This is one of the most ambitious and criminally underrated racing games that I have ever played. If you were to tell me that this game was released in 2020 I wouldn't even doubt it.
DiRT 2 is underrated?! That's kinda funny cause I always thought DiRT 2 was beloved by many rally fans that love to play video games... Guess I was on a different mindset. I am very lucky to pick up a DiRT 2 copy 4 years ago for PC behind a thrift store. $3 and still works on my PC today... Damn DiRT 2 age really well with minor fixing!
DiRT 2 for me comes off similarly to NFS Prostreet but off-road. Maybe it's the travelling festival aspect? The kickass soundtrack? The driving and car selection? Or all of the previously mentioned?
DiRT 2 is significantly better than NFS prostreet in every aspect, especially in realism, like jumps, prostreet: oh no one inch from ground i roll and crash DiRT 2: **jumps off a big ramp in LA(last jump before finish marina air)** that was fun!
@@muhammadfaizkhawarizmi4303 first of all, Rally cars are made to withstand jumps. Race cars don't. Lastly, jumps are supposed to be thrilling and fun, if you're using the right suspension. DIRT 2 IS PERFECT! AWESOME GAME! The graphics, the gameplay, the soundtrack (omg, the soundtrack!!) The sound of the engines, realism, damage, even the Menus is fucking awesome, you fell like you really are travelling and competing in a rally championship! No doubt is my favourite game of all the time. It blows to pieces a lot of games that are released even in 2020... Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 the best of Codemasters forever!
DiRT 2 is very similar to Skate 2 and Skate IT. This very young take on the game that was starting to be successful with the addition of graffiti, with a game with “underground” style menus, with a slightly yellowish dark screen that reminds a lot of Skate IT mainly. Play both games for you to see. Oh and of course, the event styles of this game are very similar to the NFS Pro Street but Off-Road. These car party is much like I remember the NFS Pro Street ... Undisputed this is the best rally game ever made. *DiRT 2 is legendary*
@@DarkNymph eh, idk, undergrounds have this cool vibe without the pestering police, if they could pull it off in a mw+underground mix then it would be cool
The game that got me interested in rally genre in videogames, absolutely loving it. Just imagine how it could be enhanced nowadays with better textures, more foliage & grass, and volumetric particles casting & receiving shadows to make it an ultimate DiRT game. To me everything else visually holds up to this date pretty well, not to mention its amazing soundtrack, neat driving physics, beautiful water simulation, excellent car list, DiRT-fest vibes etc. etc. What a gem of a game, indeed.
The trailer was really cool. Souvenirs used to appear after completing certain races, and I think a Christmas tree would appear around Christmastime then disappear after the season was done. The trailer in this and the garage in the original Grid really pulled you into the game.
This is LITTERALY all my childhood man, almost makes me nostalgic from when I was like 8 years old or something lol, Even though I havent played or watched a video of this game for like 4 or 5 years, everything still looks familiar
This year I bought a used DiRT 2 for my PS3, and I did a playthrough several weeks ago. First time I did a playthrough in 2013 on PC, did a 100% back then cos I liked the game that much. So, back to this year, early September, I started to play this game again, and I did a playthrough for the 2nd time, I didn't need a whole day to rush through the campaign from scratch (0%). It wasn't my first time, but I was shocked how good this game was. If I wouldn't have gone to sleep I probably could play the entire career through with a single sitting. After I finished sleeping, I went back to finish the game. :D It was maybe the happiest day in this year. For me, this year was shitty and stressful, but this game compensated me for some bad things. :) Maybe some old folks who used to develop DiRT2 have left Codemasters or some shit musta happened, but the newer DiRT games can't produce this quality. Not by a mile. DiRT3 was fine, but it wasn't as good. Showdown was a little favourite to me for quite some time, but DiRT games which were released afterwards couldn't amaze me somehow. DiRT4 is better than some 2018-2019-2020 racing games, but not too special either. I've seen some DiRT5 trailers, but I'm not hyped at all. :/ I'm not saying it will be bad, but my guess is that I won't like it. Can't be sure until I play it, but I'm not amazed, the trailers can't deliver any worthy interest... Respect for the exceptions, but games nowadays went downhill. Back then there was only one dirt game at a time, now they can afford to have a simulation hardcore rally game (dirt rally 2.0) and an arcade racer for a more laid back mainly console audience, and i honestly like the dirt showdown style handling in D5. It's not trying to be a 1:1 replica of the older games, it's just trying to preserve their fun and enjoyable aspect.
Feels like nobody knows how to make a great arcade racing game anymore, now it's either full simulation like DiRT Rally 2.0 or extremely simplified physics like DiRT 5. I miss the half term between arcade and simulation we had in Dirt 2/3/GRID/NFS ProStreet
The only rally game as far as i know, where you could overtake another opponent in a rally stage, as it happens in real life if you are way faster or maybe if someone in front had a crash/problem, and back in the days this feature was my favourite and the one who got me in love with this game, and in 2020, still nobody has this feature, it's quite a shame...
