Thank you guys for joining me on another wonderful journey through the world of Yakuza! While this game had it's flaws, it was still a delight to play and experience. Let me know what you want me to play next! Also, that post-game is both the best and the worst thing ever.
Jingu, accused of illegal possesion of firearms, yells "You have no proof!" while holding a gun. His agents then open fire on the police helicopter ...yeah, no proof, none at all
Something that its really heartbreaking in this game for me is that this story started with just four friends drinking and having a good time, and in the end Kiryu is the only one left...., how can your life get fucked that hard like nothing?
One of the cool things Yakuza 0 did good in retrospective was to give Nishiki more depth as a character, even his boss theme in 0 was called "For buddy" while here in 1/kiwami is "For who's sake" meaning Nishiki doesn't even know for who he is fighting. Back in the intro of the original yakuza 1 you get the message "To live is to not run away", which it's explored in many characters, specially kiryu who tragically caused all the events here but by the end he learns to don't run anymore.
「Loru Apollo」and at nishiki’s fibal moments, how awesome would it have been if nishiki said “Kiryu, run away” meaning: get away from the explosion and also meaning he’s not a good influence and gone too far of the deep end.
He says this is mine responsibility, which pretty much means he is sacrificing himself so kiryu can live. You can't get more good than that without being completely out of character. The dude straight out takes a bullet for kiryu
Dragon of Dadashov I can't argue about ishin because it's in japanese but there is probably a reason that it makes sense and even if there isn't, it doesn't change the fact it comes from the spin off, not the main games
Nishiki's boss fight theme is called "For who's sake?" Such a great piece of music if you ask me... And the boss fight itself just makes me want to drop into tears. ;(
The theme, just like the one NIshiki had in Yakuza 0, is a remix of Nishiki's theme in the original game (also called "For Who's Sake"). It's one of the only remixes in the game that isn't shit compared to it's original version. That said, this theme is still masively different from the OG one, so I recommend you give the OG a try, it's worth it
And to think, everyone Kiryu loved would probably still be alive if he had just let Nishiki face the consequences of killing Dojima rather than try to save him. Now the slate is clear for the future games. Oh well!
@@CherryBlossomBeats Having Nishiki serve time for the consequences of his actions isn't being an ass. In fact that's where this all went wrong. Having Nishiki serve his 10 years would've been better for everyone.
57:42 - 58:53 I don't know if I COMPLETELY agree with you on that, Nico. Nishiki DID say "Let me take responsibility" right before he died and - while that line didn't have as much impact as "I'm sorry, bro" would have had - I feel that line showed some growth. I feel that he wanted to do something right for once, seeing how he didn't take responsibility for what he did at the very beginning of the game. That said, that scene where Nishiki died REALLY got me. :(
As much as I have mixed feelings about this last chapter, I can’t deny that hearing Kiryu say “I am the Fourth Chairman!” (All that was missing there was a “Believe it!” afterwards) and the epic final duel between him and Nishiki were incredibly satisfying. That and the setting gave me a lot of Die Hard vibes, which is never a bad thing lol. Overall, I had a lot of fun experiencing this game again with you Nico, so thank you for that :)
Damn, this lp felt much quicker than Yakuza 0, heck i still haven't even been able to keep up with all the episodes, oh and also NISSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHIIIIIKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! ;_;
6 is pretty goddamn fun though. It has a lack of content but I think it's still around the same amount as Kiwami. Maybe a little longer. Also has one of my favourite cities in the series.
The Jingu bossfight is also a great example of how this game has aged, and how other Yakuza games do bossfights much better. Nevertheless, I really hope you enjoyed this game Nico, we certainly did and are looking forward to more of Majima's and Kiryu's shenanigans along with your hilarious commentary. And let's not forget our new member, the not-daughteru Haruka!
DetectiveSpiritOfBobbyFulbrightGamer It was actually easier on the PS2. The MIA guys dont stand back up after they're beaten once, and the PS2 game doesnt have the "kneeling down in pain" animations when you get shot or stabbed, so the MIA guys wont stunlock you to death
Jingu reminds me a LOT of Shido from Persona 5 to be honest. 1. He's a corrupted politician and hopes to gain more power. 2. He would sacrifice his own Child and Lover just to get what he so desires. 3. The way he tricks Nishiki reminds me a lot of how Shido tricked Akechi in P5. Also, may I point out how ridiculous Jingu's evil laugh is?
You know what the difference betwen nishiki and akechi? neither the game or the protagonist suddenly forgives the traitor in yakuza and gives him a nakama speech just becuase he was a sad little boy, FUCK THAT! you get to beat the living shit out of nishiki, im still butthurt there isn't an option to punish akechi, the game just decides for you instead and forgives the little shit. Akechi: ohhh b-b-b-but i was a bastard and i had a rough childhood. kiryu: guess what little shit? it doesn't justifies you in any way.
Oh my god he just accepted the 24-hour Cinderella XD I love this intro and this LP, what a ride! I'm hoping Miitopia could be on the list of possible LPs!
Alas poor Kazuma Kiryu as he would've hoped as soon he got back from prison that things would go back from the old days.... After his release things changed, many of the people he loved had lost their lives and then there was Nishiki.... Even though he had saved Nishikiyama from the bars of prison, life dealt him a bad hand as tragedy after tragedy struck the man. It broke him and reformed him into a man willing to overcome any obstacle at any means to get at the top. Thus is the final battle between the Mighty Dragon and the Persistent Koi. Edit: wow how did I mess up that up having two koi's.
Interesting fact for you, Nico, the song that plays during the fight with Nishikiyama is called "For Who's Sake?" In Yakuza 0, when Majima fights Nishiki, the song that plays is called "For Buddy" Even the song titles are trying to invoke feels.
Let's start a petition to get Nico to actually learn the entire lyrics to 24-Hour Cinderella so he can actually sing along and not just make noises... but anyway, that aside that's a really great intro. Kinda sad to see the game go, but hey - we still got 5 games left not counting Dead Souls and Ishin.
In terms of story, definitely. But in terms of gameplay, not so much. Kiwami 2 uses the new Dragon Engine, so going from the highly polished Kiwami combat to the new and rough Dragon engine combat might even be a downgrade(as opposed from the colossal gameplay jump of OG Yak1 to OG Yak2).
Arashi Vallerioda From what I understand, the Dragon engine from 6 to Kiwami 2 has been massively improved. When I played the demo, I had a good experience with it. It's a little stiff in the beginning but grows far more fluid as you level up.
I like that someone suggested this title last episode and Nico actually accepted that idea. Really feels like he acknowledges his community unlike other RUclipsrs. ALSO PROFESSOR LAYTON WHEN NICO WE KNOW YOU'LL LIKE IT
It is time for everyone’s favorite segment: *Xeno tries to get Nico to play Xenoblade Chronicles!* Ok, yes it’s long, and Nico will definitely not be done with it in time for Kiwami 2. However, the game is an absolute masterpiece. The story, the characters, the world, the gameplay... it’s absolutely amazing and I know that Nico will enjoy it. Not to mention that Yoko Shimomura helped compose some of the songs for the game, including the main theme. I recommend starting with the original game originally released on the Wii. While you can play through Xenoblade 2 without knowing the story to the original, there are aspects of that game that spoil the story to the first. Nico, please please please consider it. It’s definitely a game and a series you and all us Picky penguins will love.
Remember, Nico, it isn't called Yakuza in Japan, it's called Like A Dragon. Yakuza is a big part of the series, but Kiryu isn't necessarily going to always be one even between games.
That intro was fuccin PERFECT AND IM NOW READY TO C R Y Nishiki will always be one of my favorite characters in this series even if he’s evil The final battle is honestly painful for me Cuz we’re destroying a monster that used to be our best friend. A monster that we unintentionally had a hand in creating and I just,, it hurts after experiencing 0 But hey, that money rain is pretty cool That one hobo seemed real interested in those Finances from the Sky :) And despite its flaws I still love this game, same can be said for all the games in this series and I’m just so glad Nico introduced me to this gem of a series Now I’m gonna go cry and wait for Kiwami 2
That opening is gold lol!!! Thank you so much for continuing this series and I'm glad you still love the game despite the flaws and I enjoy every moments of reactions you had. Next one is much better so be sure to play it! As for the next LP game I'm sure you already got a lot of request, but I really hope one day you go back to some of the SMT games such as Devil Survivor 2 which you already played the first one, or SMT Nocturne, SMT Strange Journey Redux, or even check out the old Persona games like the first 2.
I think it's unlikely, but octopath traveler would be such a cool game for Nico to play? It's a bit grindy but playing it I can just imagine him and what voices he would do.
Here's my thoughts about this game: Personally, I had such a great time playing this game. But I will admit, I wasn't that big of a fan of the story. I wouldn't really say its BAD, but when compared to Yakuza 0, this game just doesn't compare. The pacing of the cutscenes just makes them feel bland and boring for me and the majority of the plot was just uninteresting. That being said, Nishiki as the villain was fantastic. Seeing Kiryu's best friend turn to the dark side was just so heartbreaking, especially when we had to take him down at the end. But my rating? I'd give it a 7.5/10.
Summed up my thoughts pretty perfectly. I definitely feel like some parts of the story were rushed as well. By the end of it, I couldn't care less about Jingu.
Totally agree. A lot of the characters felt forced into the story too, like the Florist and his little side story, or Date and his family drama. Doesn't ultimately add anything to the main plot, and felt like absolute padding to me.
And on this day, Kiryu found out that Santa isn't real. He's still sulking in the corner. Somebody bring brownies and nice cream. Edit: His next Bakamatai will have him weeping over a picture of 22 year old Kiryu happily sitting on Santa's lap, with Nishiki facepalming, Kashiwagi looking on in fond exasperation, and Kazama with the biggest shit-eating grin that you would ever see on a human being.
Obligatory recommendation of the trails series for the next play through. It's charm and personality is just such a perfect fit for you. Plus, I can see you digging the characters, the surprisingly deep lore, the crazy stories, the wonderful music etc,. Seriously, check it out.
I guess he could start with either Trails in the Sky FC or the first trails of cold steel. Cold Steel is a sequel but the start of a different arc, so I would argue it still works as a good introduction to the series. It may even be better, depending on preference. Trails in the sky feels a bit more sluggish in terms of pacing to me whereas Steel is a little bit better. Whatever he would pick, he would still be playing a great game. I would also recommend playing the PC ports as there are clearly superior.
And so yakuza kiwami ends Kiryu faced many hardships but he can finally live in in peace... for a year. Kiryus life is a series of scattered moments that come and fly away, he doesnt have to do the things he does but he does them for faith that he has in humanity, he will never stop his battle for the dream, the dream to find the way of life.
Disgaea I really think you would enjoy it's a perfect series for this channel, the series has so much humor and has the voice work of many famous VAs like Troy Baker, Patrick Seitz, Laura Baily and more in the later games, It's also been on as many polls as Mother 3 so it's obvious you wanna play it.
Yamerooooo! ;-; Uuuuuugh I hate what happens, but it's a good finale regardless. Kinda sucks looking back at 0, because, with the exception of kiryu, majima, makoto, and kashiwagi, by the end of kiwami, most of the main characters who appeared in both games are dead or jailed. Rip. Anyway, another amazing lp as always nico. I don't mind whatever the next lp is, since I'll watch it regardless. *If you would play kiwami 2 when it releases next month that would be cool beans*
Xenoblade Chronicles or MOTHER 3 are highly anticipated, even for me. I really hope is one of those games, But, I love surprises, and if you want to choose something obscure or something no one is expecting, can fit with the channel and something relaxing that doesn't need a lot of editing, I can suggest something: Hotel Dusk: Room 215 A point and click adventure game for the Nintendo DS, a really intriguing gritty detective story, rotoscope animation for the characters, and unique puzzles. Professor Layton could also be a good choice as well.
Maybe you should check out more of the To the Moon series next. It’s been years since you played that game, and since then they put out two free DLC stories as well as two sequels (A Bird Story and Finding Paradise) with another game in development. There’s even gonna be an ANIME FILM ADAPTATION of the first game. It’s honestly one of my favorite series, so I’d love for you to go back to it.
Really wish Nico would play the Trails in the Sky series. That game has an absurd amount of characters that have all kinds of varied personalities, and the entire game is unvoiced;it's pretty much perfect for the kind of Let's play that Nico does
Mother 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles 1 are both fantastic games I'd love to see you play, as well as possibly Kid Icarus:Uprising sometime in the future since thats always been one of my personal favorites.
I agree with pretty much all of them (Mother 3 would be lowest with Xenoblade Chronicles at the highest). Kid Icarus Uprising would also be a nice short game.
Long ago in distant land, I Akira Nishkiyama, before unleashed an unspeakable killing hiatus! But my bro Kazuma Kiryu wielding The Dragon of Dojima stepped forth to get wasted with me, before we could hangout next time, I killed old man Dojima and bro decide to take the blame, where my doing is law! Now the fool returning 10 years later into the future and undo the killing that is Nishikiyama.
*Play Finding Paradise, I am begging you Nico, our lord and savior.* Also, after Kazama's death, I was pretty sure Nishiki would die too. This game alternative title is "Everyone Who You Ever Cared About Are Dead Simulator", didn't you know? But man, even watching it the second time, my soul is still being ripped apart... *cries in japanese*
One last fun music fact: Nishiki's awesome theme music is called "For Who's Sake", and he had a remixed version in Yakuza 0 when you fought him as Majima, called "For Buddy". The English is a little wonky, as usual, but the titles are most likely referring to Nishiki's shift in character - In Yakuza Zero, Nishiki was fighting to protect his bro at any cost, hence "For Buddy", but here in Kiwami, he's long forgotten what he's actually even fighting for, he's just lashing out aimlessly, having lost touch with the things that gave his life purpose, hence "For Who's Sake" The music itself reflects his personality shift pretty well too - "For Buddy" is this awesome, funky techno track, with just a hint of seriousness in it, because even though he could be pretty goofy at times, Nishiki was doing his best to make it clear that he was never just Kiryu's comic relief best bro. However, in "For Who's Sake" that funky, bouncy feeling is completely drained out, leaving us with a very dramatic, melancholic song. It feels intense, but also cold, reflecting Nishiki's personality at the end very well, I think.
48:38 Nico remember this guy, he doesn't have the right face ( even though he could've with this being a remake but it just didn't happen for some reason) but just keep this homeless man and those clothes and the explosion somewhere in your mind for the future.
I CALLED THE F***ING INTRO! THANK YOU! As for the next game, I still highly recommend the Professor Layton series. They're fun puzzle games with good stories and you'll probably get some new voices because literally everyone is British.
I was playing this alongside your Yakuza 0 playthrough. The Nishiki moments tore my heart because of 0. Kiryu can't catch a break, everyone he lived for died in this power struggle, hearing that he didn't mind going to jail just left me in tears. This game just marks the start of his journey in becoming the Ultimate Daddy. Not just Haruka's, but all of Japan. I implore you to play all Yakuza titles, even the Dead Souls Spinoff which has mixed reviews, because even the worst entry of the franchise is a ride you must experience. Not many series can say this
You basically hit the nail on the head with Nishiki's anti-climatic demise. I thought he'd do the same thing to be honest. I also wished during the fight, they included flashbacks of Kiryu and Nishiki's bro moments in Yakuza Zero, it would've felt more powerful and emotional for the player to be directly reminded about the years of friendship between the two while having to take him down. I assume the devs wouldn't include that for the sake of those who never played Zero. Speaking more on that, I truly am grateful that my first experience with this franchise was through Zero. If I went through Yakuza 1 first, then Zero, I wouldn't have care for all the characters who died *nearly* as much as I do now, especially Nishiki. Though, like you said, I do wish he was present more throughout the main story, I would have loved to see his methods of leading his men (post-flashbacks), or even to see if he made any conniving/contingency plans in advance against people like Terada and Jingu in case they turned on him.
59:08 Throughout this playthrough, in regards to changing details about the story to make it better, that's what led me to believe that one of the reasons why the devs made Yakuza Zero was because that was their way of "redoing" the first game. The plotlines and set pieces of both games are very similar (Kiryu wrongly accused of murder, a girl/woman being worth billions of yen because of who/what they're connected to, a drive-by shooting section on a highway while protecting the important girl/woman inside the car, etc.). The main difference of the two being that the pacing in Zero was much better and more consistent than Kiwami/1, and thanks to Zero's game length, newly-introduced characters were fleshed out enough so that whenever anything bad happened to them, it was impactful for the player (i.e Nishitani's and Awano's deaths come to mind). Speaking of characters from Zero, I do hope Makoto makes an appearance in a future Yakuza game, considering the big impact she had on Majima. I assume since Zero was developed after most of the Yakuza games came out, our only hope of ever seeing her again will probably be in Yakuza 6.
still haven't seen the whole thing, but now I can see why Nico didn't get to publish the episode yesterday. seems like I won't be running out of my dose of cuteness any time soon
It seems like most people want Mother 3. Here I am waiting for the Layton and Ace Attorney cross over even though he already said it would be a while if he's even going to play it at all. T.T
Lionaxel Fyreta I see a lot of recommendation for the next let's play. Mother 3, Xenoblade Chronicles, Stein;Gates 0 and many other interesting one (honestly I can't remember most of it there are so many games!!!). And I'll be honest, I can't choose XP
Nico said that he wanted a break from the Ace Attorney series when he completed _Spirit of Justice._ Unfortunately, that includes Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright. Mother 3 is overdue for an LP, and Xenoblade Chronicles is legitimately a fantastic game (obviously biased here XD). Really, as long as Nico chooses what he yearns to play the most, the LP he produces will be a gem. ^^"
I mentioned that in the original comment. But yeah, I agree. No matter what he chooses, it will be good. I'd love to see him do the Layton series, though I dunno how good of an LP they'd make.
Aside from wanting to see Nico play *Majora's Mask* after Ocarina of Time (which I think is pretty likely considering how EVERY SINGLE comments section on the Zelda LP is drowning in it). I'll throw my weight behind what is probably a very unlikely choice by Nico, namely *Professor* *Layton* *and* *the* *Curious* *Village.* I think Professor Layton is a great fit for series that Nico does, with the combination of gameplay, story and many re-occuring characters to voice. Also, since it's essentially a visual novel with puzzle aspects it won't require a bunch of grinding since I think Nico is getting burned out playing many of these super long action-adventure/RPGs back-to-back.
God, Jingu is such a terrible villain, I hate him and his stupid Frank Sawhit forehead mole. In fact, I’d go as far as to say he’s the worst villain in the series. I still love this game and the original despite their flaws, but his character is by far the most dated aspect of these two games in particular. You can tell he was a stand-in political caricature from 2005. Not only is he introduced way too late leaving minimal time for development and a crap ton of exposition, he monologues like a typical bad guy from a Shōnen anime and even has a ridiculously cheesy laugh. On top of that, his motives and plans were so extremely over the top and cartoonishly evil that I had a lot of trouble taking him seriously. I have no idea why they thought he would be intimidating in the slightest. As if all of this wasn’t bad enough, the fight to get to him against the MIA agents and the boss fight itself is a complete clusterfuck of archaic game design and absurd difficulty spikes. He doesn’t even have the common courtesy to face you one on one and uses adds like a coward. Thankfully he doesn’t overstay his welcome and goes out in the most fittingly undignified way possible. TL;DR Jingu sucks and I hate him
Trouble Maker Every game has flaws, and overall it is a good game. Just the fact that it is a remastered of the original some flaws are understandable considering that it was their first game in the series
Hey Nico. I think Mother 3 would be a perfect game for you to lets’ play next. It’s a charming, funny game with a very meaningful, touching story, and it’s a pretty short RPG. It's fixes a lot of the problems you had with Earthbound and then some, it's a lot more of an interactive and story driven game than it's predeccessor. I think you could probably finish it within a month, just in time for Kiwami 2 if you wanna play that at launch. Either way though, I look forward to seeing whatever game you LP next. Stay classy!
Same. I personally never played it myself but I know lots of people have been wanting Nico to play it for the longest time so I think its about time Nico gets to it. Besides, I'm curious to see what's so great about it!
Seconding this, I'd like to see Nico close the second half he started with EarthBound. Mother 3 is more character and plot focused than EarthBound so I think he'd enjoy it more too.
When I think about it, the reason why Yakuza Kiwani was much shorter than Yakuza 0 is because you control mostly one characters side quest instead of two like Yakuza 0
Hey Nico, I think Steins;Gate 0 would be a wonderful addition to your library of gaming! With the anime currently running, I'm sure a lot of new Picky Penguins would join you in your quest of time travel. Also, I have a personal favorite of mine called Chaos;Child (an installment of the Science Adventure series which Steins;Gate also belongs to) that you could maybe check out in the future. It's a VN with a very interesting story which was many, many twists to offer. Thank you for Yakuza Kiwami btw, it's been a great ride!
Dylan Delong Hmm, I guess you're right lol I mean, Chaos;Head isn't necessary, but it does help understand some little things about Chaos;Child. I failed to mention C;H simply because there isn't a very goodway of experiencing it in English. I mean, the fan translated version will do, but...
Yes, I really would love to see Nico LP Chaos;Child someday, but that would probably have to be quite a while after he does Steins;Gate 0. Wonder what Nico would think of C;C to be honest, feel like he would be a bit iffy on the Delusion Triggers, because their sometimes fanservicy content, though it really is a brilliant way of reflecting Takuru´s state of mind and warped world views. But I think Nico would enjoy it a lot, in all its sad, terrifying and long glory. I personally rate it above Steins;Gate in quite a few areas, which surprised me greatly. It´s really fucking good, Nico, and definitely something to consider for a future Let´s Play!
TWO HOURS FINALE?! Hell yes! And I feel ready! I am sitting here, laid back in couch, a glass of whine, dark chocolate, a cat leaning next to me. .... My body is ready. . My body is ready for KIRYU-CHAN! Take off your shirt for me daddy, take off your shirt.
Mother 3 would be a great accompaniment to OoT as it finishes up! It and/or Devil Survivor 2 have been a long time coming I feel. Octopath Traveler also sounds like a good recent game to try out!!
Man, I finished Yakuza 6 just as Nico finished this game. And boy, it's a real feels fest seeing where all of my characters began, some Nico hasn't even met yet. I can't wait to see Nico continue his journey into Yakuza and see just where the hell this story goes. And ah yes. The good ol' Millennium Tower, seeing you explode is always fun.
Time for the final showdown. Frustration, tears, smiles. One thing I do like is that now you have way more context to Kiryu and Nishiki's friendship because of 0, so it hurts just a little bit more. Something fun: since there are more games in the series, you get to watch characters grow up and change over time. So now you have something to look forward to even more in the future games. Now for some Yakuza lore. The Omi Alliance is only "bad" because it's a rival to the Tojo Clan. The Omi Alliance rules the western side of Japan. Tojo rules the east. With the two of them there it's a struggle for absolute dominance. Still though... Tojo aren't "good" either. Pretty much all of Kiryu's opponents from both Yakuza 0 and Kiwami were from the Tojo clan. Majima mostly dealt with Omi because Osaka is Omi territory. Of course the meddling they do with each other has far-reaching consequences. Japanese lesson: "To" means "East". "Tokyo" means "Eastern Capital (kyo)". Kyoto means the same thing "Capital of the East". At one time Kyoto was the capital of Japan before the Emperor's seat was moved to Tokyo. Omi was a the name of an old section of Western Japan. So instantly Japanese players can pick up on where the Yakuza clans are located. You did not have the tiger drop in Yakuza 0. You had an iron fist counter which was useless and drained all your heat, and also a grab counter which was pretty broken instead. The two final fights here I have a problem with gameplay-wise. In the original, those MIA Colonel guards didn't revive themselves. You had to take care of them and then focus on Jingu. But here they do, and they become a tedious nuisance especially on later difficulties. I really think they turned up the difficulty for this fight in general. And then Nishiki's fight, while emotional, throws you a HUGE curveball if you haven't been leveling up Majima Everywhere (because it's optional) to get the Kiwami heat move. The only way out of it is to use a weapon heat move, but usually you're too stunned by the fact you need an SSS Majima Everywhere rank to do a kiwami heat move on Nishiki. Kiwami is honestly just a cheap thing they threw together while developing 0. Hell, even in the new engine they used for 6 and Kiwami 2, they still used animations and whatnot from the FIRST game. The series likes to recycle. I don't think this is a bad thing, it keeps the budget down and the releases frequent. Kiwami 2 has a little more work thrown into it. One month til Yakuza Kiwami 2!
Great game, great lp and hopefully a soon-to-be great series. Can't wait to see you're yakuza kiwami 2 lp. It's in the dragon engine so you can expect some serious changes.
It's been a wild ride, everyone. See you all in Kiwami 2... On that note, for the next game for you to LP Nico, I'd like to suggest Mother 3. I've been requesting it again and again for about around two years maximum. But that would be the best time to do it, since I'll be going away to college this September, and I may not be able to watch your videos as consistently, and make as much fanart as I have this past while. It really would mean so much to me if you played Mother 3. Regardless of me going away for school, I think a lot of people would agree that it's well overdue. Either way, thank you so much for the experiences you've given me, Nico. No matter where my path leads, I'll always remember how much you've changed my life for the better. Thank you, NicoB. Please, stay classy.
Chessmaster Omeyrolx™ ITS BEEN 10 THOUSAND YEARS!!!!! Xenoblade is cool(i mean im new to the series and it look like Crisis core..... which is ANOTHER LP i want Nico to do) But Mother 3 however WE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS DOUCHEBAG!!!!
I like how knowledgeable you've gotten Nico, the thing at 1:07:00 is indeed for during disc installs for the PS3 Yakuza games (Yakuza 0 was also on PS3)
THIS WAS A WILD RIDE FROM START TO FINISH. I'm so sad to see it go, but I'm glad it happened. Thanks for introducing me to the Yakuza series, Nico! I'm here to stay!
Nico has fully embraced the weeb that rest inside of him Now Nico... keep pushing your limits... and attain true weeb power Anyways, now that your done with this game I feel that your next LP should be Mother 3. It’s an amazing game and it’s been a while since you considered it for an LP. But no matter what you choose I’ll probably be down for it.
Since I've seen most people wanting mother 3 it will probably be the outcome, but Kid Icarus Uprising or (my personally favourite and yet probably most unknown game of the past) Custom Robo Arena would also be very welcomed by me.
My uncle works at Nintendo and he says that they are waiting for Nico to finish a Mother 3 let's play, they cannot announce a localization until that is done.
@droodle Really? My Aunt works at Nintendo too! Apparently, Simon Belmont, Crash bandicoot, Spyro, Geno, Sora, King k. Rool, Spring man, Rex and Pyra, and Goku will all be playable fighters in the new Smash! Well, according to my Aunt anyway.
I do hope Xenoblade is next. I think there’s enough demand from the penguins to warrant it as the next LP. It would be a more story heavy game to go along with the gameplay focused Zelda.
Reno KyrieliumGodOfVoid I do think the next LP will be either Xenoblade or Mother 3. Or Nico could surprise us. We never know. But either one I’ll be happy with.
Hey, Nico! Just wanna say this was a great let’s play. For the next LP, would it be possible to play Mother 3? It was on the poll back then with Ni No Kuni so I know you’ve at least considered it
Now that this series is over, I hope NicoB plays Yakuza Kiwami 2. Cause God damn! The Dragon engine from Yakuza 6 makes Yakuza 2 look mother trucking magnificent!
Jingu really doesn't deliver as a villain for me... We learn about him way too late, we have no emotional investment in him, he's clearly a cardboard pancake when it comes to character, and his laugh is god damn ridiculous. Not to mention the fact he spends a large amount of time delivering exposition and gloating about his motives when it'd be way easier for him to just shoot the main characters and win, but apparently he just loves the sound of his own voice.
Thank you guys for joining me on another wonderful journey through the world of Yakuza! While this game had it's flaws, it was still a delight to play and experience. Let me know what you want me to play next!
Also, that post-game is both the best and the worst thing ever.
Mother 3 please!
NicoB
That beginning tho
NicoB Mother 3!
that intro killed me hahaha, this is going to be an epic finale
Either Finding Paradise or The Wolf Among Us would be fine with me :)
Jingu, accused of illegal possesion of firearms, yells "You have no proof!" while holding a gun. His agents then open fire on the police helicopter
...yeah, no proof, none at all
Something that its really heartbreaking in this game for me is that this story started with just four friends drinking and having a good time, and in the end Kiryu is the only one left...., how can your life get fucked that hard like nothing?
SeekerDanS
Looking at your profile pic made realize what next lp I would like to see :P
"how can your life get fucked that hard like nothing?" Easy, be in a dangerous criminal organization
His theme doesn’t have to do with anything. In Ishin his theme is called “for your sake” yet it has nothing to do with Ryoma.
Dragon of Dadashov I can't argue about ishin because it's in japanese but there is probably a reason that it makes sense and even if there isn't, it doesn't change the fact it comes from the spin off, not the main games
Well... He ran from becoming the fourth Chairman and screwed Daigo over, as he admits in Yakuza 6. So not exactly learned yet.
*Yumi and Nishiki die*
Nico: No D:
*Nico has to play karaoke in order to appease God Haruka*
Nico: *NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*
Nishiki's boss fight theme is called "For who's sake?" Such a great piece of music if you ask me...
And the boss fight itself just makes me want to drop into tears. ;(
😭 *Who cut these onions?!?*
(I'm not crying, it's just the onions)
#Wheresmybro
Some Yakuza is right next to me doing the Essence of Onion Cutting
It's one of the best boss fights in the series imo.
Oh well!
Yeah. Its so tragic......
- Cover for Nishiki
> Be an ass and leave
I think Jingu would have still been a murderous asshole, but then again, Yumi wouldn't be in the position of having kids with him, so who knows?
It will applied to Kiryu as well in the future mainly due to his retirement from becoming a chairman.
“It’s raining yen, hallelujah!” - Nicob, 2018
Damn, this lp felt much quicker than Yakuza 0, heck i still haven't even been able to keep up with all the episodes, oh and also NISSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHIIIIIKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! ;_;
Same man, same. *proceeds to cry in corner*
It's a much shorter game with a narrower focus. Kiwami 2 will be longer though.
It’s a remake of a game that’s over a decade old, so naturally it’s much lighter on content
*hugs you all and cries* happy thoughts guys they can rest easy
6 is pretty goddamn fun though. It has a lack of content but I think it's still around the same amount as Kiwami. Maybe a little longer. Also has one of my favourite cities in the series.
The Jingu bossfight is also a great example of how this game has aged, and how other Yakuza games do bossfights much better. Nevertheless, I really hope you enjoyed this game Nico, we certainly did and are looking forward to more of Majima's and Kiryu's shenanigans along with your hilarious commentary. And let's not forget our new member, the not-daughteru Haruka!
Yeah i can totally see. I cant imagine how painful it must have been on the PS2.
DetectiveSpiritOfBobbyFulbrightGamer
It was actually easier on the PS2. The MIA guys dont stand back up after they're beaten once, and the PS2 game doesnt have the "kneeling down in pain" animations when you get shot or stabbed, so the MIA guys wont stunlock you to death
That's really interesting! I did not know that, actually.
Surprising how the og Jingu boss feels less aged than the newer version
Jingu reminds me a LOT of Shido from Persona 5 to be honest.
1. He's a corrupted politician and hopes to gain more power.
2. He would sacrifice his own Child and Lover just to get what he so desires.
3. The way he tricks Nishiki reminds me a lot of how Shido tricked Akechi in P5. Also, may I point out how ridiculous Jingu's evil laugh is?
Same, when I played Persona 5 and interacted with Shido I had Jingu flasbacks. How can someone be such a horrible human being?
2 things: Money and Power.
#JinguisBingu
Jingu's evil laugh might rival Tidus' laugh
Oh my god he just accepted the 24-hour Cinderella XD
I love this intro and this LP, what a ride! I'm hoping Miitopia could be on the list of possible LPs!
That would actually be a perfect LP for this channel. I wonder who would be the Dark Lord?
Alas poor Kazuma Kiryu as he would've hoped as soon he got back from prison that things would go back from the old days....
After his release things changed, many of the people he loved had lost their lives and then there was Nishiki....
Even though he had saved Nishikiyama from the bars of prison, life dealt him a bad hand as tragedy after tragedy struck the man. It broke him and reformed him into a man willing to overcome any obstacle at any means to get at the top.
Thus is the final battle between the Mighty Dragon and the Persistent Koi.
Edit: wow how did I mess up that up having two koi's.
did you mean the mighty dragon? i don't think kiryu was a koi
thanks for pointing that out.
no worries :P
"What is Nico gonna do next?"
Kiryu: "I can go wherever I want and do whatever I want to do."
Interesting fact for you, Nico, the song that plays during the fight with Nishikiyama is called "For Who's Sake?"
In Yakuza 0, when Majima fights Nishiki, the song that plays is called "For Buddy"
Even the song titles are trying to invoke feels.
Let's start a petition to get Nico to actually learn the entire lyrics to 24-Hour Cinderella so he can actually sing along and not just make noises... but anyway, that aside that's a really great intro. Kinda sad to see the game go, but hey - we still got 5 games left not counting Dead Souls and Ishin.
also not counting a certain yakuza-tangential game about punching people so hard their heads explode.
And Kenzan.
I can't fucking wait for Kiwami 2. Especially your playthrough of it. That game is amazing, and I going from this to that will be such a massive leap.
OmegaMetroid93 Less than a month till it drops in the west! I'm fucking hyped.
Kartik Ayysola
Even then, it's still nowhere near as good as the combat in Kiwami 1. Even combat in OGkuza 2 was better
"I am the fourth chairman of the Council of Voices"
I hope Nico weaves this moment in somehow into that show..
DAME DANE DAME YO DAM MEH YAM ME OHHH....
*orders another drink*
48:39 "What is this? Finance from the Sky. A Sky Finance."
Everyone: why the late upload nico?
Nico: *That porn card game Is addicting*
SBFH01 ...Well I mean you aren't wrong.
Best "Now back to" so far!😂
SUNAO NI I LOVE YOU TODOKE YO WO...
I like that someone suggested this title last episode and Nico actually accepted that idea. Really feels like he acknowledges his community unlike other RUclipsrs.
ALSO PROFESSOR LAYTON WHEN NICO WE KNOW YOU'LL LIKE IT
YES! Nico should definitely play Professor Layton.
It is time for everyone’s favorite segment: *Xeno tries to get Nico to play Xenoblade Chronicles!*
Ok, yes it’s long, and Nico will definitely not be done with it in time for Kiwami 2.
I conquer.
Look at my comments from the past videos, until now I Still want Nico to start with the puyo series.
As a Xeno Fan do you know about XenoGears and XenoSaga
PkJoey9000 Yes, I do know of both of those. I have yet to play/watch them, but it’s definitely on my list.
Well guess his request was fulfilled then, hehehe
That intro of Nico singing was amazing, I love it.
Remember, Nico, it isn't called Yakuza in Japan, it's called Like A Dragon. Yakuza is a big part of the series, but Kiryu isn't necessarily going to always be one even between games.
Wow, both Shenpai and Nico upload a Yakuza video today!? There is some other force at work here..
Max My Dog I gasped when I saw Shenpai’s video thumbnail of Yakuza
RIP to all those characters we got to know in Yakuza 0, only to die in this game, you will be missed very much.
That intro was fuccin PERFECT AND IM NOW READY TO C R Y
Nishiki will always be one of my favorite characters in this series even if he’s evil
The final battle is honestly painful for me
Cuz we’re destroying a monster that used to be our best friend. A monster that we unintentionally had a hand in creating and I just,, it hurts after experiencing 0
But hey, that money rain is pretty cool
That one hobo seemed real interested in those Finances from the Sky :)
And despite its flaws I still love this game, same can be said for all the games in this series and I’m just so glad Nico introduced me to this gem of a series
Now I’m gonna go cry and wait for Kiwami 2
"That one hobo seemed real interested in those Finances from the Sky" Nice one.
What made the fight with Nishiki more painful was how the game cut to flashbacks from before and/or during Nishiki's downfall.
Ha! I see what you did there.
Amaterasu Okami I’d add SMT IV to that list as well
I think it's unlikely, but octopath traveler would be such a cool game for Nico to play? It's a bit grindy but playing it I can just imagine him and what voices he would do.
Now that he finally adopted haruka he finally is conically Daddy kiryu.
Awesomeness11 And then he becomes ULTIMATE DADDY in Yakuza 3.
Here's my thoughts about this game:
Personally, I had such a great time playing this game.
It honestly feels like a DLC for 0 to me. A very good DLC, but a DLC.
Kartik Ayysola i think it is dlc as we got it for $30, too bad japan got full price in their currency.
#Toomuchdaddy
"HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW" - Jingu
Top 10 worst anime laugh
*Nico, while doing Haruka's sidequests:* "Oh my god! AAAAAAH! SO CUTE!" Honsetly? Same. She's so smol and precious.
Yamerooooo! ;-;
Uuuuuugh I hate what happens, but it's a good finale regardless.
SBFH01 glad makoto isnt jailed or was killed.
Yeah. Literally almost everyone! :(
SBFH01 you forgot that Daigo and Ryuji haven't shown up yet
Best Yakuza "Now back to".
Xenoblade Chronicles or MOTHER 3 are highly anticipated, even for me. I really hope is one of those games,
But, I love surprises, and if you want to choose something obscure or something no one is expecting, can fit with the channel and something relaxing that doesn't need a lot of editing, I can suggest something:
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
A point and click adventure game for the Nintendo DS, a really intriguing gritty detective story, rotoscope animation for the characters, and unique puzzles.
Professor Layton could also be a good choice as well.
if you're playing mother 3 next don't change the fucking names!
Christopher Park ....wait a minute isnt Nishiki dead?
*plot twist the story teller is Majima XD*
REALLY looking forward to Kiwami 2! This was another awesome LP Nico!
*Play Finding Paradise, I am begging you Nico, our lord and savior.*
Also, after Kazama's death, I was pretty sure Nishiki would die too. This game alternative title is "Everyone Who You Ever Cared About Are Dead Simulator", didn't you know?
But man, even watching it the second time, my soul is still being ripped apart... *cries in japanese*
One last fun music fact:
Nishiki's awesome theme music is called "For Who's Sake", and he had a remixed version in Yakuza 0 when you fought him as Majima, called "For Buddy".
The English is a little wonky, as usual, but the titles are most likely referring to Nishiki's shift in character - In Yakuza Zero, Nishiki was fighting to protect his bro at any cost, hence "For Buddy", but here in Kiwami, he's long forgotten what he's actually even fighting for, he's just lashing out aimlessly, having lost touch with the things that gave his life purpose, hence "For Who's Sake"
The music itself reflects his personality shift pretty well too - "For Buddy" is this awesome, funky techno track, with just a hint of seriousness in it, because even though he could be pretty goofy at times, Nishiki was doing his best to make it clear that he was never just Kiryu's comic relief best bro.
That day nicoB lost his mind after majima sang 24hour Cinderella over 20 times
I CALLED THE F***ING INTRO! THANK YOU!
As for the next game, I still highly recommend the Professor Layton series. They're fun puzzle games with good stories and you'll probably get some new voices because literally everyone is British.
You'll cry. You're gonna cry. You always cry. See? You're cryin'!
*starts crying animation*
I'm not crying, it's just that some pesky yakuza is right next to me doing the Essence of Cutting Onions
Really? You had to throw that? ...sniff...sniff...
The persistence of yours, I respect that
a lot of people forget that the Yakuza series is a low budget production. I understand why they couldn't change everything they wanted
"Come on, Nico! Give us Mother 3!"
"How about Yakuza 3 instead?"
Devil Survivor 2 is higher on my list ;w;
Thank you
mechashadow too soon
*Proceeds to burn comment section with a fire flower*
She's in Kiwami 2 during Majima's little adventure, but aside from that she isn't in any other game. Not even 6.
Ah that sucks, but at least we'll be seeing her again at all in the next game
still haven't seen the whole thing, but now I can see why Nico didn't get to publish the episode yesterday. seems like I won't be running out of my dose of cuteness any time soon
Lionaxel Fyreta I'd recommend playing the Professor Layton games
I mentioned that in the original comment. But yeah, I agree. No matter what he chooses, it will be good.
I'd love to see him do the Layton series, though I dunno how good of an LP they'd make.
i would like to have hyperdimension neptunia series over ace attorney honestly ^^
Aside from wanting to see Nico play *Majora's Mask* after Ocarina of Time (which I think is pretty likely considering how EVERY SINGLE comments section on the Zelda LP is drowning in it). I'll throw my weight behind what is probably a very unlikely choice by Nico, namely *Professor* *Layton* *and* *the* *Curious* *Village.*
I think Professor Layton is a great fit for series that Nico does, with the combination of gameplay, story and many re-occuring characters to voice. Also, since it's essentially a visual novel with puzzle aspects it won't require a bunch of grinding since I think Nico is getting burned out playing many of these super long action-adventure/RPGs back-to-back.
What a fitting “now back to...” change.
EDIT: geez, almost 2 hours!
Yeah, I'm not going through this in one sitting.
What i have learned so far: everyone (except our daddys) can die in this franchise. So please, Pocket Circuit Fighter, do not die!
Yusukebest waifu69 i bet he dies of old age in at least 6.
Yusukebest waifu69 Sorry to say, but unless Kiwami 2 brings him back for a substory, that's the last we'll ever see of that guy.
@@zachataxxii7126 If fucking Obatarian can survive till Kiwami 2, then so can Fighter. I bet he'll return for the Dragon Kart mini game in Yakuza 7.
TL;DR Jingu sucks and I hate him
Glad I'm not the only one who thought his evil laugh was ridiculous lol!
Yeah, this guy was so over-the-top that even Shido would tell him to kick it down a notch or twelve...
Flame of Udun But his evil laugh was amazing, how can you ever hate such a great laugh.
Flame of Udun Idk, there is a certain villain in 4 that I dislike a lot more. But yeah, Jingu is way down as well.
Not to mention, the fight against Jingu and the MIA wasnt even that hard in the PS2 version, but it was made unforgivingly hard in this version
Time to watch the finale! And with that comes the final question:
Did you guys like the game despite the flaws?
Trouble Maker Every game has flaws, and overall it is a good game. Just the fact that it is a remastered of the original some flaws are understandable considering that it was their first game in the series
Trouble Maker Yes indeed
Yeah, no doubt
Flaws?
I thought the final question was "What will he play next?"
The true tragedy of this is that we'll never get to see post-0 Nishiki and Majima interact.
That opening though! So beautiful!
*Starts chanting S;G 0*
Yakuza Kiwami, an extremely dramatic game...
Post Game: DAUGHTER SIMULATOR!
Yes pls :D
spiderfreak1011 It fixes lots of Earthbound's faults, so I think it would really be a great game for the next Let's Play.
I also agree with this Mother 3 defo fixes a lot of the problems with Earthbound and has a super engaging story and characters
NicoB finally gave in to Cinderella
Future;Bagel Isn't Chaos;Head the first one? Shouldn't he play that one before Chaos;Child?
Dylan Delong Hmm, I guess you're right lol
I mean, Chaos;Head isn't necessary, but it does help understand some little things about Chaos;Child.
Viktor Berggren Always glad to see another Chaos;Child lover around here!
Future;Bagel Our boy talking for the people dont talk much in the comments! Reminds me I really need to check out Chaos;Child
Ah yes, a fitting conclusion to the opening bit 😂
TWO HOURS FINALE?!
Hell yes! And I feel ready!
I am sitting here, laid back in couch, a glass of whine, dark chocolate, a cat leaning next to me.
.... My body is ready. .
My body is ready for KIRYU-CHAN!
Take off your shirt for me daddy, take off your shirt.
I can't believe you managed to go through that bit with the black coffee without mentioning crck coffee or godot :O
Mother 3 would be a great accompaniment to OoT as it finishes up! It and/or Devil Survivor 2 have been a long time coming I feel.
Octopath Traveler also sounds like a good recent game to try out!!
I'd love to see a Higurashi: When They Cry let's play. Even if it's only the first arc, I want to see Nico's reaction!
Absolutely no question what I want to see next, bring on Steins;Gate 0!
It’s the final countdown also poor kiryu at least he has majima XD
Xenoblade is cool(i mean im new to the series and it look like Crisis core..... which is ANOTHER LP i want Nico to do)
But Mother 3 however WE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS DOUCHEBAG!!!!
I like how knowledgeable you've gotten Nico, the thing at 1:07:00 is indeed for during disc installs for the PS3 Yakuza games (Yakuza 0 was also on PS3)
the way you were screaming at the end of the intro😂😂😂
THIS WAS A WILD RIDE FROM START TO FINISH.
I'm so sad to see it go, but I'm glad it happened. Thanks for introducing me to the Yakuza series, Nico! I'm here to stay!
Nico has fully embraced the weeb that rest inside of him
Now Nico... keep pushing your limits... and attain true weeb power
Anyways, now that your done with this game I feel that your next LP should be Mother 3. It’s an amazing game and it’s been a while since you considered it for an LP. But no matter what you choose I’ll probably be down for it.
Either that or Xenoblade sounds good. Although we should keep in mind that Nico nay want to start on the next Council of Voices. Edit: Nevermind.
Cap'nCinnamonBun I just wanna see nico cry while playing it.
I'm gonna need some popcorn for this. We got a long one today.
I thought the title said The Dragon and the Yaoi when I got the notification
Dammit Maya!
Get it to the top, NicoB!
See you next Yakuza game!
I do hope Xenoblade is next. I think there’s enough demand from the penguins to warrant it as the next LP. It would be a more story heavy game to go along with the gameplay focused Zelda.
*crosses fingers* Is it finally Reyn time?
Xenofangirl I’m really feeling it this time!
Ooh come on
We waited for months for Mother 3 ;_;
Reno KyrieliumGodOfVoid I do think the next LP will be either Xenoblade or Mother 3. Or Nico could surprise us. We never know. But either one I’ll be happy with.
Reno KyrieliumGodOfVoid Also, you said moths not months.
I never clicked faster on a yakuza video let's go guys!!!!!
CURB STOMP!!!!!!!!!
The struggle will end to night
His evil laugh may rival Tidus' laugh
Dub Tidus or Japanese Tidus?
silversmilegirl
Both
Hikari Gaijin
He should've followed Kiryu's example and should've never killed anyone
The one scene where Kiryu didn’t care if he went to jail because all of his friends were dead, oof that hit
