    I love it. Not quite 50 myself but I can appreciate the genuine ask for advice as opposed to the more comical ones blaming losses on everyone else. That's some genuine class.

      not really classy. just more mature than those immature people that need to flame teammates to eh.. feel worse, not have fun while playing a videogame and just make other people's day worse

      @@danisob3633 exactly what I was thinking. It's a sign of maturity to focus on your own mistakes instead of looking for anyone else to blame.

    I am 49 and love playing OW 2 with both of my boys (18 and 22). We get groups together and play…and they are both better than I am. I am trying to get better and they help for sure.

    As an old ow player, I can totally relate to the time it takes to learn the game. Been playing for years and only manage to hover in the Gold range. There should be a RUclips channel for those of us who got into the game in order to play with our teenage/20-something kids. Call it Over the Hill Overwatch.

    For the people in chat who were talking about how they'll be gaming at any age, just know that it's much less about a reduction in interest/ability as you get older and more about a severe reduction in free time!

      Yeah you only lose .5 ms of response per year I think after 20.. it’s not nearly as bad as people think.

      @fractalelf7760 That and you can still have fun playing action games if you don't mind about being the absolute top best and just do it for fun. Not to mention, hundreds of non-action video games where fast reaction times are not required.

    I think the problem is moving in Overwatch is more clunky than Unreal Tournament. + Overwatch has a lot slower gameplay and more healing, so it could be the reason too. (i'm 23 but i'm grow up on Unreal Tournament and this were problems that i had when first time trying Overwatch) Btw he has really good aim, i would be happy to have players like this in gold/plat lobies.

  • @TheRealHypervizor
    @TheRealHypervizor 7 месяцев назад +7

    Here's some universal advice for everyone in Plat and lower.. Play with intent. Be intentional about your movement or positioning. Meaning, actively think about why you're doing what you're doing. Not every decision will be good but if you play like that, you'll climb. Even with mid aim.

    A lot of people need to realize that overwatch is a MUCH slower paced game than most realize.
    We watch GM ranked matched and we see them making hyper fast moves and plays but the truth is they are not playing “quickly” so to speak, they’re playing smoothly
    If you’re smooth your playing well and if you develop how smoothly you play you’ll begin to get faster at it unconsciously
    I play bronze and am only beginning to practice what I preach and it’s been working! I just wanted to share this for people like me stuck in bronze imitating the greats lol

    It's hard out here for us olds just trying to keep up lol. In my day it was an achievement to beat your father at a game of 1v1 basketball. Today this has transformed into 1v1 fights on FPS shooters... and I am not going to be an easy target for my 10 year old!

    As a previous UT Player my self, that mindset is hard to let go of. Always being on the move and trying to get picks. Even years later I find it hard to let old habits die hard.

  • @stormRed
    @stormRed 7 месяцев назад +2

    Pharah, and most heroes too actually, thrives on seeing an isolated target, so if you're not on the high ground you should stay with your team more, and/or disengage faster.

    As a 48 yr old overwatch player, I play mostly tank and support around bronze/silver. I feel I could climb a little but it's hard to fit the time to play consistently into my schedule. I'm aware of my limitations and maybe high silver/low gold is where my old man reactions would hit their limits.

    A rule of thumb is, if you have more than 2 unforced potential plays for you to decide what to commit to, you're out of position/engaging from a bad angle. Always try to minimize the targets to 1-2 enemies in your fov as often as possible. This will help you focus on who to choose to engage, and also determine if you should stay and fight or back off - because you have less data to analyze so your brain will operate more efficiently. It will also help you stay safe because you're not at 5 enemies' LOS at the same time.
    Then, if you often find yourself having 1-2 play options at your disposal but neither on average tend to be good - then you gotta work on your positioning and think ahead to what type of play you'd rather make, vs the ones that are conveniently available by default. Say you always have the enemy Dva and Hanzo in your face and both are bad plays to take in terms of fight/run away - but you know the enemy also has a juicy Zenyatta and Junkrat playing further back - well now your choice becomes to preemptively seek out a position/angle that lets you focus these targets without risk of the Hanzo/Dva suddenly being in your face and denying you your desired play. That's called a rotation, you rotate your positioning from default; to a more optimal off angle/position from which you unlock a new set of optional plays that hold higher potential value and ease of success. And if you get pressured by the Dva/Hanzo from that position, then you know they'd have to sacrifice their own default plays and deviate from their plan of action, and you have the mobility to run away and have them waste their time chasing you out.

    i think part of this gamer's issue is that Unreal & games like it were SO FAST compared to OW. there are probably more APMs required in OW, but there's also so much more patience required. if this gamer can slow down & think, they'll climb to Plat easily.

    Reading some of the comments and man, I think it's so sweet when older people get into video games for their children/family. Like that's just such a nice gesture to bond with them over something they love, especially since video games can be very disorienting and frustrating to get into at first, depending on the game. It reminds me a bit of doing wii sport games with my brother and dad in the livingroom haha. Now if only I could get my dad into playing overwatch somehow lol.. between me, three of my brothers and him, we could have a full family team together 😆

    I grew up playing UT, ow is way wayyyyyy slower. Tactics with teammates and map rotations make it super slow to set up good plays. There's so much going on the screen at any given time with lots of screen clutter so it can seem fast paced, but in reality it's an illusion.

    His aim is good, but he plays like my brother, like he is running out of time and not focusing in one thing enough, like the healing cooldown a bit more patience could help him a lot because that first death was while trying to capture when it was not a good moment to do it

    Bruh you have 0 target prioritization. It's just frantic sprinting and random firing into the crowd. Sprint to a spot, see if you can focus someone down, when your distraction gets you focused run along to another spot. I swear if you do that you'll climb. This is classic "I put out 2 million damage! Why did we lose?!"
