I knew Charla lost his appeal when I started to find Andrew more entertaining….Charla’s whole mental health rebrand, is cool and all but hes not entertaining anymore, he just says everything pc, and regurgitates therapist talking points…boringgggg

I think I see the disconnect between the young creators (HU, Danny, etc.), and the older creators (CTG, Mal, etc.) Young guys take on "content" is the beef, drama, addressing and speaking on other people, which is fine, but when the older guys don't do it, the younger people say they aren't entertaining. The older guys are just that, older, a little more mature and a lot of the topics that are considered content, the older guys just doesn't care about, and I can see how its frustrating. But I think it's a space for all of it.

I say AJ because he is the biggest proponent of this Charlamagne tirade and it's becoming tired. He prefers Joe Budden to Charlamagne. Let him take a cookie for that. That's fine but not everyone is him. He has what he likes, so does everyone. He can't say Charlamagne should retire because he doesn't go on tangents that he used to go on 5-10 years ago. That's very rich of him to propose. Charlamagne may not be as flagrant as he used to be but he serves a different purpose now and that's ok. I don't see how they don't see that balance. Honestly if they never made Taylor an active part of the show, I think the show would still be HITTING like it used to. Once they brought Taylor in to kick off topics years ago to bring “structure” to the show, the spontaneity that made Brilliant Idiots THE show to watch was immediately LOST. Like who cares about “what was your favorite moment of the week?” and all that nonsense.
They used to start shows sooo randomly and just kick it for an hour making up all kinds of jokes and iconic moments like the Soulja Boy Yahweh episode.
No structure is the best structure. Come in and just RIP off the top (then if topics are really needed, tap Taylor in to drop a topic).
Everything from the book 48 Laws of Power explains present day CTG. Law 11 Keep people dependent on you (Black Effect) Law 6 Create an Air of Mystery (is he gay?) Law 4 Always say less than necessary (PC tha God) Law 1 Never outshine the master (iHeart is doing big things in podcasting) It’s like he read this book once and tries to swear by it, but it comes off as not genuine
Brilliant Idiots with Wax was hilarious… but then they started clowning Wax and then it seemed like they were bullies more than friends to him. Once he left a few episodes after I stopped watching. That dynamic wasn’t there anymore.

Charlamagne always wanted to be a late night show host, and was very adamant about this. He understood he had to change his image to get into that position. All of his peers never looked at TV as being a goal, and they all easily passed him up, even Andrew. Funny thing is they all passed him up without having to change their image.
Charlemagne inauthenticity ruined brilliant idiots. It went from two authentic idiots to two inauthentic idiots. It started with Charlemagne and now Andrew has grabbed that torch. The first three years of Brilliant were classic. But I stopped listening in 2018

Brilliant Idiots was good way back in the day, like 2014-2017 when Charlamagne and Andrew were still on the rise in their respective careers. Now they're both primadonnas and insufferable to listen too, but Charla is worse. And I understand why Charla has become so PC, because those grape allegations from the past almost ended his career. Now he plays it EXTREMELY safe, panders to black women and liberals, and just collects his check. Andrew was more likeable when he was that hungry comedian on the rise and looking for respect from his comedy peers. Now that Flagrant has taken off and he's selling out big venues and getting comedy special deals, he's shown his true colors and is an egomaniacal narcissist. So basically, they both suck now. I'm also surprised that podcast is even still going. Thought it would have ended a long time ago. I think they're even surprised it's still going, but I guess it's too lucrative for them to stop.

The "brilliant idiot" is great product stricly based on the name... They can change host every decade to maintain the youthful energy to the brand.
My personal reason for slowing up on the brilliant idiots in 2018/19 up to present day. Is when charla and joe beef really started to become public and Charla was throwing stones and hiding his hands. And when joe started to fire back he called foul. I lost all respect for him at that point. More specifically with joe ex went on the Jason lee show to say that he abused her. We knew charla was behind that, and a bunch of other media games he was trying to play with Joe.
