layout!
I do remember this layout many years ago but could not zoom in on the details, now I can see it running. Thank you so much.
🙂
Great layout. I love the way you managed to put so much into a small space without the final result looking toy-like. 👍
This is exactly the kind of project I'd like to attempt some day soon. Thanks for showing us what's possible!
This is very relaxing. Very nice narration too.
Great video, thanks for sharing! :-)

That's far out. Brilliant design and use of space.
I'm a sucker for anything transition era.
Had this idea for building for my Grandkids. I thought I would see if anyone else built one. Nice job
Cool. I wish I was as handy. Would be great to have as a desk so I can watch trains while working :)
Can't believe this is N scale, incredible work....
A nice little layout - and a brillant video. Thanks for sharing it.
Beautiful thanks for keeping that 'small' piece of model railroad magazine memorabilia alive!!!
Fantastic layout. Thanks for the video!
🙂

FANTASTIC!
I'll be on the hunt for a table to transform, as you have, into a remarkably full-featured layout for my n-scale beauties!
Beyond awesome!
Bravo!!! Well done on all fronts. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing, exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thank you for the inspiration!
Beautiful work!

Lovely layout.
Beautiful!
It's amazing what you can do in a small space with N scale
AWESOME!!! Keep up the good work.

Very nicely done.
Love it!!
I am eventually going to scale down to something of this size. Great job and great video. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful layout.
Nice little layout 😎

I've always been HO myself but for a very long time I've wanted to build a N scale coffee table as well

Very Nice layout with great details. What's your next project going to be now?
Not sure what I will work next. I am temporarily distracted with making the fish nets functional on my R/C fishing trawler.
i like the crane and barge setup. does the crane work? when i was a kid , they told us to get rid of those oprating accessories . now they are all the rage . eggscllent job.
Thanks. The crane is not powered, but it can me manually moved down its track and rotated.
Very nice. Did you build this yourself ?
Thanks. I had some experience building simple wood furniture, so I designed and built the table and the layout to work together.

Nice layout, what is the size of the layout?
Good Question. The inside dimensions are 27 in by 55 inches.

Always think that one day I'll do the same but in Z
You can pack a lot into a table in Z
Salut my friend super train super video subscribe subscribe 🚂🚂🚂🚂
