I ended up building a team of Giratina, Gastrodon, Lugia, Dragapult, Glimmora, and Great Tusk... That being said, if I decided to just avoid legendaries entirely, or limit myself to only one legendary, and grab Amoonguss and/or Kilowattrel instead, I think could actually make for a more balanced team! Amoongus especially could actually be the choice here.
If I ignore the Legendary options, it would be Conkeldurr, Gastrodon, Kilowattrel, Piloswine, Glimmora, and Magcargo. Counting Legendaries, it'd be Giratina, Gastrodon, Lugia, Piloswine, Glimmora, and Regidrago.

Like it actually makes you be careful if you take that potentially good mon that is *also* their typing. In the 2nd connect 4 it would make taking something like "Iron Bundle" dangerous because its water and ice and could give the other player a connect. Could've been a cool mixup to the game.

King: Legendary Queen:Psuedo or paradox Knights:Starters Bishops/rooks: Pokemon with BST between 500-550 Pawns: Pokemon with bst under 500 The advantage to the winner is they get the legendary, and maybe pick 1 punishment for the loser. What i listed is purely my thoughts on it, and obviously is purely up to change. Also if the loser has no accumulated atleast 6 pieces, the winner gets to chose the remainder, to make it so its not to cruel maybe with the condition that they atleast get two pokemon equal to knight/bisop/rooks but winners choice of course.
or maybe since there's a site dedicated to pokemon chess, they play a round of pokemon chess then yeah pick a team based on captured pieces, maybe the winner can have free pick of any pokemon on the board?
A cool variation of this formula would be having the person who wins the match still get that same perk, but the person who loses it has to choose from the remaining pokemon they DIDNT pick for the connection 4 game. It adds a whole nother level of planning for the game

The winner must use 2 of the types in their winning line of 4. As a reward they can pick the two types for their opponent. Thought this could add some extra strategy to the game.

Interesting game concept! Just an idea but next time you have to choose a Pokémon from the same column you want to place a piece on the connect four board. It adds more strategy as you could influence the other persons picks by making them have to block you.
