    Brandon when I hook up a minnow I like to open the mouth and go through the roof between the nostrils. This allows the minnow to take in water with an open mouth and increases the life and action. Try it some time. I live in Muscle Shoals 3 minutes from Wilson Dam. I would love to crappie fish with you some time. Great channel and awesome videos. Thanks for sharing.

    This was a very nice video! I have a question I could not find on RUclips. So when you tie your leader line with the fluorocarbon line, what type of knot do you use to the swivel. I use the double line uni knot to the hook so i won't break off. Should I tie that same knot to the swivel? What is your opinion. I have broken off using the palomar knot to the hook using the fluorocarbon line.

  • @marcusfuller7464

    Advice? Starting to crappie fish a bit. Went today lake down 16 feet. All the brush piles I know are out of water. Most docks are on land as well. What other structure can I target?

    • @BrandonLesterFishing
      @BrandonLesterFishing  Год назад +1

      Lot of variables come into play here. What part of the country are you in? Water temp? Water clarity? Does your lake have any standing timber or brides? That might be a good place to check. Rock ledges will also hold crappie this time of year if there’s not much wood structure in a lake.

    • @coleallen8557
      @coleallen8557 Год назад

      @@BrandonLesterFishing Thanks. Kentucky. 60 water temp. Slightly stained water. I tried a little standing timber and did drop the scope on a bridge and did not see any. I will keep at it. Mostly tournament bass fish, but would enjoy fillin the freezer from time to time. Need to devote time to electronics and find some cover and structure. I caught two today off lay downs in 2 feet or less. Only one crappie per target is kinda odd.

    • @BrandonLesterFishing
      @BrandonLesterFishing  Год назад

      @@coleallen8557 it is pretty odd. I would idle around in that timber until I found a good school of them. They will school up really good from now going on into winter. Good luck!

  • @Gstar5150
    @Gstar5150 Год назад

    I don't get why you don't like otters for the fish population, it's good to have some predators that like to eat Baitfish, it keeps the Baitfish bigger since all the small ones usually get eaten. There was a Lake where they did an experiment with flatheads to see if they'd eat all the Baitfish, and all that happened was the Baitfish got bigger as a result, it's good to have a healthy amount of predators in your local waters, otherwise it will get overrun by Baitfish since they reproduce so much, which is another reason predators don't really make a dent in the Baitfish population.

    • @BrandonLesterFishing
      @BrandonLesterFishing  Год назад

      I somewhat agree with what your saying but otters don’t typically target baitfish, they eat big fish. I know of otters eating 7-10lb bass in a private lake. In large lakes they are not as bad, but in a small body of water they can be detrimental. Thanks for watching!

    • @Gstar5150
      @Gstar5150 Год назад

      @@BrandonLesterFishing that has to be a once in a while thing for a little otter to eat a trophy bass like that. I would think alligators are worse those things can eat a Giant Blue Catfish. Cottonmouths can be pretty bad too I had one try to take my crappie one time LoL, I could see a six foot Water Moccasin eating a trophy size bass since the one that tried to steal my crappie was only like 2 feet long, plus otters are adorable unlike the other 2 predators I mentioned.
