Okey dokey, lets see what we got baking in the oven. Yeah, ya, ya, ya, ya. Not yet a match. Ok well, it look's like we are about one degree Celsius off on that ah magenta color. I guess I am gonna have to quantify the 7F reading on this and that would run it through the surface gravity viscosity. Holy crap, this is what I've needed my whole life! I have several games in my Xbox 360, Wii, and GameCube libraries that have that generic GameStop label on them with really broken cases, and it bugs me so much having them take up the same shelf spaces as all my perfect-condition regular boxes.
This upload was perfectly timed. I'm working on improving my collection by getting cases and cover arts for my loose games and one in generic gamestop cases. I also just cleaned the annoying sales stickers from all my second hand games.
@@57HarleyDavidson Please elaborate. You can't contradict a comment with "no it's not". And yes, the sleeves are fake, there's countless videos proving this on RUclips, loot at Top Hat Gaming Man's rather extensive coverage of it a few years ago.
Big props for suggesting labeling as a repro. The only additional suggestion I have is that many of the printers that I've worked with couldn't print 10.75" on 11" paper because of their required margins. In that case you may have to try to find a different printer, use a different paper size (like legal or A4), or print in two parts, hiding the seam at one of the cover folds.
A quick second note; though glossy paper is definitely preferable, regular paper or cardstock is serviceable in this application. Under the plastic protector the difference is reduced. Don't let paper type dissuade you from improving the visage of your collection.
What's the excitement about labeling that it's a big fake pointless cover? If it's done professionally like his cover, it's not even different. There's no save bug, there's nothing that affects the physical game. Labels get trashed all the time. Stickers and inserts. Paper goods are biodegradable. If it looks "fake" then definitely label it how you want. But if it's perfect, you just send it back to fake by labeling it.

I believe that manuals use the same type of glossy paper. Depending on the games you're after, you could be able to find a manual on replacementdocs.com, www.nintendo.co.jp/clv/manuals/en/index.html *(IMPORTANT: Make sure you download the "Printed Manual" link. Otherwise you will get the Virtual Console manual.* The VC manual is only helpful in a couple of cases. Found that out the hard way.), www.nintendo.co.jp/clvs/manuals/en_us/index.html, or vimm.net/?p=manual. However, I'm not yet versed with the manuals' dimensions, so I can't help there. Hopefully, somebody will provide a manual-printing tutorial.
Really cool! If a game doesn't have the original box, I avoid it but sometimes you don't have a choice and I do have a few. This could really help in replacing those cases. If you're good at drawing or with photoshop, you can make your own original covers.
I did one for Wii Sports back then when the Wii was new. Wasn't a fan of the cardboard "case". I felt I was scratching my disc every time I took it out. I used white DVD case from old movie and printed a custom image for the cover. Now that I remember, I did one for Link's Crossbow Training too. 😅
OMG I got new artwork for those as well. They gave you the actual manuals but the covers sucked. Actually was able to find the official artwork only for one of them on ebay so that was easy. Link's crossbow already had a real case and artwork in Europe I got my copy for a dollar.
I used some cd sleeves for those games. They're basically like the rice paper sleeves that are used for CDs in Japanese miniLP packaging. Or at least the ones they're supposed to use with US releases, which they don't.
*When I started learing Photoshop I actually created my own GameCube Lable for Pac-Man versus (EU) which was a 2nd disc game only in some random GameCube games here in EU.* I spend over 20 hrs creating it to the point that I even used the original product code (EAN) and a bar code genetator to implement an actual fuctional bar code on the boxart, as well as ingame images and original US texts and fonts used on the US box for Pac-Man world 2. Thank you! I've been looking for a video like this for years! I lost the case to one of my favorite games years ago and, while I've bought empty cases, I've never found a good resource for box art.
Ayy I've been doing this for a while, another tip too, is if you don't feel like waiting for a shipment of cases to come in and the game store doesn't have any, try the 99 cent store. They always seem to have regular retail DVDs and often times too ones in white cases. I bought like 3 copies of the third TMNT movie and gave the contents to people who might want them, or tossed them, and then BAM high quality cases for cheap and no waiting on shipping!
What also works fine: Download a GameBoy image on CoverProject and put it into a DS case. Some of the images are especially made for them, and they're looking great in your shelf.
Im so glad you did this. I recently bought A Hat in time on Switch (So I could have a physical copy) and it came with one of those Cheapo Gamestop stock covers. This is gonna be a huge help for me.
I had to choice but to go at a copy digital local where to print my covers and I had to install Gimp in their machines so I can get the most accurate measured for my CD PS1 boxes, and to find a good render of the box art I have to resource to Gamefaqs instead of the cover project (sometimes they have in-lay covers) So yeah this is the most useful video I've seen so far :)
I did one for Link's crossbow training even though it's not that good of a game, but the case looks amazing. From the Wii logo to the side of the cover are all gold
0:10 According to another video, they do that because the game was sold to them without the case or in a case with a damaged insert, and they want to avoid copyright infringement like what happened to CEX.
Thanks for making this. A long time ago, my mom threw out all of my old wii cases and now i have to make new ones. So I have to do this for every last wii game lol. Thanks again!
I was at game xchange on Friday and got really excited to see they had tactics ogre and lufia for gba. Took them home and cleaned them up only to find out lufia was a repro. Thankfully it was only $20 and still saves normally so I'm going to keep it.
@Nintendrew I use the same solution for my game collection as well but with a twist. Basically for Disc based Games such as DVD, CD, Blu-ray, Mini DVD etc if games have sequels trilogies etc I put them together in case that can hold more than one disc then print off the right cover art rather than individual covers for each individual game.
Just as an added step, if you're going to be making box art reproductions often enough, it might be worth it to get a paper cutter to trim the paper evenly instead of cutting with regular scissors, especially for the smaller and odd sized boxes like for the Switch or DS. I've seen compact sized ones for about $25, so it might be worth checking out a craft or office supply store.
I just today bought a used copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and was thinking about how bad the cover looked when I saw this video. Thank you, this was super helpful!

Im so glad you did this. I recently bought A Hat in time on Switch (So I could have a physical copy) and it came with one of those Cheapo Gamestop stock covers. This is gonna be a huge help for me.
I had to choice but to go at a copy digital local where to print my covers and I had to install Gimp in their machines so I can get the most accurate measured for my CD PS1 boxes, and to find a good render of the box art I have to resource to Gamefaqs instead of the cover project (sometimes they have in-lay covers)
So yeah this is the most useful video I've seen so far :)
Finally I can start putting my 3ds games in cases and I can start getting more job offers!
I did one for Link's crossbow training even though it's not that good of a game, but the case looks amazing. From the Wii logo to the side of the cover are all gold
Perfect timing on this one, I was just looking into how to do this. 😁
5 years later and this was extremely helpful thanks!
ok, that custom virtual boy box is actually pretty cool!
honestly just being told about the nintendo replacement cases was a huge plus
Three of my games cases got ruined via flooding, this guide was vedry helpful in remaking the covers. Thank you.
I was at game xchange on Friday and got really excited to see they had tactics ogre and lufia for gba. Took them home and cleaned them up only to find out lufia was a repro. Thankfully it was only $20 and still saves normally so I'm going to keep it.
Thank you. Because of this I now have proper box art for melee and brawl!
I was able to re-print some of my most beloved games, such as Silent Hill (2,3,4 and 0), Clock tower 3, dragon quest 8.... thanks dude!
Room and collection is truly nice!
I just today bought a used copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and was thinking about how bad the cover looked when I saw this video. Thank you, this was super helpful!
I’m glad i found this my aunt just gave me a bunch of loose cartridges for the switch with no cases so I wanted to do this to make it look like I have the actual cases
All the effort just to make our games look good should show the developers how we hate all the 'classics/essentials/playstation hits/platinum/etc.' shitty covers and force 'em to stop priducing them. THANKS A LOT. I can finally make some of my games (which I got from someone) look like they should
