What never gets explained by the video is that Tasil Patel was the team's manager and had been assisting the team in a variety of ways for year, but had never played in a game. He was a senior. It was his last chance to play in a game before he graduated. It's great that he finally got in a scored, but what's better is that even the opposing team was wanting him to enter and get a chance. They even cheered for him when he finally scored after several attempts. The teams are rivals. The sportsmanship displayed is a worthy reminder that how we treat each other is just as important as who wins the game.

I was the manager for the JV team, never suited up, never wanted to, I was the manager, not a player, and glad I did it, those were some of the greatest guys I ever met.

As a longtime AAU basketball coach, I must say that this is the best display of sportsmanship that I've seen on the court. Incredible job by the Truckee High players and it speaks volumes about the teaching these young men have received from their parents and coaches.
I officiated high school and college basketball for 28 years, and still love the sport. I’ve seen firsthand how hard players play and coaches coach, everyone wants to win. These moments are few and far between, and exceptionally gracious of the team that lost the game. Glad to see that there are still coaches and players who can exemplify sportsmanship and that the team that lost the game can lose with dignity and still win.
I know this video post is 2 years old, but sportsmanship is timeless. About 30 years ago I went to my Godson's little league game. They were way over matched and lost in the first or second inning to the 10 run rule. However, even though they lost, they still wanted to play the game. The coaches got together and agreed, since they still had the field available, "lets play two" for fun, so they did.
I love how #23 from the opposing team raised his arms in victory after he made that shot. Awesome!

High school sports are about so much more than wins and loses. A beautiful show of sportsmanship, something I’m sure that kid won’t soon forget.

How is it the announcers didn't point out that #20 on the opposing team is the one who passed him the ball and gets the assist?
I know this video is a couple years old, but it definitely reaffirms my faith in humanity and young people. Simply outstanding 👏
