Thanks for all the information you've given us. You have helped me turn from a ssf player in trade league into a slightly informed ssf trade league player who occasionally maybe once or twice trades maybe.
I watch poe 1 videos for theorycrafting and build information, poe2 videos arent relevant for these topics to me yet. POE2 interest is about basic mechanics and gameplay which is mostly all sourced from official channels and the community channels are usually just dubbing over or regurgitating them with commentary. If others are like me, this could be why poe2 content doesnt do well just yet for community content creators
Same for me, the official videos and the ZiggyD interviews are enough to keep me hyped. I used to click on other videos, but it was always "oh, the they are just retelling what I already saw".
Whenever my friends and i log in discord on the daily we all say Ohhhh Hideeho grab yourself a drink it is time for some "........" discussion depending on whatever we are talking about lol
Playing SSF this league has taught me a lot about crafting. It was such a hassle but I'm glad that stuck through it. Very fun and very rewarding. I do want to say that crafting is a bit too reliant on locking suffix/prefix and reforging/veiled orb. I was farming harvest & jun for a lot of the league. Also alt rolling sucks. I hate that.
Well all i do when craft is just buying frac gear, either reforge life or resistance until hit something good, finishing what lacking by bench and call it a day
Palstron, disclaimers actually do work. You talked me out of league starting warden, after the 20th time you warned about league starting warden in your league starter warden video 😄
16:55 I wish that POB could include contextual pop-ups. The most used one for this situation would probably be a pop up on opening the POB that you can put your disclaimers in. Users could dismiss it immediately and even check a box to not show that pop-up again, but if they share the POB and say it’s trash because XYZ problems and then someone else opens it up and sees the creator put in disclaimers about XYZ, that initial user claiming the POB is trash looks like a illiterate oaf. This function could have other purposes, too, but just implementing that very basic disclaimer pop-up option would be really impactful.
Dunno about others, but about the poe2 vids which i don't watch yet: i don't care yet I'm still trying to be somewhat fine in poe, barely getting to t16 maps, yesterday was the first time i reached third atlas skilltree (100 map bonusses compelted), so any further input about a game i cant even play atm would be totally wasted. I might go back and watch videos being made rn in a year or two if it does help me then, but I'm too busy with trying to understand poe to want to know about poe2. Hope that shit up there makes sense ^-^'
When I heard that both of you made poe2 content I was surprised cuz I did not know until today. Either I ignored it thinking it was one of tri’s videos I wanted to watch later and never saw again, or it never showed up in my feed anywhere to begin with. And I do watch sirgog regularly and sometimes palestron if I think the information is either interesting or worth it.
The coin flips real data vs fake data is a great discussion, especially in the context of talking about Catarina drops a few minutes before. Veiled orbs are very valuable right now, but dry streaks feel so bad. I think you could make a short video about - is Catarina farming right for you? If you run 100 Catarina, you can expect to see a dry streak at least this long, and also a hot streak of this many veiled orbs in a row. I think you could also apply that to all the boss farming and other strategies with significant jackpots (heist amulets being an extreme case). It's one thing to say expected number of runs to a great drop is 4, and another to translate for people that that means they *will* have dry streaks x runs long if they farm that strategy a lot
Regarding PoE2: I'm excited for it, but I have exactly zero interest in any videos on it until we actually have it and can play it. At that point, I'll start watching stuff.
i havent looked at poe2 yet just cause i dont want to have everything spoiled in advance, i was to enter the game and be surprised and have fun for a few months trying stuff out and understanding how it all works instead of power rushing to the endgame to minmax a build that i copied from someone else. Its like when you enter poe1 campaign for the first time, you take your time and its actually fun.
Gog is reliable. He releases in decent pace and also during "downtimes" of the league sometimes. So the engagement keeps up. The thumbnail is meme, not clicking on videos because of that.
I'd be more hyped for POE2 if I didn't feel I still had an overwhelming amount to learn about POE1. POE is a game where you have to put aside playing time to basically study it so if there's two POE's I'll never actually get time to play anything as I'll be too busy reading wikis, using 3rd party apps and watching guides. Content creators know all of POE already so it's great for them but the average player is still trying to get to 50% of that level of knowledge.
I for one stopped hyping up about games that are being released since sometimes when delays happen it leads to dissapointment, therefore I don't really look at content about a game that is not available to be played yet, and I will start consuming that once I can actually experience it myself, I feel like a lot of people might share this sentiment and it's the reason why POE hype videos underperform when compared to current game videos.
I think the low amount of views on poe 2 videos is more due to almost every creator in the scene making videos on the same information, it might not necessarily be lack of overlap between interest of the 2
There's honestly not much to talk about yet, so yeah... When there's a dribble of new info, there's 50 videos about it consisting mostly of speculation. I'm kind of in a "wait and see mode" and trying not to build any expectations -- positive or negative.
i personally don't watch any poe2 stuff. Main reason, i want to experience it. Watching too many video's without access to it, burns me out. My hype will happen closer to the time.
It's been a long time since hype delivered, too. I remember being amazed by new games 90% of the time back when each new thing also meant thinks like leaps in graphics etc. I can't think of any game in the past 10 years that lived up to the hype. You know, where a game is widely praised, then you check it out and think: "no wonder this game is so hyped--it's pretty fun." Maybe a Zelda game? Idk
I stopped playing after ritual and came back in tota and was stunned at the level of gear that would be listed at 10 divines, it was trash compared to what "10 exalts" would have purchased previously. I then farmed my first mirror ever in that same league. The game has changed a tememdous amount and the players who have a good amount of currency but aren't gigarich is now in the hundreds of divines range.
Ive started playing POE just 2 weeks ago along side some friends that are vets. Im not doing bad, Im farming T17's and have about 300 div to my name but trying to learn some stuff just feels impossible. Ive tried and watched videos on it but I can never seem to get past the basic use cases. Im fine with looking up how to do a craft but where I struggle is knowing why and when I should make a craft so I've just been trading for gear instead.
To clear up some misconception up the yt statistics might imply, its probably not entirely the topic of POE2 being an issue to the algorithm. Its Talkative Tri. I dont mean to be rude since i love what he does and appreciate the research and news channel. Its just his poncy intonation... hope thats not a swear word or something it is just something i personally have issues with and see alot of comments along the same lines. The most liked videos of his were when he was doing them while being sick. His voice sounded more stereotypical male and he got tons of compliments for those... so you can guess what might be the issue.
11:53 I think most content creators for POE completely underestimate just how complex POE is to MOST of its players. So, someone taking the time to make builds with detailed guides that does an enormous amount of handholding will always do OK (assuming the build is at least OK and can do most of the content) Not that everyone plays on Steam, but look at the steam global achievement numbers. Only 1/5th of players have the "reach level 60" achievement. Only 9% have the achievement "have a skill gem reach level 20."
I thnk that seems about right, especially for a free to play game. And I dont mean Path of Exiles difficulty. I think referencing Baldurs Gate 3 achievement numbers to put your numbers in context would help you understand.
Idk if it is the root cause, so apologies if youre already doing this, but with this sort of podcast content i reccomend getting the audio of both sides in orden to avoid discord not piskning up part of a sentenser.

Love Sirgog's content always very insightful analysis. Personally I play PoE 2 the day the beta releases, the sorceress. But being hyped for video games or pieces of entertainment in general is something that should be left to the kids It could be well not in a good state for months then "gamers are mad". qq As the the game is likely to wildly change before relaese or there's just no detials available I see no point in watching videos about it. Speculation on what could be and so on is IDK not really interesting to me. I guess Sirgog's audience is like me made in the last millenium, MINT background and more stoic about things and not having that much time as well.
To be fair, build guide videos are sometimes bloated to fuck, no editing, often no gameplay in them. Taking a pob and "ill figure it out later" is a cynical action that indeed comes to bite you in the ass, especially when a small but crucial detail gets missed
I'm sure I'll play Poe2 but I just cant get hyped this many months before, or even years by now. For expectations we've seen builds do all content on 1 div before while commetaters say they're only 1% better then glacial hammer which is why everyone plays those tier 0 builds. Surely then 2 div heavy strike can do ubers, 2 items infernal blow can do sanctum. A level 40 build can do Uber elder.
