In a world that seems to be becoming more hateful, in this video, I explore the idea that it’s fine to disagree, you don’t need to be disagreeable.
I talk about how I’ve seen the world change and how I think that we can make it better.

Good topic James. It seems to me that social media has allowed people to become more rude and disagreeable. A lot of people would rather just block you rather than try to communicate. I agree, when people want to argue on fb, I try to just stay out of it.

Funny enough, I was having this conversation with someone just a few days ago.
So many people seem so stressed and ready to whip your head off if you look at them, let alone try and talk to them.
After the separation from my ex 8 years ago I decided I can go one of two ways. This time round I thought I'd show her that I don't need her and I'll put on a happy face and spread cheer and happiness everywhere I go. But since lockdown I've been finding this really difficult. There really isn't a lot of happiness in the world at the moment. So all I can do is just hold my head high and be happy and continue to spread my happiness 😊

At the end of the day, I think that you're better off making your world better by the way you go about things.
People will see, and then it's up to them if they do the same.
Funnily enough,I've just done another video that will expand on this. It'll be published later today.
I dontbthink were the only ones thinking about this.
      Thanks for your comment.

Yes, yes and yes! Exactly what me and my wife have been discussing recently!
We have also found that people have become so much angrier of late and quick to hit the keyboard to vent their hatred at other people.
Having our own channel, we've seen an uptake in nastier comments and from people posting things who obviously want a response just so they can get into an argument.
We now just delete and block those people now.
But definitely, its got much worse.

There used to be etiquette advice columns in newspapers. It seems to me that these days there is a dire absence of the rules of correct behavior. I think humility is the greatest virtue and could be the cure to all these egotistic antagonisms. I like life peaceful and happy and work to keep it that way by avoiding the trouble makers. Thanks for your video.

You're right. I'm all for the peaceful life too. It strikes me that we're a much less caring society even though we claim to be and I don't see it getting any better because it seems that people are more selfish than they were.

Great topic James - I personally think it's down to people being bombarded constantly with media 24/7 either though the tv - social media. Nine times out of 10 it's all negative news and opinionated. I no longer buy newspapers and very rarely follow the news on tv. I also haven't signed up for any social media accounts. I find just being polite with people while am on walk or in the pub just saying hello and stopping for a chat make me feel more upbeat. I would rather be remembered when I have left this earth as that nice guy not that bitter old negative angry type of guy.

    • @JamesMurphyYT
      @JamesMurphyYT  Месяц назад +1

I'm 100% with you on that. I've not bought a newspaper in years and I don't watch the news they're all agenda driven.
Just giving a smile to people was we go through our day makes the world just a little nicer.
Sadly today, many times, if you disagree with someone you're made to feel as though you've committed a crime and you can be vilified for it, and it's often those that class themselves as caring that are the worst culprits.
But rather than being evangelistic about it to others, I find that the easiest person to affect is me.
And if 'm being the best me I can be, it's easier to sleep at night knowing I've contributed something positive to the world that by being negative towards someone else in attempt to show my superioroty.

A celebrity just passed due to cancer. I wrote in the comments that I had it in 2003 and knew what she went going through. I am one of the lucky ones. A person replied that they were happy for me, etc. I replied, "Thank you." Just like yours. Yah** sent me an email that my answer had been rejected and deleted. Glad James was nice enough to let it through. Bless you Jonathan.

    Great teacher!!
I have had very nice people tell me that they save all their angst for the computer and then really vent their spleen. So, you are right. Looking people in the face makes it harder to be...honest? mean? truthful? Not sure exactly what maybe even being fearful of a punch in the lips but we use anonymous names online. We had a nice Uno game downstairs and then they started bringing alcohol and there were complaints about the noise. Kat and I quit. (We don't drink anyway.) We play the weirdest game of Scrabble every week (yes, in our rules, British spelling counts...we call it Shakespearean...and all Biblical words...thou doest understand?) and laugh and laugh. Sadly, we feel it has to be that way.
I am off of F**b**k just because it is an election year. Oi!
I drink hot green tea but for cold: peach tea, raspberry tea and watermelon tea are very refreshing with lots of ice. Chin-Chin. Let's keep smiling.

I've been known to have a rant on Facebook about lots of things, but one thing I've never done is aim it at an individual.
I just get it off my chest, and everything I say is in my name.
I'd use my names here were it not for the fact that I share it with the leader of LCD Soundsystem. Everytime I search RUclips for my name, his page comes up!

@@JamesMurphyYT I come up as an American Mixed-Martial artist. And I think, years ago, I was an American Footballer.
Biggest surprise, I belonged to a group on Faceb**k and the guy was honouring the late John Peterson of Beau Brummells' birthday (born in the Upper Peninsula, the picture he used was John and ME! (I'm in the third row now on G**gle Images). And I was once sent to a page with an article on local band SRC and, instead of a band photo, there was a picture of their last bassist (Richard Michael) and me at my apartment.
