Thanks for this useful video. Can you do a video on when to use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager for tracking? Or the differences b/w the two, it would help a lot.
Hi I have a question lets say I made a url in Google url builder will it automatically show the url in Google analytics or you need to do something special.
Thanks for sharing! Question: once I have created the URL, Copy & insert it to my ad in FB, do i need to go back to my google analytics dashboard and insert the URL?
Where is the campaign builder URL placed if you own/have a website and you use a third party advertiser who sends out your ad in their newsletter? Do you provide them with the URL?
Thank you very much. So helpful. In my case, I am running 2 ad groups under same campaign with different audience targeting, and same ads, (youtube video). Now mainly I am measuring which ad group go well, is there any way to differentiate ad groups as same as there is section for ads? Thanks
Thank u for the tutorial surfside ppc. I have a question. What we do not need to worry about if auto tagging enabled mate. Do we still need to write source medium manually, or where auto tagging does the job.
Great tutorial! Thank you. I have been supplied Google Analytics tracking code - but where do I use it when building 1) Google PPC 2) Linkedin ads and 3) Facebook/IG - is the tracking code URL just the URL destination for all the ads - so just goes where the URL would have gone? BIG THANKS
Thanks for doing these! Question about one of the tracking URLs you created for an organic FB post. Where / how would you attached this tracking url to an organic post. Most posts don't have links associated with them. Correct. Is this a thing, where you can track organic traffic to your site from an organic FB post?
Great informative video. After creating the UTM URLs, we are using these at destination URL's of the campaign we built on like Google Ads, Pinterest Ads, InstaAds etc, correct? After then, does it automatically track in Google Analytics, (Aquiciston > Campaign > All Campaign), or do we need to set this up as well? Can you help!
Wow thanks for the video, very informative! I am assuming we paste the generated campaign url into the url of each adcopy to track in analytics, which adcopy was responsible for conversions?
Thank you and yes that's right, once you create the URL with tracking then you want to use it as the final URL for your advertisements so you can track your campaigns.
@@Surfsideppc Is it better to place the full Campaign URL into each individual ad or can you achieve the same result by placing the "utm_...." section it into the Ad Group Settings >> Final URL Suffix?
Thank you for the videos! For some reason my campaign name/source/medium don't appear in GA. Is it because I am using link to a PDF instead of HTML or is it because I MUST have an account with Google Ad?
Thanks for sharing! at first, i saw no data ...but changing the tracking timeframe to "today" helps (because I'm a new user so I cant see past data and everything starts a blank)
From all the videos I watched about UTM Tracking yours is definitely the most complete, best explained and exemplified. Thank you for this effort! Just one question. Is creating UTM code for organic social media posts useful as, for instance, Facebook and Pinterest provide data on users' interactions with the posts?
Thank you! Yes, UTM tracking is very useful for social media post tracking, especially if you drive a lot of traffic from social media. You can set-up a campaign called 'Facebook Social' for example and then update the Campaign Term for specific posts or dates to see what Facebook posts perform the best. All of the data will come in through the Campaign tab in Google Analytics.
Great job of explaining UTM Tracking. I have gotten Google Tech. to help me to setup a Ad Campaign. This is my first Google Ad Campaign, they told me I didn't need to setup the UTM, is that true?
Hi great video. Do you have any videos/articles showing how to pass the UTM parameters to other pages? Once you move from the landing page, you lose the parameters and so adding them to CRM is difficult.
If you're not seeing it when you go to Acquisition > Campaigns > All Campaigns, then I would double-check that your Google Analytics code is implemented on every page. On Google Chrome, you can use Google Tag Assistant (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tag-assistant-by-google/kejbdjndbnbjgmefkgdddjlbokphdefk?hl=en) to make sure that Google Analytics is on your landing page. I would also try navigating your website and using the Realtime tab in Google Analytics to make sure your website tracks you as you visit different pages.
Thank you so much i think you are doing a phenomenal job... Just wanted to know how can I track my affiliate links on my blog??? Google analytics goal set up doesn't good that good or bitly.... The way these wpbeginner and other big websites track there affiliate links !
Thanks for the sharing, Just a quick question will it be possible use UTM code to track each visual performance not only just the campaign/adgroup/ads level? Thank You
Hi, very useful video. I understood everything you said about url builder, but I have a question once we build the link in url builder for ex for facebook organic traffic you copied all the urls from url builder into the notepad file just to keep track, but where would we put this link on the actual Facebook page that we are tracking i.e. the Facebook page FROM WHICH the customer landed on our website. So I am a little confused about this, can you please clarify. Thanks so much.
Thanks for the great tutorial, i have a link for a pdf file in my website and i already create G-analytics account for it, i dont have a google ad account so im trying to campture the link hits over whatsapp or email, i did make several test and nothing apear there, can u advice on this?
After I create it in URL builder does it automatically go to analytics or is there setup I need to do there, when i test my link it does not appear in Analytics even after 24 hours.
I used the url builder to create a link for my three Pinterest Ads but in my google analytics Reports > Campaigns > All Campaigns is empty... 0 users 0 sessions. Something is broken. Do I have to create an event in tag manager? I use a squarespace.
You can add it as your Final URL, but I would recommend using auto-tagging and linking your Google Ads and Google Analytics accounts. There's more information here: support.google.com/google-ads/answer/1704341?hl=en&ref_topic=3121765

Hi I have a question lets say I made a url in Google url builder will it automatically show the url in Google analytics or you need to do something special.
It does not work for me. I created couple URLs, but they are not shown in google analytics. Any idea what I should do?
Useful for marketer
Thanks for sharing! Question: once I have created the URL, Copy & insert it to my ad in FB, do i need to go back to my google analytics dashboard and insert the URL?
the reports are not showing on my google analytics, how do I set it up so the data from the custom URL link will show? -I'm new to this :)

Great video! Do you have another tutorial where it explains how you put the source, medium, and campaign name in Google Analytics as a new segment?

Please let me know if you have any questions about UTM Tracking in Google Analytics. Thanks for watching my video!
Thank u for the tutorial surfside ppc.
I have a question.
What we do not need to worry about if auto tagging enabled mate. Do we still need to write source medium manually, or where auto tagging does the job.
thanks for the video! one question: why is organic the "Campaign Term" and not the "Medium" like cpc? Is this important where to put it?
What if you have more than one "property" will the URL Builder link to the specific property automatically just because of the domain name?
Surfside PPC can you delete a campaign ? I made one by accident and I would like to delete it and start a new one. Please, thanks
Where to place this URL ? In Google ads and other ads campaigns ?
Yes, you can use them for your advertising campaigns, social media posts, referral traffic from other websites, guest blog posts, etc.

Have you played with Facebook attribution or analytics tool? would be nice to see them covered :D
What is it use for? I still don't understand
how to add the link in google cpc ads
You can add it as your Final URL, but I would recommend using auto-tagging and linking your Google Ads and Google Analytics accounts. There's more information here: support.google.com/google-ads/answer/1704341?hl=en&ref_topic=3121765
how to delete the campaign please tell me

Can you use UTM to track traffic coming back to your Instagram business page?
What if you have more than one "property" will the URL Builder link to the specific property automatically just because of the domain name?
