I know it’s not strictly speaking the way creepy story’s go, but I really do like a form of happy ending, it feels so much more like the struggles we hear/read were all worth it in the end
Wonderful, magical, Joyful tale! It rekindles that childhood fantasy of evil being redeemed by the power of love - a message this world desperately needs to believe in again. What a wonderful gift!
I want this to be made into a movie and then go on into a show about Matilda and Ms Mortimer teaching him magic and maybe collecting more abused or homeless kids and saving them and making a community for themselves 😅
It’d definitely be a very captivating book series if the author adds more chapters to the story. And with all the great advancements in CGI and camera technology, the movies would probably complement the book series quite nicely. “The Mortimer Chronicles” could be a potential title for it.
that's finally a really well done story. content wise and told by you. so many of the stories are just clichés or not well-written. you got a really good voice to pull them off but that does not change the fact that most are not very good.

With a bit of revision for the screen adaptation this could be a really great adventurous movie in the vein of those great movies of the 1980s like the Goonies etc. Perhaps a bit scarier. It gave me sort of that kind of vibe I got while watching a Harry Potter movie yet a bit darker thematically.
