So crazy how accurate you are at long distance shots.

It's crazy how anyone can accurately guess the distance with enough experience. I really don't get how the fuck It works.

@@pdr_2703 I don’t even think this guy is calculating it and is just guessing, but normally you’d use stadiametric rangefinding either with a custom sight or you can still use the default one but there’s only horizontal mils and only in increments of 4. But basically to put it simply if you know the dimensions of something in meters, it can be length, width, or height, whatever. You multiply that by 1000 to get it into millimeters (alternatively if you don’t your answer will just be kilometers instead of meters which is fine and is faster that way) then divide that by how many mils it takes up in your scope to get the range If you know a particular tank to be 3 meters wide and it takes up 3 mils it’s 1000m cause it’d be 3*1000/3 = 1000m or alternatively just 3/3 for 1km away 2 mils is 1500m 1.5 mils would be 2000m and 1 mil would be 3000m, now if the target is moving it’s important to know the TOF (Time Of Flight) it takes the shell to get there. For the sake of simplicity say your shell has a muzzle velocity of 1000m/s and the target is 2000m away. Technically the round does slow down over time even in war thunder but it’s safe to say the TOF will be roughly 2 seconds. Count how many mils they move across your scope in 1 second (do 1 second cause you don’t want to spend so much time counting since the guy you wanna shoot could be accelerating plus you just don’t wanna spend that much time) so either count 0, 1 or 1, 2 the first number is like you starting a stopwatch at 0 and the second number is when it’s actually been 1 second. Let’s say they moved 4 mils horizontally in 1 second Multiply that number by the TOF in this case 2 seconds. so you’d need to aim about 8 mils. Although since the person could be accelerating and the TOF won’t be exactly 2 seconds due to air resistance it’s good to add just another mil or 2. And luckily since tanks are really long and only move sideways across your scope when they face their side to you it means you can be off by a bit and still kill them, or take out their engine then shoot another shot, etc
Me personally I made a custom sight that has the first bunch of mils in increments of 1, the other biggest piece of advice I can give is to use MEMORIZATION. You don’t need to be mr. math wiz calculating a million things when you should be taking a shot. It’s better to have some of those things memorized like roughly how far away most tanks are if they take up x mils, knowing when the time of flight becomes 1 second, 1.5, 2 etc instead of trying to figure it out on the spot

@@BladezAndrew That's what I thought what you needed to do to shoot accurately in my first days of realistic battles. I spent a solid hour trying to rangefind in the test range, I didn't know there was a key for that and ngl, that option is absolutely useless with a noob crew. I would always miss everything, War Thunder is too fast paced to do that type of calculus, in the end It was just trial and error. 700h later, I didn't even need to think much before taking a shot, aiming became pure intuition. Even far away, If I missed a shot It wouldn't be that far off, UNLESS I was playing some derp cannon.

What is truly maddening for your opponents, is no matter what tank you drive, the outcome is usually the same.

The fact that you manage to be deadly accurate with a Russian 76.2mm gun at long ranges scare me. Even I can't pull off such shots without using the rangefinder. Even then, they still somehow miss.

The red icon during repairs is the tank's remaining battery power in percent. It affects its turret rotation if your tank turret is electric and other electric modules on modern tanks
