@@Iceis_Phoenix Vinnie used to rip Mark to shreds before and after shows on the first VVI tour, saying he would fire him for singing so poorly. They hated each other almost from the beginning.
4:35 watch VV when Mark is talking. He looks so mad that Mark is actually talking instead of him and VV cuts him off. Wow. VV has been talking for 4 minutes and cant even let the other guy say a sentence.
Metalfan 86 ok....well that's good to know. thought maybe you were hating on his skills. but people need to remember when you join a band with someone name on it...just stfu and sing. vinnie is very calm and discussing and answering questions.
Vinnie tracking Mark was a lie though. Dana asked Mark to come to the studio and ended up having Mark sing some songs and realized that Mark was a better fit than Robert. (I don't know if it was Dana who called Vinnie or if Vinnie was there) but Vinnies first reaction to Mark was "oh he sounds like shit!". The dude was a time bomb who couldn't handle himself.
mrepicchickenman the only reason Mark got the gig wasn't cuz he sang better than Robert.....he looked more glam than Robert, people say Vinnie was all about the music but that just shows otherwise
He seems to hate talking about anything other than himself. Anytime he talks about a song, video, tour its all me. He never says we. He doesn't even try to act like it's a band, lol
The video for Boys are Gonna Rock looks like a comedy skit rather than an actual music video. Can't believe it actually got approved by a record company. Vinnie just ovderdoes everything to the point of being a satire of an 80s glam metal band. There is such a thing as going too nuts with a guitar and Vinnie Vincent is it.
Wow...the amount of disrespect shown to Vinnie on this board is insane. The guy comes across as calm, cool, and professional. Vinnie is a generational talent on guitar, and actually had his hands recorded for posterity while playing. He has a unique “double-picking” banjo style that is very unique. Give him the credit he deserves for rescuing Kiss from themselves too....Kiss STILL plays songs from the VV era, which speaks volumes about the quality of the songs he created.
Respect is something you have to earn and if you look at what Vinnie has done over the years it's not that big a surprise that people have little respect for him. - A Kiss show is a tightly rehearsed event, it HAS to be. So elongating his solos to ridiculous lengths so they were jeopardizing the Timing of those said shows is NOT going to make you any friends with both the band and the crew who are in charge of setting off the pyro and other special effects which are Kiss' bread and butter. - Dana Strum, in addition of being VVI's bass player , was the VVI's behind the scenes guy, he arranged the Contract with Chrysalis records, got Bobby Rock in the band and over saw the recording of that first album. Not nearly three years later in the interview for Kerrang magazine, Vinnie described Dana as being "A Hanger on who doesn't even play an instrument!" - Bobby Rock described recording the drum tracks for the fist VVI album as sheer hell, go here to read why. bobbyrock.wordpress.com/2016/01/08/welcome-to-hell-recording-drums-for-the-first-vinnie-vincent-invasion-album-part-1/ - When he popped up in 1996 at Kiss conventions, he was talking about a CD box set which would have rare outtakes and demos, the fans eagerly ordered theirs in advance. Vinnie took their money and ran with it. To this day, there never has been any box set and it won't be coming out anytime soon. - Around ten years ago Vinnie was arrested for domestic abuse and the police found several dead dogs on his property. - When he emerged at that convention in Nashville that wanted a Vinnie Vincent Invasion reunion concert. They didn't have much money, but they had volunteers, so the deal is, he gets 100% of the door, 100% of the merch and 100% of the VIP packages, but no money up front. He waited until he thought it was too late to cancel and then asked for a guarantee. They thought: 'okay, he hasn't changed, and if we say yes to this, there will be more nonsense', and then they cancelled. - In recent interviews he states that Mark Slaughter ruined the VVI, hold on, this is the guy who enabled the VVI to go on tour in the first place and without Mark, that fabled second album wouldn't have been recorded. Why should I show respect to such a complete and utter ASSHOLE?
@@RastaSaiyaman The box set scam is what makes me think there's truth to Paul Stanley's accusations that VV stole some equipment right after they hired him, and later sold a generic guitar to a KISS fan for more than it would cost in a store even though he didn't have permission to sell KISS merchandise. I honestly don't understand how his fans can go on defending him knowing what they know: It's one thing to enjoy the music he made a long time ago, it's another thing to excuse acts of theft, assault, animal cruelty, and narcissism.
@@Supertron1 Go and visit the official Vinnie Vincent website, you will find that it; s nothing more than a "Get your autographed Vinnie Vincent guitar here." The guitars them selves are the cheapest variant of Jackson's Randy Rhoads model which because he autographed them all of a sudden must cost five times as much.

If they were that great, record sales and concert attendance would've reflected it back then. It didn't. The band was dropped like hundreds of other going nowhere LA bands. Vinnie was a dime a dozen. Took a shot, not enough people liked his music.
Mark Slaughter talked about this period on "Three Sides of the Coin" podcast. Just after the Elm Street movie came out the band was often announced as Vinnie Vincent Invasion featuring Mark Slaughter, which must've pissed Vinnie off. He treated Mark like shit anyway.
what are you talking about, Whisper? VV is crazy and just accept it. he wrote some awesome songs but he is his own worst enemy. Vinnie proved that again in 2018 with his awkward cancelled concerts after promising his fans he has changed, blah blah blah
I like how Mark says in any industry you just gotta be yourself fresh off him lip syncing Roberts parts in Boys Are Gonna Rock video, as he sits with dyed blonde hair and sitting next to Vinnie wearing a wig 😂😂😂
@@lewhitey2544 ....TBH I liked him in Slaughter being himself. VV put Mark in a weird position having to be fake in the video and then being fake with the look etc lol. So in that way I dont blame Mark. And yes when he was himself doing his own songs it was way better 4 sure.
10:17 "I mean, this guy's hot. He discovered Randy Rhoads and Jack E. Lee." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what tools the MTV hosts usually were. It's JAKE E. Lee. Hey, Vinnie, let Mark talk a LITTLE.
I honestly think that Vincent is not making any more great music ..thank God we have those 2 amazing albums with top notch song writing and outrageous guitar playing better than nothing
Some people say that Yngwie's playing has no soul, which I tend to disagree with personally, but either way, Vinnie here, has him beat, hands down. He has to be the # 1, most soulless metal guitar player my ears have ever heard, and I've heard a lot. The guy is not even a great shredder, period. Just picks at a thousand miles per hour, hitting notes everywhere. I can understand why Mark and Dana got the hell away from the guy. Don't know exactly how long this solo was, but if it was 50 seconds, that was 45 seconds too long. Don't get me wrong, the SONGS are good, but the soloing....Anything Tim Kelly or Jeff Blando has played for the Slaughter band, is MILES better than anything I've heard from this girl.... I mean, guy...er, whatever.
I agree. First of all, I think Yngwie is one of the most melodic players on the planet, and with the best vibrato of all shredders. However, Vinnie Vincent was a "try to play fast as you can" type of guy. You can hear that he was even sloppy on most of his solos, and with no "meaning". Don't get me wrong... he plays guitar very well and has great songs, but he wasn't in the "reign of shredders" as others in the eighties (Yngwie, Gilbert, Becker, Macalpine, Vinnie Moore, etc.)-
mrepicchickenman Yeah Vinnie didn't like Mark, he wanted a Swedish singer (name escapes me) for Fleischman's replacement, he could sing more like Fleischman.
@@lrn_news9171 the swedish singer is Göran Edman, very amazing singer who actually DID record demo tracks with Vinnie. Lots of the tracks are out illegally (bootlegs and lo-fi quality digital format have been floating around the web for a long time). Find them and thank me later
As a Guitarist myself I enjoyed Vinnies unique playing style . But since his recent appearance back on the 80's rock circuit with the Kiss vault crap ( not a big Kiss fan ) . His hatred of Mark Slaughter is a bit stupid after all these years and his insults come off as jealousy imo . Slaughter the band was a better band overall and their run was much longer then VVI band was . So stop insulting Marks vocal abilities he did help with VVI success as much as Vin's playing ...
When Vinnie chose to let Mark and Dana go and then heard they would continue making music without him, i think he thought they would fail. Seeing them succeed probably drove him into denial and resulted in him coming up with the story of how Mark and Dana went behind his back and stole his record deal. The reason their label let Vinnie go is because he burned through the entire recording budget doing dozens of takes and re-recordings (this was also the reason his third album never materialized).
He was definitely jealous, but I can understand how frustrating that situation must of been. He hires these guys, the band doesn't take off as expected and then the guys he hired gets his record deal have a huge hit album.
@@Supertron1 The reason his 3rd album didn't materialized was because he was trying to land a better contract with another label and they found out about it.

Vinnie couldn't handle not being the center of attention at all times. Vinnie once called Mark a talentless piece of shit. Well we all saw how their careers went, Mark & Dana formed one of the great bands from that era. Vinnie drifted to nowhere.
Well whatever the issue is between Mark and vinnie in the past, I guess there's a reason why vvi broke up. If it vvi didn't broke up, there wouldn't be no slaughter with stickittoya I guess it's great that slaughter was formed. They have phenomenal success with their first 2 album
I've actually never heard anything from VVI, despite growing up in the 80s, probably due to no internet, and no friends who owned VVI albums. Despite thinking this song was going to be bad, it's not... I won't be buying it off of iTunes, but it's its OK.

4:35 watch VV when Mark is talking. He looks so mad that Mark is actually talking instead of him and VV cuts him off. Wow. VV has been talking for 4 minutes and cant even let the other guy say a sentence.
cause slaughter is a. bafoon...he was on that metal show and mark came off way worse of a prick and a dumbass then vinnie.
Vinnie supposedly hated Mark and never wanted him in the band and always treated him like shit. Mark has spoken about it.
I blame the interviewer by not directing some of his questions towards Mark which kinds sucks
10:27 look at Vinnie's expression when the interviewer calls Dana Strum a great songwriter and producer
Very true 😃
He seems to hate talking about anything other than himself. Anytime he talks about a song, video, tour its all me. He never says we. He doesn't even try to act like it's a band, lol
Vinnie is like cockeyed faced 😬…. Mark knows what’s up and lowers his head. Hahah. Then tries to downplay…. Hahahahha….
And the first time Mark gets to speak Vinnie totally cuts him off and takes over the conversation
Great interview...still have the first album by V V I. I hope he comes out someday to meet his fans and release new material.
Vinnie is a female now.
He did come out...literally...now a female
The video for Boys are Gonna Rock looks like a comedy skit rather than an actual music video. Can't believe it actually got approved by a record company. Vinnie just ovderdoes everything to the point of being a satire of an 80s glam metal band. There is such a thing as going too nuts with a guitar and Vinnie Vincent is it.
Lol. Have some fun sourpuss.
Listen to some later interviews with Vinnie. It’s like a rambling old lady complaining about the cost of doctor visit co-pays and prescription drugs…
Nitro - Frieght Train : Hold my Beer and My Four neck Guitar.
@@kidwaryodproduction Yeah the 4 neck was pretty satirical.
I went to a VVI show once and Vinnie opened the show with a guitar solo! An absolute nut job but great player and song writer
"Oh so you wanna do another solo, huh....well not here, pal!"😎🤘🎶
slaughter is like am i even hear lol.
Lonnie Bean here*
WTF! WOW!!!! I Remember this! Thanks!
Love Vinnie!!...he and Brent Muscat are identical twins lol
Oh, you know Brent, great! I've already thought about this. Brent nowadays looks like Vinnie did in his twenties/thirties. Love them both
5:59 omg, this must be Brent
So weird seeing this NOW after knowing how they felt about each other in this interview.
When Slaughter sings those notes at the end, and holds out that final note. That's what it's all about. It helps release that pain we all feel inside.
Not nearly three years later in the interview for Kerrang magazine, Vinnie described Dana as being "A Hanger on who doesn't even play an instrument!"
- Bobby Rock described recording the drum tracks for the fist VVI album as sheer hell, go here to read why.
bobbyrock.wordpress.com/2016/01/08/welcome-to-hell-recording-drums-for-the-first-vinnie-vincent-invasion-album-part-1/
- When he popped up in 1996 at Kiss conventions, he was talking about a CD box set which would have rare outtakes and demos, the fans eagerly ordered theirs in advance.
I know what you mean. Before Vinnie, kiss was doing songs like Shandi (total crap imho). Vinnie pumped blood into Kiss music
@@RastaSaiyaman
The box set scam is what makes me think there's truth to Paul Stanley's accusations that VV stole some equipment right after they hired him, and later sold a generic guitar to a KISS fan for more than it would cost in a store even though he didn't have permission to sell KISS merchandise. I honestly don't understand how his fans can go on defending him knowing what they know: It's one thing to enjoy the music he made a long time ago, it's another thing to excuse acts of theft, assault, animal cruelty, and narcissism.
@@Supertron1 Go and visit the official Vinnie Vincent website, you will find that it; s nothing more than a "Get your autographed Vinnie Vincent guitar here."
The guitars them selves are the cheapest variant of Jackson's Randy Rhoads model which because he autographed them all of a sudden must cost five times as much.
@@xrmarty2005 Before Vinnie KISS did songs like Nowhere to Run, The Oath, Rocket Ride, She, Watchin' You, Strutter, Deuce, before KISS Vinnie did Treasure and Dan hartman.
Vinnie looks are like Prince in Metal version
He says "out of 200 drummers he was the one." as if he actually had 200 drummers come over to audition! More like he made 200 calls to drummers until one called back and said they'd do it!
LoveNotLabels He had to make it sound good to sell them cassettes shooooot

"Girls gonna rock, gonna rock.... take ya to the top "
It's too bad they could not make this work. An incredible band. Great songs.
If they were that great, record sales and concert attendance would've reflected it back then. It didn't. The band was dropped like hundreds of other going nowhere LA bands.
Vinnie was a dime a dozen. Took a shot, not enough people liked his music.
@@monty4336 the band wasn’t that well known and nobody in the band was a success already. They needed a couple records under their belt.
Wow much music watched it on satellite out of tx
Mark Slaughter talked about this period on "Three Sides of the Coin" podcast. Just after the Elm Street movie came out the band was often announced as Vinnie Vincent Invasion featuring Mark Slaughter, which must've pissed Vinnie off. He treated Mark like shit anyway.
That's terrible!
Gees this is amazingly interesting.
I wish Vinnie wasn't crazy. I'd have liked to have seen how VV would have evolved.
Mr. VonMarsten also he could've had a career in kiss
Mr. VonMarsten Mark Slaughter would have had be in the band in 86 instead of Robert Fleischman, remember the Boyz are gonna rock video?
what are you talking about, Whisper? VV is crazy and just accept it. he wrote some awesome songs but he is his own worst enemy. Vinnie proved that again in 2018 with his awkward cancelled concerts after promising his fans he has changed, blah blah blah
Vinnie was way too good for Kiss
I like how Mark says in any industry you just gotta be yourself fresh off him lip syncing Roberts parts in Boys Are Gonna Rock video, as he sits with dyed blonde hair and sitting next to Vinnie wearing a wig 😂😂😂
Why do you not like him though?
@@lewhitey2544 Because he was fake and didnt sing as good as Robert thats why.
@@rocknroll6396 fair enough. I do enjoy Slaughters first two albums though.
@@lewhitey2544 ....TBH I liked him in Slaughter being himself. VV put Mark in a weird position having to be fake in the video and then being fake with the look etc lol. So in that way I dont blame Mark. And yes when he was himself doing his own songs it was way better 4 sure.
So much respect for Vinnie
10:17 "I mean, this guy's hot. He discovered Randy Rhoads and Jack E. Lee." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what tools the MTV hosts usually were. It's JAKE E. Lee. Hey, Vinnie, let Mark talk a LITTLE.
I honestly think that Vincent is not making any more great music ..thank God we have those 2 amazing albums with top notch song writing and outrageous guitar playing better than nothing
WHAT? That music is cheesy AF lol. Horrible lyrics.
I want Marks gloves too. I only had All Systems Go in my music collection, I couldn't stand Vinnie Vincent Invasion before or after that album.
OMG that video at the end was so bad and cheesy. LOLOL
Mark is HOT!!!!!!!
I got to make out with him 😆 weeee
@@Iceis_Phoenix Sure you did! No really??
Vinnie loves himself and his own voice.
Dude can talk. Totally interrupts Mark, shuts him down.
No. The songs suck too.
I agree. First of all, I think Yngwie is one of the most melodic players on the planet, and with the best vibrato of all shredders. However, Vinnie Vincent was a "try to play fast as you can" type of guy. You can hear that he was even sloppy on most of his solos, and with no "meaning". Don't get me wrong... he plays guitar very well and has great songs, but he wasn't in the "reign of shredders" as others in the eighties (Yngwie, Gilbert, Becker, Macalpine, Vinnie Moore, etc.)-
Vinnie is so high on himself
God, I remember rhat VJ from my youth.
I love how narcissistic Vinnie is. He even makes up a story on how they got Mark, when it was actually Dana who got Mark.
mrepicchickenman Yeah Vinnie didn't like Mark, he wanted a Swedish singer (name escapes me) for Fleischman's replacement, he could sing more like Fleischman.
@@lrn_news9171 the swedish singer is Göran Edman, very amazing singer who actually DID record demo tracks with Vinnie. Lots of the tracks are out illegally (bootlegs and lo-fi quality digital format have been floating around the web for a long time). Find them and thank me later
That's the story the record company told him to tell. He had to search the globe to find someone as amazing as Mark.
@Frank Filthyfinger what's he going to say, he sucks buy we hired him anyway?
@@allsystemsgo8678 Lmao yeah
I loved Mark's vocals!
He was definitely jealous, but I can understand how frustrating that situation must of been. He hires these guys, the band doesn't take off as expected and then the guys he hired gets his record deal have a huge hit album.
Vinnie didn't like Mark's singing from the get go
@@Supertron1 The reason his 3rd album didn't materialized was because he was trying to land a better contract with another label and they found out about it.
I saw Kiss on the Dressed To Kill tour in NY when I was 17. Just before Alive 1 came out. They kicked ass. I saw Vinnie with Kiss in the early 80s. I never heard of him at the time. I thought he was alright. Even though he was no Ace Frehley on guitar. Ace had feel. Vinnie was all flash. But he was ok on guitar that night. I think people are a little hard on him after all these decades. I never got to see Kiss with Bruce or Tommy. But from the videos, Bruce was good. Tommy? I'm sure he's a good player but....Remember this people. Nobody played Ace licks like Ace. Just put on the first three albums again. frankny65yroldwhitekid rockfan
Astonishing Master Shredder.
Dana and Mark states: that they form slaughter with the remaining money from the label that vinnie wanted to blow with long solos and long songs in Invasion 3 record and the label decided to let him go and keep moving forward with the mark and Dana thing.
Vinnie was doing the trans thing way before anybody else. Talented songwriter.
I saw VV with Kiss on the Lick it Up tour in Austin. Queensryche opened.
That band ain't shit without Mark Slaughter
I was told in 1995 at an acoustical kiss show that vinny had gotten a sex change. Not at the expense of his guitar playing or his fantastic vocal chords!!!
So what? If it made him happy who are we to judge?

I will never understand why Vinnie Vincent said that he hated how Mark Slaughter sang...Mark did a great job...too bad that Vinnie Vincent is such a selfish weirdo and very strange how he looks like a woman now is bizarre...it's unlikely that Vinnie would ever reach another pinnacle of success. That Time of Year is a great song and Mark sang it killer.
Obviously. As seen here. Vinnie is what he is.
Good on you Mark.
10:11 Vinnie looked like the interviewer took a dump in his lap when he mentioned Dana. I have heard before that Vinnie actually introduced the late Randy Rhoads to the Osbournes. Who knows.
can i have mark's gloves?
They have them down at the Sport's Authority, look in the baseball bat section of the isle.
Vinnie couldn't handle not being the center of attention at all times. Vinnie once called Mark a talentless piece of shit. Well we all saw how their careers went, Mark & Dana formed one of the great bands from that era. Vinnie drifted to nowhere.

It was, but '88 is about the time when Guns N' Roses flattened glam in one fell swoop.
The way Mark laughs at Vinnie's BS at 3:00
it's a shame but there is a reason nobody could stand him Paul Stanley was warned by Vinnie appice that he was difficult
Vinnie was the best guitarist in that time in the metal world.

Well whatever the issue is between Mark and vinnie in the past, I guess there's a reason why vvi broke up. If it vvi didn't broke up, there wouldn't be no slaughter with stickittoya
I guess it's great that slaughter was formed.
Vinnie should have just stuck to the songwriting and the band would have been better off. He's such a talent yet he's obviously haunted by some kind of demon.
